Hey Fandom! Welcome back for this very late episode of Roundtable Recap where we sat down with Pierre from Zach Nichols Podcast and talked all things All Stars 4 EP11. We kick off with a season overview and we discuss why the Laurel and Cara rivalry is possibly the best female rivalry of all time on The Challenge. We also discuss whether or not seasons should be cast based on skill/ability level or if it should be a free-for-all as it always has been. Then we break down the last daily of the season, discuss which we value more daily wins or eliminations wins, give our thoughts on Flora quitting and then break into the first half of this seasons finale. We talk about the first checkpoint and elimination set up, how we feel about solo winners, our thoughts on this final being a more even keel situation for everyone involved and of course... whats up with all the Winnebago references?! Again we really apologize for this episode being so late but we hope you guys enjoy looking back at what we said over a week ago and seeing what actually lined up with what ended up happening in the final episode of this season! It's a very specially formatted episode of the podcast this week, as we're joined by three of our Patreon backers to discuss records by Steril, Black Light District/Coil, and GusGus. These episodes are always a treat as they prompt us to listen to records we might not have otherwise considered for the podcast, or listen to old favourites from new perspectives. Thanks very much to Dave, Jeremy, and Adam for joining us!
Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Katie and Alexis. This week we got together to chat about The Challenge All Stars 4 EP10 "It Was A Good Jay" but we kept getting sidetracked and ended up spending half the episode talking about a bunch of other things too and had way too many laughs LOL ***WARNING: AS4 EP10 Recap does not START until 41:20*** If you are looking for strictly Challenge content, we discuss Kam and Cara's individual interviews at 11:30 - 20:05. If you're open for it all, we have a great time on this episode and you even get to meet Katie's alter ego LOL! Once we break into The All Stars 4 EP10 recap we start by discussing why this title disappointed us, how Cara can sometimes come off very tone deaf, and we make a couple of early episode PINS that a lot of fans seem to be overlooking for some reason. Next we break down the daily, how we felt about the winner celebration and we add another important PIN right here with how the final middle group was made on the field. Once we move into deliberations we discuss Ryan changing his mind about going into elimination to get his star, Steve attempting to conspire behind Adam and Leroy's back to save his own star, why we feel a lot of fans couldn't handle the old challenge no matter how much they scream that they want it and is All Stars 4 starting to become overproduced like the flagship? Next we break into nominations and Corrina explains why she doesn't think Adam did anything wrong in this vote and everyone discusses our feelings on Ace. Finally we close out the episode with a discussion about our feelings on the elimination, whether or not Jay should have gone down or stayed out, the different strategic approaches to this elimination, Adam's confessional, next episode predictions, MVP's, Lines of the Night and so much more. We truly hope you enjoy this episode! We had a great time making it and as much as we needed this light recap episode full of laughs, we hope it makes some of you laugh as well. The pod kicks off this week with the disappointing news that Amy's mom, Marsh, isn't joining as planned. Maya has suspicions she will appear before the end of the ep. Amy is at her cabin zooming in and Maya is just kickin' it in the podcast studio. It's the ladies' birthdays this week. They both decide 47 is kind of a meh birthday, so you should just have a relaxed, laid-back day. Maya reviews the restaurant Gus Gus. Who didn't hit a tennis ball against the garage as a kid? Maya reviews the game Head Trip. Amy recounts Marsh's harrowing journey to the cabin that involves a T-Mobile escapade and a handwritten note. Marsh claims it was a “hardship”. Amy's niece does a plug for T-Mobile. And as predicted, Marsh comes in late and hot with a Potluck rant. Young people, your potluck game is weak!!! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-spirit-of-77/message
Christian Zyp interviews Pamela Hogan (dir) about the documentary film THE DAY ICELAND STOOD STILL that she made in collaboration with Icelandic producer Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir. It screens as part of Northwest Fest on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Metro Cinema.THE DAY ICELAND STOOD STILL is the true story of one day that sparked a revolution. With a score by Icelandic rock singer Margrét Rán (GusGus, Vök) and evocative animated sequences by artist Joel Orloff, The Day Iceland Stood Still unfolds through the vivid memories of the women who created and lived this moment. When 90% of the women of Iceland walked off the job and out of their homes one fall morning in 1975, refusing to work, cook, or take care of the children, they brought their country to a standstill and catapulted Iceland to the "best place in the world to be a woman."

