Qrion has carved out a distinctive sound that blends soft, exploratory textures with soulful house rhythms. That delicate balance has earned her global recognition, with releases across some of electronic music's most respected labels, from Anjunadeep to Last Night On Earth. Her 2021 debut album I Hope It Lasts Forever was widely praised as one of the year's standout dance records and established her as one of the most exciting electronic artists to emerge in recent years. Recognized internationally for her unique approach behind both the decks and in the studio, Qrion continues to push boundaries while staying deeply connected to the emotional core of dance music. On this Balance Selections mix, the Austin-based artist delivers fully on that promise. Featuring tracks from Jamie Stevens, Seth Troxler, and Floating Points, this is a tightly woven hour of lush deep house filled with warmth, groove, and melodic pleasure. @qrionqrionqrion Tracklisting & interview: https://balancemusic.com.au/balance-selections-qrion/ ------------------------------------- Follow: Instagram: www.instagram.com/balance_series Facebook: www.facebook.com/balanceseriesmusic Youtube: www.youtube.com/@balancemusicofficial

Sentre, the duo of Dave Gardner and Dennis White, are long-standing industry figures, known for their studio craf. With a history of collaborations alongside Sasha, including contributions to his seminal Involver album series, Sentre have built a reputation as refined producers with a detailed, emotive approach to sound design. In 2025, they returned to Last Night On Earth label with This Feeling, a collaboration with Of Norway. The release showcased their signature style: luminous melodies, celestial energy, and subtle vocal elements. On this Balance Selections mix, their penchant for interesting dance music is on full display. Featuring tracks from Tim Paris, Laurent Garnier and Zombies In Miami, this one hour mix is a fun ride through loose and rolling house. @sentre_music Tracklisting & interview: https://balancemusic.com.au/balance-selections-363-sentre/ ------------------------------------- Follow: Instagram: www.instagram.com/balance_series Facebook: www.facebook.com/balanceseriesmusic Youtube: www.youtube.com/@balancemusicofficial
For more than 15 years, Of Norway has been the joint project of Vegard “Lil' Wolf” Dyvik and Christian Steenstrup. Emerging from Oslo's fertile underground, the duo have developed a sound that sits somewhere between house, electro, techno and dub, often coloured by darker textures and leftfield influences. Their productions move comfortably between warm, hypnotic grooves and colder, more atmospheric terrain, drawing on everything from disco and electro to industrial and experimental sounds. Their most recent release on Last Night On Earth alongside Sentre, encapsulates their sound: fun, care-free dance music that never takes itself too serious. That ability to produce a variegated sound has seen their music picked up by DJs across a wide spectrum, with support from Dixon to Sasha to Timo Maas and more. On this Balance Selections mix, the duo stay true to form with a playful one-hour session. Featuring tracks from Eden Burns, Mark Henning, Tata Box Inhibitors and more, the mix connects classic and contemporary cuts with an ease that never feels forced. @of-norway Tracklisting & interview: balancemusic.com.au/balance-selections-360-of-norway ------------------------------------- Follow: Instagram: www.instagram.com/balance_series Facebook: www.facebook.com/balanceseriesmusic Youtube: www.youtube.com/@balancemusicofficial

