Come here my crazy divorce story, narrated by the incredibly talented Tom Milligan, host of the My Crazy Divorce Podcast.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/anniejallen)
Build a pitch deck. Google pitch deck and find a way to build your pitch deck. The reason for that is who knows you might need to go out and get funding so, that is the first reason you might want it. The main reason is it really does bring home and drive home what it is you do. Why you do it, and why somebody should care. If you do a good pitch deck you touch on your finance, marketing, operation, and founders. You've touched on every single thing in a very short time frame but, it's incredibly valuable. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-inventive-journey/message

My biggest fear has been producing an inferior product or a product that won't pass muster. What that has done is it has really shown and taught me that first of don't release something unless it's at least minimally viable. Don't release a crappy product. If you do release one, you are going to have to deal with it in the future. That is what I have learned over these last few months. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-inventive-journey/message
My business partner Jill, she owns several companies and has a parent company that runs them all. Since she owns a portion this company, I now have access to her CFO and all the accounting and book keeping that she does. That is part of her investment. She has a cash investment as well as a sweat equity investment in the form of development resources as well as some financial resources. Financing and accounting resource. She did some cash investment as well as sweat equity, so I was able to off load the thing that I will put if off till I am dead cause I hate it. I think my advice is just make sure you know what you like to do and what your good at and find people to come up and help you with what you are not good at. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-inventive-journey/message

Proving that it's never too late to start a new business, John Cavanagh retired as CEO from Willis Re in 2017 to set up Beat Capital with Tom Milligan (previously Co-CEO of Ariel Re). Today Beat Capital is supporting multiple underwriting businesses, set up by experienced and entrepreneurial underwriters. John has been working for over 45 years in insurance, including 21 years at international specialty reinsurance broker RK Carvill where he was joint CEO. It was a real pleasure to speak to such an experienced and well known figure from the global insurance market. Matthew has known John for many years and he is a long time supporter of the use of technology, data and analytics to enhance underwriting and risk management. This wide-ranging discussion includes: Launching a start-up The importance of Lloyd's in the global insurance market The balance between using analytics and underwriting intuition The role of the new "Syndicate in a box" at Lloyd's (and what that actually means) Why John got involved with Slipcase and why what they do is so relevant for insurance Getting the right work-life balance You can find, read and share the summary of this discussion, along with all our other podcasts at https://www.instech.london/podcasts Membership details and other enquiries: hello@instech.london InsTech London Podcast Host: Matthew Grant Produced by Simon Fyles: simon@instech.london Edited by Peter Roach: visualmonkeys.co.uk

They switch gears from teaching & technology to movies, books and of course Doctor Who. Chris & guest Colette review The Giver. Hooray for stock video? Paul reviews Guardians of the Galaxy. Time to talk about the new Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi. Colette is leery, Paul is cautiously excited and Chris is Chris. Speaking of grumpydays Chris, he thinks Martha Jones married 2 guys creating a continuity error, but it turns out she only got engaged to Tom Milligan. Guess he wasn’t timey wimey enough for? Chris decides to watch Dusk ‘til Dawn, the TV series. He says it suffers from ridiculous back-story-itus. Let’s talk tech, Colette is using a Jawbone Up24 fitness tracker. Chris is excited about the new arkOS update with the File Sync plugin based on syncthing. arkOS will soon be available on a VPS through a new service called Skylark.
