On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on Keith Andrews and his side bouncing back from derby day defeat to sting Ruben Amorim's Manchester United at the Gtech. We needed a response after the poor showing at Craven Cottage, and just like the fallout from opening day defeat against Forest, Andrews rang the changes, switching to a back four and bringing Aaron Hickey into the side. We chat about the formation change, Igor Thiago's impressive form, and Bryan Mbeumo's return to Brentford. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
The curse of games past returned to haunt Liverpool as once again Crystal Palace proved to be their bogey team, with Palace winning 2-1 and now becoming the only unbeaten team in the league.Does this spell trouble for Liverpool that has been coming for a while? Or is this just a blip before they get back to extending their league at the top?The unlikable derby delivered once again as Arsenal beat Newcastle with a last minute winner. In a game where Arsenal moaned, punched and kicked their way to success. The writing is surely on the wall for Ruben Amorim as he once again failed to win back to back games at Man United. This time losing 3-1 to Brentford's Irish contingent. Also, the cat was away and so the mouse (Cathal) was hungover and missed most of this weeks football.Support the showWant to support us and also get some sweet bonus exclusive pods? Dharmesh Sheth is joined by The Daily Mail's Dominic King, The Independent's Miguel Delaney and The Times' Martin Samuel to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We begin with Man United's 3-1 defeat at Brentford. Miguel believes Keith Andrews had Amorim's number and criticises a lack of consistency but is Martin harsh to consider Man United the worst run club in football? Dominic suggests Man United would want to be run more like Brentford.Next we focus on Liverpool, who got a taste of their last-minute-winner medicine against Crystal Palace, losing in extra time by an Eddie Nketiah goal. Will defensive frailties be an issue for Liverpool as the season unfolds? We then move to Arsenal, and Dominic considers Arteta's side to have the best squad in the league, with depth in every position, but they need take advantage of title-rival slip ups; something they were unable to capitalise on last year. We also look at Europe's successful Ryder Cup weekend. Dominic calls it a ‘demolition' and praises Fleetwood and Rose's second day performance. Finally, The Times' Charlotte Duncker joins us on the pod to chat more about Amorim's system and future at Man United, and Ange's difficult start at Nottingham Forest. Episode Notes Kelleher SAVES THE DAY for Brentford Against Manchester United. Brentford claimed one of their biggest results of the season with a 3-1 win over Manchester United, and it was an Irishman who provided the game's decisive moment. With the score at 2-1, Nathan Collins pulled down Bryan Mbeumo inside the box — a challenge that many felt warranted a red card. Bruno Fernandes stepped up, but his four-minute wait while VAR reviewed the incident appeared to rattle him. Caoimhín Kelleher, however, was ice-cool. The Corkman guessed right, palming away Fernandes's effort to swing momentum firmly in Brentford's favour. From there, United pressed for an equaliser but were punished late on as Brentford added a third. It was a statement victory for Keith Andrews, whose appointment was doubted in some quarters but who has now overseen wins over United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. Kelleher's performance underlined his growing stature at club and international level. Once considered Liverpool's understudy, he is now Brentford's number one and Ireland's undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. Nathan Collins, meanwhile, will reflect on another error, following a run of unsteady form for both club and country. While his ceiling remains high, consistency is becoming a concern. Elsewhere, Evan Ferguson continues to adapt to life at Roma. Though yet to score in Serie A, the teenager's all-round play has impressed. His manager's belief suggests it is only a matter of time before the goals come. In Scotland, Liam Scales is thriving at Celtic, forcing his way into the starting XI and making a strong case to partner Collins for Ireland. There was mixed news for Ireland's goalkeepers. Gavin Bazunu was dropped by Southampton, raising fresh doubts about his club future, while Jason Knight's remarkable run of consecutive 90-minute Championship appearances ended at 65 games. For Andrews and Brentford, though, the headlines belong to Kelleher. His penalty save didn't just deny United a way back into the game — it cemented his reputation as one of the Premier League's most reliable stoppers and a cornerstone for both club and country. On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on another derby day defeat at Craven Cottage. The mood around Keith Andrews has soured after Brentford put up a measly showing against local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage. Mikkel Damsgaard sent us ahead against the run of play, but two goals in quick succession for Fulham at the end of the first half, compounded by an Ethan Pinnock own goal in the second, meant that's now three wins in a row for Fulham against us… We chat about the formation, Andrews' substitutions, and the reaction to the result. On this week's episode, Mike and Dan reflect on Brentford reaching the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after penalty shootout victory over Aston Villa, as well as a dramatic finish against Chelsea in the league. Another positive performance from Keith Andrews' Bees ended in a penalty shootout against a struggling Villa side. Villa took the lead through Harvey Elliott, but an absolute worldie from Aaron Hickey levelled affairs in the second half, before Hakon Valdimarsson became the hero in the shootout after a tricky 90 minutes. We chat about Keith's approach to the cup and how it differs from Thomas Frank, the performance of debutant Benjamin Arthur, and our frightening strength off the bench. We also touch on a well deserved point against Chelsea at the Gtech. Fabio Carvalho's last minute equaliser meant the spoils would be shared after a Cole Palmer-inspired turnaround from the World Champions. We talk Jordan Henderson, long throw carnage, and players running themselves into the ground for Keith. