Shareece Wright is an American former professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League. He played college football for the USC Trojans, and was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft. I actually played against this guy in high school, once he got drafted I didn't feel so bad about how bad they beat us.
In this special edition of Tunnel Vision hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka Triple Double) are back in studio and joined remotely by junior safety Christian Pierce. Thanks to House of Victory, the 6-foot-1, 200 pound safety out of Rancho Cucamonga High School had a lengthy interview with our hosts, talking about his progression as a player since arriving on campus, the experience he gained on the field last season, working with defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn and his push to become the Trojans starting safety in 2025. Pierce saw action in 13 games, mostly on special teams as a sophomore in 2024. He recorded eight tackles on the season. He played a season-high 33 snaps on defense against Rutgers and finished with 17 in the bowl game against the Aggies. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down the big news that USC baseball is officially back in the NCAA tournament after the Trojans were selected to regionals as an at-large team. Shotgun and Kasey discuss USC finally breaking the postseason drought and take a look back at the action from the Big Ten Tournament where the Trojans went 1-1 with a pair of one-run games but did not qualify for the tournament semifinals. They note three positives, including strong pitching from Caden Aoki and Mason Edwards in the conference tournament. They also look at USC's continued struggles leaving men on base and what it has to do to get that issue corrected in the postseason. After a break, USC head coach Andy Stankiewicz joins the show to talk about the Trojans making it back to a regional for the first time since 2015, his reaction as well as what it means for the players that went through being snubbed in 2023 and what it means for the program going forward . Stankiewicz also discusses how the Trojan coaching staff will try to use its postseason experience to prepare the players heading into some matchups where there is some familiarity with the coaches on the other staffs. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show previewing each of the teams that will also be in the Corvallis Regional alongside USC with host Oregon State, No. 2-seed TCU and four-seed Saint Mary's. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the 2025 USC football schedule and how the early November trip to Lincoln could be the determining factor for the Trojans having a successful campaign. After finishing the regular season 6-6 in 2024 with no true Big Ten road victories, USC will try to take a huge step forward and be a real factor in the conference title race this season. To do so, the Trojans will need to grind out some tough victories on the road and we are circling that November 1 date against the Cornhuskers as the barometer game for USC. Looking at the way too early top-25 polls USC will face a few ranked teams on the road including Notre Dame, Oregon and Illinois and face off against Michigan at home. The post-spring SP+ rankings have Notre Dame at No. 6, Oregon at No. 7, Michigan at No. 10, Illinois at No. 19 then Iowa at No. 28 and Nebraska at No. 34 (with USC at No. 30). No other program on the Trojans schedule is in the SP+ top-50. Most sportsbooks currently have USC's over/under win total at 7.5, but barely surpassing that with an 8-4 record likely wouldn't be enough for Trojan fans to feel the season was a success. If we assume the pair of top-10 road games are losses, it doesn't leave much room for error for the Trojans to get to that 9-win mark. To have any chance of success USC will need to win its tough home games, so let's assume the Trojans go 2-1 with Michigan, Iowa and at Illinois. That leaves the November 1 game against Nebraska as the lynchpin to a successful season. The Huskers, like the Trojans, did a lot of work in the off-season to try and improve and some even feel Nebraska could make a run at the College Football Playoffs. USC got the better of Nebraska last season in the Coliseum, so Matt Rhule and company will be trying to return the favor when the Trojans come to town. In our opinion, both programs will desperately need that victory to take the next step towards conference respectability. CLICK HERE for 30% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio discussing the future of the USC/Notre Dame football series. Since 1926 the Trojans and the Fighting Irish have met on the gridiron 95 times, but as of now the game isn't on the schedule after the 2025 college football season. The guys talk about what they have heard from inside the athletic department about the series and if they think the annual meeting between these two storied programs is actually in jeopardy of ending. The guys also discuss the latest on the Trojan football recruiting front, with USC's lead for the No. 1 spot in the 2026 recruiting class shrinking following the de-commit of five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin. They talk about if Griffin could still be in the mix for this USC class, who some of the other big names that are out there and if they anticipate any more players de-committing. With Big Ten athletic directors, coaches and presidents meeting this week, the guys talk about the changes in the college football landscape, including a proposed College Sports Commission that would oversee the new rules implemented by the House settlement. There is a major push to get all of the power FBS programs in line, though some programs and their state governments are pushing to keep unlimited pay for play with NIL collectives going indefinitely. