The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down two weeks of action for the USC men's and women's basketball programs, including a Thanksgiving trip to Palm Springs that went very different for each of the squads. Also special guest USC men's assistant coach Will Conroy joins the show to chat about returning to Seattle to take on the school where he set the career assists record and coached at for nine years before taking the job with the Trojans this offseason. Conroy talks about coaching under Eric Musselman and why the coaching staff chose to switch things up in practice after suffering back-to-back losses in the Acrisure Series Thanksgiving week. He also gives a scouting report on new USC four-star signee Jerry Easter. Shotgun and Connor look at where the men and women's programs stand after each picked up its first Big Ten conference win and preview the upcoming week of action at the Galen Center. The Women of Troy take on Elon Sunday as their final tune up before heading across the country to Connecticut to face off against UConn next weekend. A familiar face will be on the opposing bench when the USC men take on Montana State Sunday as former wing Max Agbonkpolo suits up for the Bobcats. Jarquez Carter is ready to make his call. The Class of 2025 defensive tackle from Newberry, Fla., will announce his college choice on Thursday. If Carter chooses Ohio State over Miami (Fla.), Florida and several others, it would give the Buckeyes six defensive linemen in this cycle. We (would) love that. Carter is not the lone Ohio State target ready to pick a school. Trey McNutt is ready. Will Conroy is ready not to go to Ohio State. The Buckeyes are also chasing several prospects in SEC territory. Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter are here to provide clarity. It's what they do. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! Ohio State is streaking towards the No. 1 overall class in the 247Sports recruiting rankings. Guess who's making a serious run at the same crown? Them Ducks. We also have two Ohioans to discuss - Trey McNutt and Will Conroy. Will that duo need to adjust to the Western time zone for college? And invest in galoshes? It's possible. Oregon is not only predicated to be chief competition for B1G on-field supremacy, Dan Lanning and Co. are recruiting with a purpose (and Nike backing, let's be honest). We dive deep on that emerging threat and so much more with Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - took a day to absorb the fallout from the news that Washington Athletic Director Troy Dannen would be leaving UW after 167 days on the job to take the same job at Nebraska. And while today is the first day of what is traditionally known as 'March Madness', UW fans have been dealing lately with an entirely different type of madness. Why? Why now? And for what purpose? So many questions, and even a day later many of those questions remain only partially answered. In the first part of the podcast, they talk about their initial reactions to the news, how this will affect things like buyouts moving forward, and also why they think Dannen's move happened now, rather than years from now. There are a number of stories that have surfaced in the last 24 hours since Dannen's departure that have certainly illuminated the situation and helped clarify some of the reasons that may have been leading Dannen out the door after less than six months on the job. After a quick break, most of the rest of the podcast talks about the vacant men's head basketball coaching position, how Dannen's departure fits into the hiring timeline for UW - did he put in enough legwork behind the scenes to allow interim AD Erin O'Connell to push a hire across the line? Will it be Utah State Head Coach Danny Sprinkle, as has been long rumored? Will the AD have to completely reset their list of candidates and go in a different direction entirely? Will they wait until a permanent AD is hired before tackling the process of making the next hire? And where is Will Conroy's place in all of this? Will he come back with an interim tag as part of an eventual move to make him Washington's next head coach? What about Quincy Pondexter's future? Ben Lee's? Mike Hopkins? The guys talk about that, the role Parker Executive Search will have in making UW's next hires. They were the group Washington used in the hiring of Jedd Fisch, their newest deputy AD Haven Fields, and they were also the group responsible for Nebraska's AD search. There's also a quick recruiting update from Scott and we wrap things up with an update on one of our favorite contributors - AANDY - and also comment on Dannen's prepared statement to Washington fans that he posted on social networks as we were wrapping up our show. The Washington Huskies should be preparing to move on from head basketball coach Mike Hopkins, who hasn't made the NCAA Tournament with the team since the 2018-19 season and has struggled this year despite having the Pac-12 scoring leader in Keion Brooks Jr., and the conference's assists leader Sahvir Wheeler. Locked On Huskies hosts Roman Tomashoff and Lars Hanson discuss why Hopkins may not have been fired just yet, why Conroy could be the right person for the job, and what the Washington basketball team will need to make its way back into March Madness.Locked On Huskies is part of the Locked On Podcast Network.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!IbottaRight now, Ibotta is offering our listeners $5 just for trying Ibotta by using the code LOCKEDONCOLLEGE when you register.LinkedInThese days every new potential hire can feel like a high stakes wager for your small business.
