El 10 de mayo de 1508 Miguel Ángel Buonarroti, unos de los genios del Renacimiento, iniciaba la pintura de los frescos de la Capilla Sixtina en Roma. Una obra de unas dimensiones inmensas que realizó entre 1508 y 1512, año en el que el pintor desveló al Papa Julio II el resultado final, unos frescos sobre la bóveda de la Capilla Sixtina, una de las obras más importantes de la historia del arte universal. Para conseguir este logro Miguel Ángel tuvo que montar sus propios andamios, una estructura que permitiese pintar a esa altura y que, además, habilitase un espacio para trabajar cómodamente cerca del techo. Tras varias pruebas fallidas, Miguel Ángel diseñó un andamio basado en el modo de contruir puentes de la antigua Roma. Además, se enfrentó a la técnica pictórica del fresco, que no permite errores ni vuelta atrás y exige trabajar rápido antes de que se seque la pintura.

Juan Ignacio is a Guatemalan American who was born and raised in Guatemala, until the age of 17, which is when he moved to Colorado to continue his education.  Juan studied international affairs and cinematography, and always planned to returned to Guatemala, but his plans changed when he became a young father who wanted to have a strong presence in his son's life.  After graduating from College, Juan worked various jobs to make ends meet, until one day he started selling his mom' hot sauce, and that is how he became an entrepreneur. Earlier this year, Juan Ignacio won the hearts of many people in the U.S after pitching his new invention, Frescos Naturales, at Shark Tank. His passion and dedication to share his Latin culture with his son, and with the world, became evident, and his determination to make fruit juices or frescos, with the best quality ingredients, helped him land a deal with the sharks.  Juan Ignacio's story is one of resilience, and passion. In this episode I travel to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, where I visit world renowned Bhutanese author Ashi Kunzang Choden at her family seat of Ogyen Choling in the Tang Valley, Bumthang. Ashi gives a tour of her home, which her family have occupied for hundreds of years, including a rare look into a remarkable multi-story temple with rich religious frescos, sacred artefacts, and entire floors dedicated to Tara and Guru Rinpoche. Ashi also recounts her remarkable life that embodies so much of Bhutan's recent history. Ashi was born into a family of feudal lords, witnessed the reformations of the 1950s, was educated in Catholic convents in India, and worked for the United Nations, before returning to her family home which she now runs as a cultural centre and guest house.
