Another fine and dandy day out watching the football as Albion romped to a resounding 0-4 win at St Mary's. With Chelsea safely despatched from the FA Cup last weekend, attentions turned six days later to ridiculous 8pm kickoff part two and a Brighton breezy 3-0 ‘sweep aside' of our dearly beloved London visitors! Winning that game meant one double was achieved for the Albion in the shape of back-to-back home wins against Chelsea, but it wasn't the only double for Brighton at the weekend. That's because the other club of note within the city of Brighton and Hove, Whitehawk, were in action the following day for the very tough visit to highflying Dover Athletic, but it was The Hawks who prevailed to make it a glorious double for Brighton's teams with their surprising 0-2 win. Russ and Jack Albion made the trip down to the corner of Kent to see that fantastic win, taking the opportunity to review Albion's battering of Chelsea down the pub before kickoff on Saturday. It was just the reaction the boys in the stripes needed to provide and they did so, thanks to an accomplished headed finish from Smiler and a delicious low chipped winner by Mito, leaving an array of objectionable ex-Seagulls in his wake, sprawled pitifully upon the hallowed turf of Albion. Evenings (far too late evenings, thanks a lot ITV you selfish bastards!) don't get much better than this and my oh my did we all enjoy it, even though many had to stay at home to watch on the tellybox (thanks again ITV you selfish bastards!). The considered views of Andy K and Raymond ‘The Gent' Wrighty McWright accompanied the idle ramblings of your erstwhile and consistently nauseating host Russell G - who now seems to have taken to singing pod intros……good grief and lord save us all!!! As well as revelling in the rightful elimination of Chelsea (not completely, they DO still exist unfortunately) the chaps cast an entertained eye over the rest of the weekend's cup games including Devon's cream of the crop, cupsetters extraordinaire Plymouth Argyle, perused the 5th Round draw and considered Albion's prospects for Chelsea (h) Part Two. However it was far from all fun and games and kicking Marc Cockarella ten foot upwards. It was our profoundly sad duty to report to any that hadn't heard already of the devastating loss to us all of Worthing FC club legend Peter Vale. Pete passed away this week following a very recent cardiac arrest. He leaves behind him an array of people harbouring the fondest of memories of his kindness, friendliness, dedication to the club through all his free time generously given up in order to travel the length and breadth of the country commentating on Rebels games and his wonderful sense of humour. Pete has appeared on numerous podcasts, most notably Rebel Yell and latterly The Premier Non League Podcast (PNLP), as well as several guest slots on our own humble platform here. We are devastated to hear the news and can't begin to describe how sadly missed he'll be to all who knew him. The outpouring on social media has been utterly heartwarming, yet entirely unsurprising. We miss you already, Pete. Friend, legend and all round good guy. Russ and Pete saw Everton were heading for the coast and thought “sod that!”, electing to follow The Mighty Rebels' fixture over in Kent, in an important promotion six-pointer. Surprise, surprise, the Everton game turned out to be a typically turgid, anti-footballing affair while The Stones v Rebels clash was entertaining and fun. Yes it's all about the threes! Another three points as we complete three successive wins at Old Trafford, under three different managers, completing three wins in a row, which happen to all be away wins within the space of one week! We are UP FOR THE CUP! And we really were on Saturday, riding an early threat from Norwich to eventually romp home 0-4. A great day out, a great performance and some fantastic positives to be taken from the game, including a welcome return for Danny Welbeck, a welcome and sensational appearance from the bench for Solly March, some really good goals including an overdue strike for Julio Enciso and last but by absolutely no means least, a first team debut for young Albion centre back Ruairi McConville, who came on and acquitted himself really well. Russ spoke to his dad and younger brother in the away end at the end of the match and found both family members to be delighted and extremely proud of Ruairi's debut. Well here we went again. Another day, another underwhelming result. As well as Andrew Tate who got over a million subscribers in less than 2 days. As of scripting this it remains to be seen if Trump will start using the platform now that he's officially making a run at becoming president again. As for Twitter someone just said that if Musk only has 50 employees left at Twitter out of 7500 when he first too over then what were the rest doing? 44% of staff were women and in the last four or five years many of them were brought in. No doubt as diversity hires and to police the platform from naughty words. I doubt that Elon only has 50 Musketteers left at Twitter. Originally he went from 7500 to 3700 workers when he first took over and now 1200 employees resigned after he Gave them an ultimatuum that either they work hardcore or resign with severence pay. So that only leaves 2500 of them. The employees that are leaving have said that now there's no one left to fix things at the platform. That may be true. But sometimes when you run a business after taking it over from someone it's smart to cut costs to see exactly what you can live with. You can always hire more people if you don't have enough. What got me thinking of this story were these two photos that were floating around showing what the company looks like under Musk versus what it used to look like. Some of the former employees are saying that 75% of the 3700 or so employees that were left have opted not to stay. If that's true then Twitter is 88% smaller in only one month. If that's true then the number of employees that are left is somewhere behind 1100 and 1200. I think that many of those employees that resigned are going to regret their decision in coming weeks and months because tech jobs are about to become increasingly scarce. I think what we are seeing with the recent firing of woke tech workers and companies losing billion in stock value is that the nerds that work at such companies aren't going to get their revenge. They are sad sacks of soy that thought they could make the world their oyster but price to earnings ratios in many big tech companies have shot up and their profitability has been shot down. They brought in too much fat in the form of woke content officers to police so called hate speech and there's a good chance that many of the big tech companies like Meta will never see their share price recover. Isn't it also funny that back in the day guys like Elon were considered evil, like Conrad Black. Black would buy newspapers and then fire the staff and run stories by authors at their other publications. But one silver lining if you're a Twatter employee that decides to stay on with the company is that you can work super hard and challenge yourself. With most companies guys that want to work hard can't because they will make everyone else look bad. So they never try living up to their potential because of potentially being bullied by their co-workers for making them look bad.