Kevin Di Serna is an Argentine DJ and producer whose work moves across house, progressive house, techno, UK garage, and indie-informed electronics. Early musical influences at home helped shape a broad listening palette, spanning artists from Radiohead to Burial, Sasha, and John Digweed. The emotional tones absorbed from these references are evident in his output, with labels from Innervisions to Last Night On Earth releasing his introspective productions. On this Balance Selections, the Argentine producer delivers a densely packed 60-minute session. Ten years is a long time in music, especially when you take into account the changes in the music industry, which magnify with each passing year. When a band decides to have a break from making music for that amount of time, the temptation to try and amalgamate the changes over that period into their music would be huge, even if that band has an established, existing fan base of international acclaim. But when Toronto-based rock outfit Finger Eleven sat down to write and record their new album Last Night On Earth - their first in a decade - the decision was made to stick with their existing structure and bring the sounds that had made them a household name back to life by their own volition, in their own way and image. The result is a highly entertaining slab of music which harks back to Finger Eleven's musical roots while still retaining their relevance in the modern age of music. HEAVY took the chance to catch up with frontman Scott Anderson to break things down, starting with how he is feeling about the album release."I'm feeling good," he beamed. "I have felt everything there is to feel about this album. It's been a long journey, and I'm so happy that it's finally coming to an end and it's going to materialise in an actual record. I'm thrilled."We ask if he feels there is extra pressure on the album, given the lengthy amount of time between releases."I think there's a lot of pressure because of the time," he nodded, "you can't just put out anything. There's been so much time that's gone by, and so I think that hung over our heads a little bit. But it doesn't change the day-to-day writing where it's like, okay, we're still going to try to do the best we can. That's what Finger Eleven does. We're going to get in a room and try to make whatever idea we're working on the very best it can be."In the full interview Scott dives deeper into the musicality of Last Night On Earth, if the personal growth of each band member shows in the finished product, the singles released and how they represent the album as a whole, keeping their earlier sound while using modern technology, the start of the album and the small nuances that prepare you for this particular journey, having Richard Patrick guest on one song, having an acoustic number as the title track and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 20ú lá de mí an Mheithimh, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1970 d'éalaigh garda nuair a phléasc buama foirgneamh. Tháinig an buama ó charr a raibh ag dul róthapa. I 1980 bhí boilsciú ann de 20.2% agus bhí fadhbanna ann d'fhostóirí agus ceardchumann éagsúla a bhí ag fáil réidh do thuiscint nua náisiúnta. I 1980 bhí tionscadal forbairt ag dul ar aghaidh I dTulach, Ballyvaughan, Lissycasey agus an tSionainn agus bhí na baile chun fáil níos mó ná 35 míle punt ó Chomhairle Contae an Chláir. I 1997 d'oscail Tubs And Tiles I Ballysimon ar bóthair Luimnigh. Sin Don McLean le Crying – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1980. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1995 phós Don Henley ó The Eagles Sharon Summerall. Bhí daoine ann cosúil le Glenn Frey, Joel Walsh, Timothy B Schmit, David Crosby, Randy Newman, Jimmy Buffett, Jackson Browne, Billy Joel, Sting agus Sheryl Crow. I 1997 bhí a lán trácht I Kansas City de bharr go raibh U2 ann. Thug siad airgead don bhaile chun cúig lána a dhúnadh chun fís a dhéanamh dá amhrán Last Night On Earth. Chomh maith le plódú tráchta, chuaigh Cadillac isteach chuig píosa gloine chun seachain ceamaradóir. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Robert Rodriquez I Meiriceá I 1968 agus rugadh amhránaí Lionel Richie I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1949 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh an tseachtain seo chugainn le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 20th of June, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1970: garda had a narrow escape when a bomb from a speeding car blasted a four story building. 1980: steeping inflation at 20.2pc was creating major problems for employers and unions preparing for a new national understanding. 1980: development projects in tulla, ballyvaughan, lissycassey and shannon were to benefit to the tune of pver £35,000 from the county council developments fund. 1997: tubs and tiles opened on the ballysimon road limerick. That was Don McLean with Crying – the biggest song on this day in 1980 Onto music news on this day In 1995 Don Henley from the Eagles married model Sharon Summerall. Guests included Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, David Crosby, Randy Newman, Jimmy Buffett, Jackson Browne, Billy Joel, Sting and Sheryl Crow. 1997 U2 caused traffic chaos in Kansas City, Missouri after they paid for traffic control to close down five lanes so they could shoot the video for 'Last Night On Earth'. Apart from major traffic jams, a passing Cadillac crashed into a plate glass window trying to avoid a cameraman. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – director Robert Rodriguez was born in America in 1968 and singer Lionel Richie was born in America on this day in 1949 and this is one of his songs. I'll be back with you next week with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.

