"Why did I ever think this was a good idea?" That 3AM alarm for Disney races is something we all question—but then the magic happens. This episode, we're joined by Vern (@RunsOnPizza), whose vibrant interviews with costumed runners have become a beloved fixture of runDisney events.Vern shares her journey from nervous first-timer in 2018 to the unofficial sideline reporter of the Run Disney community. What began as a simple desire to give creative runners a platform has evolved into something truly special. With her broadcast journalism background and genuine love for the community, Vern arrives on the first bus (before 3:15AM!) to capture the stories behind the elaborate costumes that make runDisney races so unique."When I started in 2018, I don't remember seeing half of what I see today," Vern reflects on the evolution of race costumes. From foam constructions to motorized elements, the creativity continues to push boundaries—and Vern is there to document it all.The training lull between Disney seasons can be challenging, but Greg reminds us that finding local races is key to maintaining motivation. Meanwhile, Alicia celebrates two years of her run coaching business, specializing in first-timers and marathon training with personalized weekly plans. We spotlight the Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon with Sarah and Ashley, who take us through the unique experience of running through Churchill Downs. Plus, our extensive race reports from Flying Pig Marathon, Indy Mini, and races across the globe showcase our community's incredible accomplishments.Whether you're planning your next costume or searching for summer race motivation, this episode captures the heart of what makes our running community so special—the creativity, support, and shared experiences that keep us rising and running.Runs On Pizza InstagramGo Fund Me for Jen's Husband DanRise and Run LinksRise and Run Podcast Facebook PageRise and Run Podcast InstagramRise and Run Podcast Website and ShopRise and Run PatreonPassport to RunRunningwithalysha Alysha's Run Coaching (Mention Rise And Run and get $10 off)Rise and Run Podcast Cruise Interest Form with Magic Bound Travel Send us a textSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. As the Ibiza summer season quickly approaches, renovations are happening thick and fast here in San Antonio and across the White Isle as we eagerly await your return to our little island. At Café Mambo, we're no exception with only 2 months left before we open our doors again here on the iconic Sunset Strip. Until then Ryan McDermott is back once again with his handpicked Hottest tracks of the month. This month's music includes new tracks from ANOTR, Cristoph, Nolek, Prunk, Mr. Belt & Wezol, to name a few plus a special Mambo Memory courtesy of DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter. Also featured on this month's show are the legendary Deep Dish, serving up 30 minutes of their favourite tracks as they join us for the Café Mambo guest mix. Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer duo "Dubfire" and Sharam, known as Deep Dish, built a celebrated legacy based on innovation. After their breakthrough remix of De'Lacy's "Hideaway" in 1995, Deep Dish became highly sought-after remixers and won a Grammy Award for "Best Remixed Recording" in 2002 for their remix of Dido's "Thank You." With their latest reunion, both "Flashdance" and the sequel single "Say Hello" have been reworked for modern dancefloors. And with plenty of new music on the way in 2025, it seems Deep Dish have no plans of slowing down anytime soon. We are Café Mambo… We are Ibiza! Look, everything in Chicago was great, especially the Chicago Marathon and the big group of running raccoons wearing Believe singlets as they chased down their goals over 26.2 miles. The epic shakeout run was also pretty rad. But we're just saying that maybe deep dish isn't for us and that tavern pizza is mid. The dogs ruled, though. Unsurprisingly, we manage to talk mostly not about the marathon, but eventually we get around to it. Thanks to MarathonFoto and New Balance and Endorphins Running and Fleet Feet for a special weekend, let's run it back again. SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! Today's show is the second visit in the past … we go back in time and listen to a beautiful mix of cinematic, progressive and typical electronic tunes that made this station big! Just after Apple added the ‘podcast' functionality to iTunes. We shot up in the number of listeners, from a tight 100 to well over 4000 downloads per show. After that, however, it really took off with over 20,000 downloads per episode. The music is exceptionally powerful, even now. In fact: if you listen carefully, there were very smart people 20 years ago who knew very well how ‘question and answer' works in music and why the tunes stick in our brains. Nowadays, this is different. More about this later. Now sit back and enjoy this audio spectacle in a nonstop jacket, remastered, recompressed, sublime, except for a small distortion in the first track that could not be repaired. Can you forgive me, I hope? …. Ft. Cliff Martinez, Mosaik, Spielerei, RymdLego, Jason Corder, Artemis, ENV(itre), Ascian, Mikael Fyrek. Joachim Garraud on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/28/24 After seven years at the Conservatoire de Nantes (Nantes' classical music conservatory), Joachim Garraud, a musician with a passion for technology, developed his musical and artistic skills to become one of France's most influential producers in the early 2000s. He has collaborated with David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé, OMD, Deep Dish, Eurythmics, Paul Johnson, Cassius, Cerrone, Moby and Vitalic. He has been a close collaborator to Bob Sinclar and Jean-Michel Jarre in their musical projects for over 20 years, and has co-composed and co-produced David Guetta's hits such as "Just A Little More Love", "Love Don't Let Me Go", "Love is Gone" and "The World is Mine". Joachim, nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Remix" category, was the first French artist to use Pro-Tools, a leading music production software back in 1992. His Paris recording studio became one of the main meeting points of the influential musical movement known as "French Touch", of Daft Punk, Cassius, and Air fame. In addition to his producer's hat, Joachim Garraud has won several awards for his live performances at festivals around the world, including Coachella, Love Parade, Technoparade, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival and Exit Festival. Joachim developed stage concepts ranging from the use of live musical instruments (he was the first DJ to play the Keytar) to the development of techniques linking video and live show (the first DJ to use synchronized video or 3D visual elements) to the development of mixing tools such as the Pioneer DJM-800, which became a standard in the deejaying industry. Today, Joachim Garraud has produced nearly 300 titles and played close to 900 shows on 5 continents. www.joachimgarraud.com About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. He competed in 47 contests in one year at the height of his Major League Eating career, from state fairs to the stage of America's Got Talent, where he repulsed judge Heidi Klum by consuming 120 eggs. He's competed against a bear on Nickelodeon, been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world, and has more world records than any other competitive eater, but let's go back to Chicago where he first earned the nickname “Deep Dish.” Learn more about your ad choices. Violence, death threats, and bagels, oh my! In this final episode of Deep Dish season one, Sohla and Ham explore the origins of bagels, and the tough-as-nails Eastern Europe immigrants who created a thriving bagel business in New York. Sohla tells the story, and she learns the secrets of hand-rolling bagels from an expert at Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels. Make sure you listen all the way to the end to hear Sohla and Ham's bagel taste test!
