This week's Coolest Conversation guest is New York's own, Willie Nile. Over the past year, Willie Nile was very busy creating his latest album ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still', Inspired by the streets of Manhattan, the album's title track was our recent Coolest Song on LSUG. Willie informs us about the album, the Sci-fi movie that inspired the album's title, and working with a certain Little Steven's Underground DJ for a song on the album. Join Willie Nile with Mighty Manfred on this Coolest Conversations in Little Steven's Underground Garage.
Meet the pioneering women DJs, producers, vocalists and remixers who were part of the New York underground dance scene from disco onwards. Presented by the Queen of Clubland herself, Martha Wash, whose vocals feature on 12 number one Billboard Dance chart hits to date. All the women are linked by one nightclub, the Paradise Garage, which alongside underground clubs in Chicago and Detroit would help lay the foundation for modern dance music. Underground DJ's, clubs, and producers were not only important in breaking mainstream hits, they were also a safe haven for LGBTQ+ People of Colour. We meet Yvonne Turner, Rebecca Mackenzie, Carol Cooper, Gail Sky King and Sharon White, who were all Paradise Garage regulars from its opening in the late 70s. We follow their first steps in the music business, after the death of disco. In a cut-throat music industry, many women, including Martha, had to fight to get proper credit for their work, and recognition for their achievements is long overdue. Now in their 60s, we follow their remarkable stories over several decades, as underground dance music evolved from disco into house, striving for success in an environment which was often hostile to women. At the same time, the NYC underground scene was hit by the Aids crisis, gentrification, and the rise of hip-hop. Presenter: Martha Wash Producer: Victoria Ferran

We are headed west to our Denver office to sit down with fellow Skookumite and software engineer Eugene Skinner. Eugene’s path to skookum started in a pretty unconventional manner. He’s had some unique experiences. His interests have allowed him a variety of experiences. From walk on football player at the university of Maryland to Underground DJ in the Denver music scene. There are a lot of layers to Eugene and we think you’re going to enjoy getting to hear about them.
Is Ibiza nu trendsettend of trendvolgend? En kun je nog underground zijn als je met een privejet naar het Balearische eiland vliegt?

A flurry of white filled the empty and quiet night with life and splendor. In this winter slumber, listen close for whispers of love. Jeronimo Lopez Amadori aka Deep Within was born in February of 1989 and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, now based on Barcelona. He felt his attraction to the first synths, rhythm boxes, and subs generated by bands and producers like Chemicals Brothers, Moby, Morcheeba, Tricky, Massive attack, Portishead, Prodigy, Faithless, and more. This search and discovery of electronic music was accompanied by the desire to manipulate and mix those styles. He started taking classes with Juan Pryor, renowned Underground DJ of Buenos Aires, who taught him the concepts of the mixing. Amadori has shared the DJ booth with a vast array of accomplished producers and DJs alike such as Bart Skils, Acid Pauli, Geju, Nick Muir, Olivier Weiter, Sailor&I, Karmon, Digitaria, Jimmy Van M, Robert Hardy, Madloch, Andrea Cassino, Marcelo Vasami, Kevin Di Serna, Soundexile, Facundo Mohrr, Ariel Rodz, Mike Griego, and many more. You can find his tracks on labels like Shanti Moscow Radio, Magician On Duty, The Purr, Gentlemen Lounge Records, Balkan Connection South America, Suffused, among others. The sounds of Amadori have already garnered the support from heavy hitters like Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski, Dale Middleton, MUUI, Kora, Death On Balcony, PHCK, Kevin Di Serna, Nicholas Van Orton, and Christian Voldstad.