From the storied streets of Hamburg and Berlin to the deep-rooted house culture of Chicago, Florian Kruse and Dilee D bring together two musical journeys into one creative partnership. Their paths converge in a shared passion for emotional, forward-thinking electronic music and a healthy respect for the scene's colourful past. With solo releases spread across imprints like Mobilee and Idyllik Records, they've each carved out distinct identities—but now unified through their collaborative Clockwork Mind EP recently released on on Sasha's Last Night On Earth. In this Balance Selections mix, Florian and Dilee channel their transatlantic experiences and deep studio chemistry into a session that's both personal and precise. Featuring tracks from Max Cooper, WhoMadeWho, and AFFKT, as well as their own unreleased work, the mix reflects their belief in storytelling through sound. @dileedofficial @floriankruse
Aubrey Fry is a rising force in electronic music, blending progressive house, techno, and breaks with a raw, hypnotic sound. With releases on Last Night On Earth, Bedrock, and The Soundgarden, and support from legends like Sasha, Digweed, and Guy J, he recently added Balance Music to that esteemed list with the fantastic St John EP, a collaboration with Nick Stoynoff. Not to be outdone in the live arena, his high-energy DJ sets and growing global presence are cementing his reputation as one to watch. On this Balance Selections mix, the Welshman delivers a two-hour excursion that builds with the intensity of a pressure cooker. Featuring tracks from Gai Barone, Super Flu, Jody Barr, and more, it's an energetic journey that's not afraid to put the hammer down. @aubreyfry

In 2011, Lithuanian producers Donatello, Arnas D and Kastis Torrau entered a competition to remix Sasha's “Cut Me Down.” Their entry won and was released on Last Night On Earth. Currently, a YouTube upload of their wistful remix has amassed 17 million plays and 3,991 comments singing its praise. That's impressive numbers for any dance music genre. Since then, with a string of releases on notable labels like Get Physical and Renaissance, Donatello has become one of his country's most prolific producers. After an enforced break from the industry due to the pandemic, he's finally back focussing on music: “I hope to return to the studio this winter after a long break and create the works that have been in my head since the start of the pandemic.” And it's not a moment too soon. In an hour filled with depth and dynamics, the Lithuanian producer straddles an adventurous line between deep progressive and bouncey deep house. With tracks from Enamour, M.O.S., Dhany G, and Donatello himself, this mix is a timely reminder of what we've been missing during that enforced absence. @djdonatello
It's not surprising to hear Richie Blacker share his appreciation for fellow Irishmen and old-school revivalists Bicep. Just as they draw from scene originators like Orbital, Richie imbues his productions with the spirit of mid-90s open-field raves and Ibiza-flavored piano house. This sound resonates with notable DJs like Sasha and Skream, who have both signed him to their labels, Last Night On Earth and Of Unsound Mind. With his Mess Express label and regular radio plays on Radio 1 and other stations across Europe, he shows no signs of slowing down. Featuring tracks from Sasha, Tinlicker, Gui Boratto, and Johannes Brecht, this is an enthralling two hour ride through Balearica, Afro house, and contemporary prog - currated by one of Ireland's best. @richie-blacker-fuel

The name Steven Weston is gaining more prominence, which is well overdue given his impressive career in music. His CV includes an engineering background working with artists ranging from drum and bass act Rudimental to reggae artist Chronixx, while he's toured the world playing keyboards for the likes of Ladyhawke, Charli XCX, and Mikky Ekko. Weston also counts James Lavelle as a fan, having regularly collaborated with the veteran for 10 years now. But his passion lies in deep, progressive music, and since entering the arena he's signed to labels such as Anjunadeep, Bedrock, and Last Night On Earth. With tracks from GMJ, Durante, UNKLE, and Duo State, this Balance Selections mix highlights a music purveyor who lives and breathes the intricacies of the sound he has dedicated himself to. @stevenweston