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on back-to-back wins for Keith Andrews' Brentford side in league and cup. A response from the team was needed after the season opener at Forest, and a response was what we got against Villa. We chat about the changes Andrews made, Dango Ouattara's debut, and our defensive solidity. We also react to Brentford securing safe passage through to the next round of the Carabao Cup following a 2-0 win at Bournemouth. Plenty of changes were made but - uncharacteristically - Brentford won pretty convincingly on the south coast. We chat through the formation, and Andrews' impressive game management. Brentford bounced back in style at the Gtech, putting last week's poor showing firmly behind them with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Aston Villa. Club-record signing Dango Ouattara made an instant impact on his debut, scoring the decisive goal after just 12 minutes and setting the tone for a much-improved Bees performance. The team looked sharper, more disciplined, and far more cohesive, giving Keith Andrews his first Premier League win as Brentford boss.Straight after the whistle, Billy “The Bee” Grant caught up with both Brentford and Villa fans to capture the raw post-match emotions. From relief and pride among the home supporters to frustration in the Villa camp, this episode dives into the key moments, tactical tweaks, and the buzz around a debut goal that could mark the start of something special for Brentford. We are so back ladies and gentlemen. As a new Premier League season kicked off with some big games and weird interviews.Liverpool kicked off the season with an emotional and controversial 4-2 win over Bournemouth. In a game which saw great performances from new signings, not so good performances from others, tributes galore to Diogo Jota and a racist fan incident. After the game, Arne Slot appeared for his mandated casual post game chat with Jamie Carragher and co. Little did Arne know that he was in for a grilling with criticism and landmine questions a plenty. While Arsenal beat Man United 1-0 thanks to some weak goalkeeping and clever set piece hassling, it was Man United fans who came out of the game feeling more positive, as they managed to look not totally incompetent. You'd fear for Brentford as they concede a set piece 10 minutes in to the new season with their ex set piece coach Keith Andrews in charge. We take a look at how fantasy football has changed over the years and how only one thing has stayed the same - the team names.Support the showWant to support us and also get some sweet bonus exclusive pods? On this week's episode, Mike, Craig, Dan and Callum reflect on opening day defeat after Brentford lost 3-1 against Nottingham Forest. Adrian Barry and John Duggan are joined by Meghan Scully and Hugh Farrelly for this weeks Sunday Paper Review.
On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on another turbulent week for Brentford fans, starting with reports that Keith Andrews is set to succeed Thomas Frank as Brentford manager. The Irishman was part of Frank's backroom staff last season serving as set piece coach, but has no experience as a first team coach at any level. We chat about the appointment, Phil Giles and Matthew Benham, and how Andrews could shape our summer transfer window. That news was quickly followed by club captain Christian Norgaard being poached by Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. Norgaard has been at the club since 2019, and was an integral member of the squad that took us from the Championship to the Premier League. We discuss what his departure means for Brentford. With rumours intensifying that Keith Andrews is set to be unveiled as the new Head Coach of Brentford, long-time fans and Beesotted podcasters Billy ‘The Bee' Grant and Dave ‘Laney' Lane felt compelled to call an emergency podcast — not quite full-blown 999, but certainly a 111-level situation. For a club that prides itself on a data-led, carefully calculated approach, this potential appointment has raised more than a few eyebrows among the Brentford faithful.Andrews is a name that hasn't exactly been front and centre in Premier League coaching circles, making this feel like a typically left-field Brentford move — the kind we've seen before with great success, but which still invites uncertainty. Fans are understandably split: some are open-minded, trusting the club's track record in unearthing hidden gems, while others are questioning the logic behind taking such a big risk at such a crucial point in the club's development. In the podcast, Billy and Laney try to unpack what might be going on behind the scenes — from the club's desire to continue innovating, to the possibility that they see something in Andrews others have missed. They explore how Brentford, still punching above their weight in the Premier League, might benefit from fresh ideas and a new coaching philosophy. This is a pivotal moment for Brentford.
