This might be the wildest story we've ever told on Unglossy — and that's saying something. This week, Bun B, Jeffrey Sledge, and Tom Frank sit down with Owen Hanson, better known as The California Kid or The Cocaine Quarterback. Once a USC walk-on turned national champion, Owen's life took a sharp left turn from the football field into international drug trafficking, cartel money, federal prison, and headlines that sound fictional until you realize they're not.Fresh off the Amazon Prime docuseries Cocaine Quarterback, Owen breaks his silence on what really happened — from how the documentary came together, to what it got right (and what it couldn't fully show), to how you rebuild an identity when your name becomes a cautionary tale. This isn't a glamorized crime story. It's a raw conversation about ambition, ego, consequences, survival, and second chances. We talk life inside prison, hustling legally and illegally, the mindset it takes to endure a decade behind bars, and how Owen turned a mop bucket, protein powder, and sheer will into a legitimate business on the outside. From USC glory to federal time… and from rock bottom to redemption — this episode is about what happens after everything falls apart. No polish. No excuses. Just the truth. This is Unglossy.Send us a textSupport the show
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio talking about the Trojans bowl bid, facing off against the TCU Horned Frogs in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Sitting at 9-3, USC has an opportunity for a double-digit win total with a win over the Frogs in San Antonio. Over the past two seasons, the Trojans have utilized the extra 15 bowl practices well, developing some of the younger players on the roster and bringing home bowl victories to help kickstart the following season. The crew also discusses the off-season roster movement, with players entering the portal and the No. 1 recruiting class waiting in the wings. They also speculate on which players will be available for the Alamo Bowl and which are likely to opt out. With rival Notre Dame making headlines after being left out of the College Football Playoffs and opting out of a bowl game, the team discusses the Fighting Irish's place in the college football landscape and if their fallout with the ACC could impact the future of the rivalry. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans accepting a bid to play in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on December 30, taking on the 8-4 TCU Horned Frogs from the Big 12 Conference. Coach Hyde discusses why playing in these bowl games is important for the development of the team, even though he wanted the Trojans to take on a higher ranked opponent following the 9-3 season. The guys also discuss how head coach Lincoln Riley was able to secure the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the country, holding off a late push by Oregon, and why this was such an important development for this Trojan football program that is trying to get back to elite status. Coach feels USC should be in the upper echelon of high school recruiting each and every season, and this 2026 class is a great way to get the ball rolling in that direction again. They also take a look at some of the USC football players that declared they will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in January and what sort of impact those departures could have. They give their thoughts on the College Football Playoff field including rival Notre Dame being left out and coach talks about why he feels it was a bad move for the Irish to skip out on a bowl game. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio recapping USC's 29-10 victory over UCLA, capping a 9-3 season for the Men of Troy and a likely trip to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl and an opportunity to win 10 games. With star wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane suspended for the first quarter for violating team rules, the offense struggled in the first half and only managed to put one touchdown on the board. Things picked up in the second half for USC, with the offense putting up points and the defense pitching another shutout, dashing UCLA's hopes of an upset bid in the Battle for Los Angeles. The guys breaks down the game, talking about how missing the top-2 receivers set the offense back in the first half and some of the defensive struggles that led to the Bruins taking the lead in a game for the first time in 40 days. After halftime quarterback Jayden Maiava settled in and found his two stars, Lemon for a 32-yard touchdown and Lane on a couple of crucial drive-extending catches. King Miller also ran well, finishing with 124 yards rushing, 42 receiving and two total touchdowns, earning him USC's player of the game. Finishing the regular season 9-3 is better than most expected, but in some ways it still feels like a disappointment with the opportunity to make the College Football Playoffs just a missed field goal at Illinois away. The guys take a look at the season as a whole and discuss why Lincoln Riley said this campaign was an important springboard towards the future success of this Trojan football team. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's disappointing 42-27 loss at Oregon, knocking the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff picture. The loss only dropped SC two spots in the latest CFP top-25 rankings, but with three losses there is essentially no chance to climb up into the top-11 to secure one of the at-large spots. The Trojans will wrap up the regular season with an opportunity to go 9-3, facing off against crosstown rival UCLA in the Coliseum Saturday afternoon. The Bruins started the season looking like the worst team in the country, fired head coach DeShaun Foster, named Tim Skipper as the interim head coach, fired offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri, named Jerry Neuheisel as the play caller and then did the impossible, beat No. 7 Penn State. The Bruins went on to beat Michigan State and Maryland, then came crashing back down to earth, losing the last four games by a combined 129 points. The crew gives their thoughts on the concerns coming out of the Oregon game, the potential for overlooking the Bruins, where the team is health wise and Lincoln Riley's future with the USC football program. With the playoffs off the table, they also discuss which bowl games are the most likely and who some of the potential opponents could be. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping USC's 42-27 loss to Oregon, knocking the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff picture. Facing the No. 7 ranked Ducks, the No. 15 Trojans needed to play a clean game in Autzen Stadium and unfortunately it was anything but from Lincoln Riley and company. Major special teams blunders, including a leaping penalty on a punt and punt return for a touchdown, put points directly on the board for Oregon and that was simply too much for the Trojans to overcome. The crew breaks down the game, discussing what went right for the Men of Troy and what went wrong, and how the Ducks provided a real opportunity for an upset with some sloppy play of their own. Offensively USC put up 100 more passing yards than any of Oregon's opponents this season, but Jayden Maiava did have two costly interceptions and the run game was essentially non existent. Defensively USC played better in the second half but just couldn't get enough stops to slow down the Ducks potent offense. Special teams was an absolute disaster, starting with a kickoff out of bounds, a kick catch interference call, leaping that took away a USC stop and led to a Ducks touchdown, giving up a punt return for a touchdown and then a missed short field goal. At a minimum that cost USC 17 points in a game it lost by 15. Despite the loss, the potential for 10 wins is still a major improvement over last season, but being unable to pull off a win in any of the three toughest road games is a tough pill to swallow for the Trojans. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans falling well short on the road against the Ducks, with a disappointing performance that included far too many self inflicted wounds. Coach feels that USC had enough talent on the team to win the game, but too often the players and coaches beat themselves. He felt both sides made plenty of mistakes and for the Trojans, you can't do that when you are playing a great football team. USC needed to play its best game and take advantage of Oregon's weaknesses and that simply didn't happen. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans second half surge against Iowa Saturday afternoon in a soggy Coliseum. After falling behind 21-7 in the first half, USC's offense came to life and the defense shut down the Hawkeyes en route to a hard-fought 26-21 victory that keeps the dream of a College Football Playoffs berth alive. Coach Hyde talks about how this team was able to "Fight On" through adversity, falling behind early in the game and dealing with miserable weather conditions that suited the visitor much more than the home team. Sitting at 8-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play, USC has a huge opportunity heading to Oregon this weekend with College Gameday and the entire country watching. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping the Trojans 26-21 come from behind victory over the Hawkeyes in a stormy Coliseum. The weather favored the visitors, with heavy rains bogging down the playing surface and adding extra challenges to the passing attacks. Iowa jumped out to an early lead, surprisingly through the air, and kept USC off-balance for most of the first half. Head coach Lincoln Riley and his squad got things right in the second half, shutting down the Hawkeyes on offense and utilizing wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane, allowing USC to overcome Riley's largest halftime deficit in the Coliseum. Connor and Riley have finally dried out and talk about their experiences in a rare rain game in the Coliseum and how the Trojans fought through adversity, showed some toughness and grit and delivered what Riley called a "culture win" for USC. The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the strong start of the 2025-26 season for the Trojans' men and women's basketball programs, including a top 10 win on the East Coast for the Women of Troy. Shotgun and Connor talk about the outstanding comeback victory over No. 9 North Carolina State in Charlotte that saw the USC women score the final eight points of the game, closing out the game with four minutes of scoreless defense and a game-winning bucket from freshman Jazzy Davidson with 8.2 seconds remaining. The podcasting duo also take a look at the USC men getting a pair of blowout wins that saw three different players score 20+ points in the season opener against Cal Poly and seven different players score in double figures while putting up 114 points -- most since scoring 117 points against Arizona State in 1998 -- in a victory over Manhattan. Shotgun and Connor break down all four of the games with their patented Triple-Double segment. After a break, they look at where the two programs stand after the first week of the season and look forward to some intriguing matchups this weekend with the men taking on Illinois State in the Intuit Dome in a multi-team event and the women facing off Dawn Staley's No. 2 South Carolina squad in Crypto.com Arena in what could be a second- or third-weekend NCAA tournament preview. The USC Triple-Double concludes with a look at the signing classes for each program as the Women of Troy signed the No. 1 player in the nation for the third time in four years and one of the top international players while Eric Musselman's staff went twinning, signing the sons of a former NBA elite rim protector. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's victory over Northwestern on Friday night in the Coliseum, with the Trojans pouring it on in the second half. The victory was an important one where the offense got back on track and the defense for the second week in a row played much better in the third and fourth quarters. Sitting at 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Big Ten play, USC is set up for a run at the College Football Playoffs if it can win the final three games on the schedule. First up on that run for a playoff berth is Iowa, coming up a last-second loss at home to Oregon. The Hawkeyes want to slow the game down, play defense and make some plays on special teams while the Trojans like to open things up and make big plays up and down the field. It will be a clash of styles in the Coliseum with a higher spot in the Big Ten hierarchy on the line. The crew gives their thoughts on how the team performed against Northwestern and looks ahead to the showdown with Iowa. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans taking care of business Friday night against Northwestern, winning 38-17 thanks to big nights by Jayden Maiava, King Miller and Makai Lemon plus the defense locking things down in the second half. Coach Hyde likes what he saw from the offense, bouncing back after the struggles in Lincoln by Maiava and the passing game. Coach sees what Riley is doing on offense now and he feels he likes the path Riley is trying to navigate heading into the final stretch of the season. Maiava also showed a lot of fight and Coach likes what he is doing on and off the field as a leader of the team. On the defensive side this is the second week in a row that coordinator D'Anton Lynn has made adjustments at halftime and tightened things up after the break, giving up just 3 points in each of the last two games. They also talk about where USC is in the Big Ten hierarchy, where Coach thinks the Trojans talent level lines up and the conference looking into the fake punt that had quarterback Sam Huard wear the same number as the punter, helping to disguise the play. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping what was another impressive performance in the Coliseum, a 38-17 victory over Northwestern on Friday night. The Trojans and Wildcats were close in the first half, but an amazing defensive play by Jayden Maiava gave USC new life and sparked a 14-point swing. In the second half the Trojan defense took over, allowing only a lone field goal after the break. The crew gives their thoughts on the Trojan offense getting things rolling again, with Jayden Maiava back to his old form, King Miller rushing for over 100-yards in his first Coliseum start and Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane both bringing their 'A' games. On the defensive side, it was a rough start after Northwestern scored touchdowns on its first two drives, but after that the USC defense was able to tighten up and keep the Wildcats out of the end zone, only allowing 3 points the rest of the way. They also discuss where the 7-2 (5-1) Trojans are in the Big Ten standings, with a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoffs if they can win out. The road gets tougher over the next couple of weeks, with a tough Iowa squad coming to the Coliseum followed by a difficult road trip to Eugene to take on the No. 9 Oregon Ducks. The Trojans are coming off a late night win in Lincoln and have a short week to prepare for Northwestern, a program travelling a couple thousand miles to Los Angeles but is also fully rested after a bye week. USC leads the series 5-0 with the last meeting being the 1995 Rose Bowl, a game the Trojans won 41-32. The crew takes a look at some of the key matchups in the game and talk about some of the similarities between the Wildcats and the Cornhuskers. Northwestern has a very effective run game like Nebraska, and both programs excel in pass defense. We saw what the Huskers were able to do to Jayden Maiava, but will the Wildcats be able to do something similar? They also discuss some of the rumors circling around head coach Lincoln Riley regarding the ever turning college football coaching carousel, what it means for the USC/Notre Dame series with the Irish scheduling a home and home with Auburn and the Trojans No. 19 ranking in the college football playoff rankings. Bill opened the show by explaining why LeBron James should ask for a trade away from the Lakers amid their hot start to the season. Bill the debated a few landing spots that would make sense for LeBron before diving into Would You Rather, where Bill decided between cloning himself or cloning his dog and pursuing an acting or musical career. Hour two opened with Super Bowl champion Brady Poppinga joining the show to discuss what he makes of the Packers up and down start and whether the Patriots and Colts are legit. Buy or Sell was next as Bill answered if Lincoln Riley would leave USC for LSU and if the Raiders will have more turnovers than touchdowns against the Broncos. The show ended with Bill discussing the NFL teams with the most to prove in the second half of the season.