Arina Mur, a luminary in the realm of the underground electronic music, has carved a niche with her unique sound. Having graced labels like Anjunadeep and All Day I Dream, she's earned acclaim from industry titans such as Lee Burridge and Nora En Pure. Her edit of Gusgus's "Arabian Horse" is the continuation of the organic house success story origined in 2018. The latest addition to our Fresh Download franchise preserves the essence of the title track from Gusgus' 2011 album while infusing it with Arina Mur's driving organic house touch. Since her emergence in the scene, Arina's music has enraptured dance floors worldwide. Bursting with ultrasonic qualities, her edit expertly blends the vibrant elements of the original with lush organic house pads and beats, creating an energetic yet heavenly atmosphere. The track's driving groove and pulsating percussion set the stage for a grandiose breakdown, where the ethereal vocals of Gusgus lead singer Daníel Ágúst culminating in an euphoric finale driving a surge of adrenaline through the dancefloor. Originally released on KOMPAKT, "Arabian Horse" by Gusgus gets a fresh spin thanks to Arina's revision. We extend our gratitude to the Cologne-based label and the Icelandic band for allowing us to present this exclusive edit as a Fresh Download. Join us in celebrating this fantastic track and immerse yourself in Arina's captivating reinterpretation. It's an honor to contribute to the legacy of this fantastic track. Discover more at:

Today I talk with Stacy Frazer, a fellow Author Accelerator Book Coach, about the key things a writer needs in their manuscript, about her webinar and much more! Stacy Frazer is a formerly repressed creative soul turned speculative fiction writer, YA fantasy author, Author Accelerator certified book coach, and the founder of Write It Scared. Her mission is to help fiction writers let go of the self-doubt spiral and find clarity and confidence in their stories so they can finish their books. Stacy firmly believes that the only creative license required to write a novel is one's lived experience and that you can learn all the tools to craft a book that makes you proud! When not writing, reading, or working with writers, you can find Stacy hanging with her daughter or on the trail with her big goofy labrador, Gus Gus. Finishing a draft is glorious.Realizing you have to revise it—especially the first time—is … not. That's the focus of this bonus episode. We're thinking, maybe it's post NaNoWriMo, it's December, and you're sitting on on a draft, a real honest-to-gosh draft of your first novel. And you should be thrilled, happy, pleased as punch. But since you're a #AmWriting listener, we know you know the next step is NOT pressing send on an agent query or designing cover art. Or even polishing each sentence to perfection. In this episode, you'll hear me (KJ) chat with three fantastic book coaches about what you do do to go from the drafting process to the revision process, the first steps in shifting your mindset, evaluating what you've got and figuring out how to make it better. The beautiful thing about real estate is that there is endless room for growth. While some jobs have a capped amount of opportunity, real estate encourages constant advancement. Today's guest, Gus Ofili, began his investing journey after the pandemic and now has nine properties with twenty-three units. Gus turned to real estate after deciding to leave his nine-to-five at a bank. He didn't hate his job, in fact, he was doing very well, but there wasn't adequate room to grow. Gus started realizing he was getting passed up on opportunities by people who dedicated at least a decade of their life to the bank. He couldn't see himself taking ten years of his life for a career milestone—so he quit.Initially, real estate intrigued Gus because of the thrill he got from negotiating. He started taking classes to become a realtor while working his nine-to-five. As an agent, he sold fifty homes in his first year, seventy-one in his second, and 108 in his third year. While he did exceptionally well as a realtor, he wanted a backup plan and knew investing would be a fundamental part of his real estate career. He had the opportunity to sell a five-unit house, but when the first appraisal fell through, he began to see potential in the home, decided to buy it, and as the saying goes—the rest is history. In This Episode We CoverQuitting your nine-to-five and how to prepare to do soHow to use social media to gain free exposure and grow your brand Finding a profitable side hustle in real estate and the benefits of becoming a leasing agentClubhouse and how to use it to learn more, expand your network, and gain motivationOvercoming the fear of buying your first investment property and how to make the transition as smooth as possibleAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowAshley's InstagramTony's InstagramBiggerPocketsReal Estate Rookie PodcastReal Estate Rookie Facebook GroupBPCON2022AirbnbSTR SummitClubhouseDiscordBiggerPockets ForumsFacebook MarketplaceConnect with Gus:Gus' FacebookGus' InstagramCheck out the full show notes here: https://biggerpockets.com/blog/rookie-201Interested in learning more about today's sponsors or becoming a BiggerPockets partner yourself? Building your strong foundation is work of art & patience's but it gets intense when you have multi cultural experiences. About Ishani - Since 2018, Ishani's music drops have each successively rained her raw heartfelt vocals and atmospheric, future thinking beats on us.“Insomnia” made her a BBC Introducing Artist and in 2019 she performed at Reading and Leeds Festival, where her much lauded single “Nothing's Changed” stormed the festival crowd. Ishani's songs take the surfaces, reflections and tribulations of modern life and cast them through the prism of Ishani's introspective voices. Not shy of big topics, Ishani engages with things our culture still finds difficult to talk about. ‘Don't Stop The Fight' tackles violence against women, while ‘Dark Angel' reflects on the loss of two of her close friends to suicide. It was described by CLASH as “a highly personal plea for mental health awareness.” Ishani has performed at Hungary's Sziget, one of Europe's largest music and cultural festivals, and she's also opened for Icelandic electro group Gus-Gus at Be My Lake Festival. Her work is a synthesis of influences, inspired by her cosmopolitan upbringing and travels through Bangalore, Cornwall and Singapore. She is currently based in London. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