The Trojans couldn't get the passing game going in Lincoln, but the run game and the defense kept the game within reach before Jayden Maiava could get things rolling with his legs. The 21-17 comeback victory was an important result, keeping the Trojans alive in the race for the College Football Playoffs heading into the final stretch of the season. Anna Watson from The Daily Northwestern joins the show to give her thoughts on this Wildcat squad and what challenges they can give the Trojans on Friday night. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping Saturday night's USC's 21-17 comeback "Blackout" victory over Nebraska in Lincoln. It was not the cleanest game for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans, but it was an important result that was desperately needed. Now at 6-2 and 4-1 in Big Ten play, No. 20 USC's hopes of reaching the College Football Playoffs are still alive with three home games and one road trip to Eugene left on the schedule. The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key storylines from the game, including an amazing performance by walk-on running back King Miller. Making just his second start, Miller ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts and was the main weapon for the Trojans offense with Jayden Maiava having an off night. The defense stepped up and made plays after Nebraska's opening drive touchdown, forcing a sack/fumble that knocked Dylan Raiola out of the game and coming up big in the second half, only allowing a single field goal to the Huskers. Kicker Ryon Sayeri was also one of the stars of the evening, hitting both of his field goals including one that was just shy of 50 yards. The steady redshirt freshman from Chaminade High School has converted on 14 of his 15 field goal attempts and has been an absolute weapon for USC this season That was the Trojans second Big Ten plane ride road trip victory of the season and Riley and company have a quick turnaround, facing the 5-3 (3-2 B1G) Northwestern Wildcats Friday night in the Coliseum coming off of their bye week. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans notching an important road win in Lincoln, taking down Nebraska 21-17. Winning ugly isn't the goal, but it is much better than the alternative of losing, and with the long travel and hyped up crowd in an impressive "blackout," it was an important victory for Lincoln Riley and his squad. Coach Hyde talked about how necessary this win was for USC, going against a traditional power, a Big Ten foe that was looking for revenge after losing in the Coliseum last year, and a fan base that looked at the game as the biggest event in the state. The Cornhuskers were all in and in year's past, the Trojans likely don't win this game but Saturday night, despite not playing particularly well, USC pulled off the win. With another impressive performance by running back King Miller, Coach Hyde feels this team's identity is the run game, helped by a constantly shifting offensive line and some great tight end play. The Trojans can run the ball and that was essentially the only offensive aspect that was working Saturday night in Lincoln. Defensively Coach Hyde feels they played better, with full knowledge that Nebraska was limited offensively especially in the second half when Dylan Raiola was knocked out of the game. Coach Harvey Hyde has been part of the Peristyle Podcast since 2008 and in the USC football world he is an expert on X's and O's, personnel, coaching philosophies and recruiting. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio previewing what is turning out to be an extremely important game for the Trojans following the loss at Notre Dame, a trip to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. The 6-2 Cornhuskers have revenge on their minds after falling to the Trojans in the Coliseum last season in what was Jayden Maiava's first start in Cardinal and Gold. For Lincoln Riley squad, this contest against Nebraska could be a turning point in the season, either by fixing the road woes and finishing strong or falling to the Huskers and once again looking for answers after losing a winnable game. The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) previewing the 2025-26 USC men's basketball season after the Trojans completed their preseason with a 67-61 victory at Grand Canyon to go 2-0 in exhibition play. But first the podcasting duo are joined by USC head coach Eric Musselman as he is about to embark on his second season with the Trojans. Musselman talks about what the coaching staff learned from the preseason scrimmages and how they use the early exhibitions in their assessment of who to put on the floor when the games actually count starting next week. He discusses his concerns with USC's shooting and offensive flow as well as where he thinks the defense is different this season. Musselman also talks about the emergence of Jerry Easter at the point guard spot and how Youngstown State transfer Gabe Dynes has surprised many with his impact on both ends of the court. Musselman provides injury updates on Rodney Rice and Alijah Arenas and discusses the new challenges of high school recruiting in the current era with the transfer portal and revenue sharing. After a break, Shotgun and Connor discuss what they saw from the exhibition and what can be gleaned from the action that featured the Trojans jumping out to another huge lead early and then holding off any rally attempts. The podcasters then give their superlative predictions for the USC men's basketball season. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the latest news and notes surrounding the USC men's and women's basketball programs, including the men's 60-51 win over Loyola Marymount in their first of two exhibitions. But first the podcasting duo are joined by sixth-year senior Auburn transfer Chad Baker-Mazara, who talks about how his basketball journey has taken him from the Dominican Republic to New Jersey and Ohio to Pittsburgh, San Diego and Florida before a two-year stint at Auburn and now back to the West in Los Angeles. He discusses how the preseason practices have been going for the Trojans, the big takeaways from USC's exhibition victory and how he's fitting into a new role this season with the Trojans. Baker-Mazara talks about his relationship with Rodney Rice and the rest of teammates before discussing his recruitment to USC, including a FaceTime with Eric Musselman that had CBM in disbelief and how trash talking Musselman's wife during his time in the SEC actually ended up strengthening the player/coach bond. After a break, Shotgun and Connor discuss what they saw from the exhibition and what can be gleaned from the action that featured 7-foot-5 Gabe Dynes coming off the bench to score nine points with eight rebounds and six blocks. The podcasters then discuss the Trojans' first two commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, twin forwards Darius and Adonis Ratliff, sons of former NBA All-Star Theo Ratliff, and talk about how viable it is for them to become immediate impact players at USC. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio breaking down USC's 34-24 loss at Notre Dame, where the Fighting Irish pushed the Trojans around to the tune of 306 rushing yards. It was not an unexpected loss, but certainly disappointing following the positive showing against Michigan the week before. After that win, head coach Lincoln Riley said USC had a tough, physical football team, but just a week later in South Bend it looked like the Trojans reverted to the team from last year that just couldn't put anything together on the road. The crew gives their thoughts on what USC needs to do during the bye week to get things right and prepare for another long road trip to Nebraska. They discuss what Riley said after Tuesday's practice, what the players revealed in their media availability and what they think this loss means for the rest of the season. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping the latest disappointing road game effort for the Trojans, getting pushed around on the line of scrimmage by the Fighting Irish in a 34-24 loss. Notre Dame ran for a ridiculous 306 including a record-setting 228 yards by ND tailback Jeremiyah Love, the most by a Fighting Irish player in the history of this series and the most ever by an ND player in Notre Dame Stadium. USC simply couldn't run the ball, gaining just 68 yards on the ground at a 2.3 yards per carry clip, and turned the ball over three times in the second half, dooming any chances of a comeback against the rival Irish. The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key storylines from the game, including the Notre Dame game plan to play a tight, physical contest all over the field and endure any pass interference calls that came along with it. The Trojans also failed to capitalize following any of the huge plays they generated, allowing the Irish to steal the momentum back almost immediately after the impressive opening touchdown drive, the Makai Lemon 42-yard reception and the Ja'Kobi Lane go ahead touchdown and two point conversion. Following the loss, USC once again fell out of the AP top-25 and once again will go into a bye week looking for answers to why the team played so poorly away from the friendly confines of the Coliseum. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans failing to build off of their victory over Michigan, falling to Notre Dame 34-23 in South Bend. The Fighting Irish absolutely pushed USC around on the lines of scrimmage, rushing for over 300 yards and holding the Trojans to just 68 yards on the ground. In two of the last three games the Trojans lacked the necessary toughness to play Big Ten big boy football, with both failing performances occurring on the road. Coach Hyde talks how this Trojan football team regressed, bouncing back after that disappointing loss at Illinois with a tough, gritty victory over Michigan, only to revert to the finesse team once again Saturday night in South Bend. He goes into what he liked about how USC performed and what the biggest issues were that led to yet another road defeat. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") intern India Otto are back in studio previewing a game that has been circled on USC's schedule, a road trip to rival Notre Dame. The No. 20 Trojans come in at 5-1 fresh off a 31-13 win over Michigan while the No. 13 Irish have won four-straight after starting 0-2 and are playing suffocating defense as of late. Both programs are looking for a huge win that would propel them into the College Football Playoff discussion as well as retain or take back the Jeweled Shillelagh (maybe forever?). The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key matchups in this game, with an elite USC offense taking on a stingy ND defense and run-focused Irish offense taking on a Trojan defense that bounced back against the run-focused Wolverines last week. They also discuss some of the key injuries for the game, with USC's top two running backs out and Notre Dame's starting center and defensive tackle out.