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball finishing the regular season with a series loss on the road at Washington, winning in the finale after dropping five of six games prior. Shotgun and Kasey take a look at the action, noting three positives, including an electric performance from Mason Edwards as well as a positive outing from fellow left-handed pitcher Caden Hunter and Ethan Hedges breaking through with a big hit in extra innings. They also look at the end-of-regular-season struggles for the Trojans and what USC has to do to right the ship at the opportune time. After a break, USC pitching coach Sean Allen joins the show to talk about what can be expected from the Big Ten Tournament since he's coached in it previously and how the unique pod system the Big Ten has gone to this season changes the dynamic, especially as the top seed in one of the four pods. Allen also discusses what they've done to try to get both Edwards and Hunter back locked in on the mound to give the Trojans more depth, especially with the emergence of freshman Andrew Johnson. USC's pitching coach also gives an assessment of the season to this point for a staff that has endured some significant injuries and states the Trojans' case for the NCAA selection committee. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans' postseason hopes stand after back-to-back series losses but seeing their RPI climb in the last week. The podcast then previews USC's path in the Big Ten Tournament, including pitching matchups that could set up favorably for them. There is no agreement beyond the 2025 season
Does a federal judge have the power to halt an American president's agenda if that agenda tramples on core constitutional rights? Medi-Cal coverage for popular weight loss drugs is on the chopping block, and almost 20,000 USC Trojans are graduating; we hear one grad's remarkable story. The L.A. Local is sponsored by the LA Car Guy family of dealerships.
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio with special guest Harry Ruiz who is the Spanish voice of Trojans as well as the Las Vegas Raiders. We chat with Ruiz about his journey to become USC's Spanish play by play announcer, what some of his most memorable moments have been and his favorite calls from the booth. We also solicited questions from The Peristyle (the USCFootball.com message board) that we share with Ruiz at the end of the interview. Following the interview both Ryan and Connor will give their thoughts on USC hiring Trumain Carroll from Kansas State to be the new director of football sports performance, replacing Bennie Wylie. Carroll was well liked in Manhattan by the Wildcats staff and fans and could be a big boost for the Trojan football team going forward. The guys also discuss all of the news and notes around USC football recruiting including commitments from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Shaun Scott and San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon three-star linebacker Taylor Johnson. They also talk about a bold prediction from Chip Patterson on CBS's Cover 3 podcast where he foresaw the 2025 USC Trojans getting over the hump and making the College Football Playoffs for the very first time. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's disappointing series loss to Michigan State and subsequently falling out of the top 25 after an ever-so-brief appearance. Shotgun and Kasey take a look at the action, noting three positives and three negatives, including the variance in left-handed pitchers Caden Hunter and Mason Edwards as well as the Trojans' top left-handed hitter, Brayden Dowd, again putting a ball over the fence. After a break, USC head coach Andy Stankiewicz then joins the show to talk about trying to bounce back from a poor weekend at this point in the season along with how he assesses and adapts to fatigue late in the season, especially with the Trojans having to travel so much this season without a home field while playing in the Big Ten for the first time. Stankiewicz also discusses the struggles of Hunter and trying to work the Trojans' Friday ace back into shape as he deals with probably his first real failures in his baseball career. USC's head coach also talks about the unique challenges this time of year presents with finals leading into conference tournaments and the transfer portal about to open. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans stand after their first series loss since the opening weekend of Big Ten play and seeing their RPI slip down to No. 42. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming weekend of action with the Trojans heading up to Seattle to take on Eddie Smith's upstart Washington club. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's big rivalry series win over then-No. 14 UCLA that helped push the Trojans into the top 25 rankings for the first time since 2023. Shotgun and Kasey take a look at all the action, pointing out the positives of the Trojans improving to 32-16 with a 16-8 mark in Big Ten play and a third-place spot in the standings behind only Iowa and the Bruins. They discuss the power of names that start with the letter 'A' as well as the Trojans' ability to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss in the series opener to still be able to get the series win. Shotgun and Kasey also look at how USC boosted its resume behind strong production of a pair of Lopezes. The podcasters also discuss three negatives, including a growing trend for Caden Hunter and a tough outing for top reliever Brodie Burcell. USC hitting coach Travis Jewett then joins the show to talk about how the Trojans' offense was able to bounce back after failing to capitalize on opportunities in the series opener against UCLA, ending the game with the bases loaded in a one-run loss. He also discusses how the USC lineup has got longer and stronger as the season has progressed with the development of players like Andrew Lamb, Jack Basseer, Adrian and Augie Lopez. Jewett even talks about the art of helping hitters break out of slumps. After a break, Adrian Lopez joins the show to talk about his transfer portal journey that has taken him to two high schools and two colleges over the last four seasons and how he's found a home at USC, a place he didn't grow up rooting for but his whole family did. Lopez discusses his connection with Jewett and how the two have worked together this season. Lopez also shares his favorite between-inning festivity that takes place during games and talks about the connection of players, including ones on hated teams and those in the USC locker room. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another Big Ten series, improving their RPI briefly up to No. 29 (now No. 31). The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action with the Trojans taking on Big Ten Pitcher of the Year candidate Joseph Dzierwa and Michigan State at Great Park this weekend. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about what they learned from last week's USC assistant football coach media brunch, where six offensive and six defensive assistants sat down with the media for an hour, answering questions about how spring football went and what Trojan fans can expect from their respective position groups in the future. The USC football staff is a great mix of young, energetic coaches like cornerbacks coach Trovon Reed and inside receivers coach Chad Savage and older, veteran coaches like linebackers coach Rob Ryan. The guys talk about some of the highlights from what they heard from the staff and why they are optimistic that this group of coaches can turn things around in 2025. Coach Hyde also discusses the current state of USC football recruiting, with the Trojans building up a massive 2026 class that currently ranks No. 1 in the country. The focus has been on local prospects and it has paid off, with 27 commitments and counting including the impressive recent pledge from five-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe. They finish the show talking about the recent decision by head coach Lincoln Riley to let Director of Football Sports Performance Bennie Wylie go, taking USC's strength and conditioning program in another direction. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Shotgun Spratling and new intern Riley Sager are back in studio to discuss everything happening in the world of USC football, from recruiting to what all 12 assistant football coaches had to say this week at the media brunch. Our team starts off talking about the nearly unbelievable turnaround for USC football recruiting, both from the high school ranks and the NCAA Transfer Portal. Over the past five days the Trojans have picked up as many commits, four from high school and one from the portal. Things got started on Wednesday with three-star receiver Roderick Tezeno, Thursday USC added five-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe, Friday was four-star corner Elbert Hill, Saturday three-star receiver Luc Weaver before UCF transfer cornerback Chasen Johnson picked USC on Sunday. Lincoln Riley and his crew have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2026 and it isn't close, with 27 commitments and nearly 295 points (Notre Dame is second with 14 commits and 236 points). The efforts to focus on high school recruiting by new general manager Chad Bowden is paying off and the Trojans are not slowing down on the recruiting trail. On the team side, we were able to meet with 12 assistants on Wednesday at USC's media brunch, two hours of interviews that we filmed and uploaded to our YouTube page. We were able to gain a lot of insight into what the plan is for the off-season to turn things around on the field in 2025. Shotgun also spent the morning at the Under Armour Next Camp in Mission Viejo and shares his thoughts on how the Trojan commitments and targets performed, including defensive line MVP Simote Katoanga out of Santa Margarita (Calif.) and offensive line MVP Chase Deniz out of San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic. They will also talk about Riley's decision to let Director of Football Sports Performance Bennie Wylie go and head in a different direction for future of USC football strength and conditioning. Shotgun and Kasey take a look at all the action, pointing out the positives of the Trojans improving to 29-14 with 14-7 mark in Big Ten play and a third-place spot in the standings behind only UCLA and Iowa. They discuss the outstanding pitching outings of Andrew Johnson, Caden Aoki and Brodie Purcell as well as the offensive prowess of the Trojans' catchers. Shotgun and Kasey also look at how USC has been getting contributions from up and down the roster. The podcasters also try to find three negatives from the impressive weekend. They land on one conclusive one and stretch to find two others. After a break, USC junior college transfer Richard Tejeda joins the show to talk about his baseball journey going from the junior college ranks to being the primary backstop for a Big Ten-contending Trojan squad, including how he dealt with a big slump to start his Division I career and what adjustments he's made to be hitting .417 over his last nine games. Tejeda also discusses his connection with the pitching staff and starters Caden Hunter and Caden Aoki and what it was like catching Aoki as he came close to throwing a no-hitter Saturday. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another Big Ten series, improving their RPI to No. 38. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action with the Trojans taking on CSUN in midweek action before a huge rivalry series against UCLA down at Great Park next weekend. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio to recap all of the news and notes from the Trojans 15 spring football practices, including Saturday's rainy "Trojan Olympics" finale in the Coliseum. There was no traditional spring game this year, but the guys give their thoughts on what they saw and heard throughout spring football from key position battles to returning veterans making an impact to new faces making an impression. The guys will also talk about the different feel of spring practice this year, with increased buzz thanks to the new personnel staff inviting tons of top prospects from Southern California and all over the country. We haven't seen this many recruits consistently coming to practice in years, and it reflects the success USC recruiting has seen over the past couple of months building the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2026. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's 3-1 week that featured a series win over Gonzaga and a dominant midweek win over Long Beach State. Shotgun and Kasey break down all the action, looking at the positives of the Trojans improving to 26-14 with an 11-7 mark in Big Ten play and a fourth-place spot in the standings behind only two ranked teams and Iowa. They discuss the play of Adrian Lopez powering the offense all weekend against the Zags as well as Ethan Hedges seeming to get back on track after a rough spell. Shotgun and Kasey also look at how the Trojans were able to bounce back after dropping the opener against Gonzaga with some uncharacteristically sloppy play thanks to the bullpen stepping up throughout the week. The podcasters also look at three negatives, including Kevin Takeuchi reinjuring his left shoulder during Tuesday's win at Long Beach and the RPI hit that one poor game can have as the Trojans start looking toward the postseason. After a break, USC head coach Andy Stankiewicz then joins the show to talk about how the Big Ten schedule, including the back-and-forth travel, has treated his team and how his players have handled and adjusted to the differences and challenges. He also discusses how the Trojans have tried to deal with a spate of injuries with multiple pitchers lost for the season as well as Takeuchi's shoulder issues. Stankiewicz then takes the listener through some strategic thought processes of how he tries to use late-inning opportunities in blowout games as well as how he handles his star players being in a funk, especially later in the season. The Trojan head man chats about Hedges, Lopez, Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek, Caden Hunter, Andrew Johnson, Jack Basseer and others. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another series and taking a peek at where the Trojans could wind up in the postseason. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action with the Trojans heading to Minneapolis to take on an injury-riddled Minnesota team that continues to battle despite 11 significant injuries, including five of the season-ending variety. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the addition of former Penn State linebacker Te'Mere Robinson from the NCAA Transfer Portal. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound Robinson gives the Trojans' linebacker room some much needed depth. Robinson didn't play much on defense in his two years with the Nittany Lions (107 total defensive snaps), but he was having a solid spring camp in Happy Valley prior to entering the portal. USC also lost another player to the portal, redshirt freshman Jarvis Boatwright out of Clearwater, Florida did not see any action in 2024 and will now try his luck at another program for 2025. The guys also discuss all of the news and notes from spring practice including what Lincoln Riley had to say about the starting quarterback situation, the depth at defensive line and wide receiver and Trojan legend Troy Polamalu showing up at practice this week. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's 3-2 week that featured a midweek win over Loyola Marymount and another Big Ten road series win for the Trojans before USC dropped a midweek against Hawai'i that they couldn't close out with the lead. Shotgun and Kasey break down all the action, looking at the positives of the Trojans improving to 23-13 with an 11-7 mark in Big Ten play, bumping up to fourth in the standings behind only two ranked teams and Iowa. They discuss the play of the Cadens (Hunter and Aoki) at the front of the weekend pitching rotation as well as Big Ten Player of the Week Abbrie Covarrubias and the bounce backs of a couple of players, who were unfazed by a poor performance early in the weekend. The podcasters also look at three negatives, including the continued black hole that is USC's Sunday starting pitching role and not being able to close out a couple of winnable games because of mistakes and free bases. USC director of baseball performance Adam Thackery then joins the show to talk about his transition from football strength and conditioning at USC to working with the Trojan baseballers. He talks about what he thinks it takes to win a national championship having been the strength coach for the 2021 national champion Mississippi State Bulldogs, gives his favorite Mike Leach story and discusses the intricacies of training two completely separate groups with pitchers (and the differences between starters and relievers) and hitters. After a break, Shotgun and Kasey take a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another conference series and take a peek at where the Trojans could wind up in the postseason. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action with the Trojans hosting a surging Gonzaga team that has won 15 of 18 in a Thursday-Friday-Saturday Easter weekend series before having a midweek matchup with Long Beach State. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the highly anticipated opening of the spring NCAA Transfer Portal Window and how active will the Trojans be? Head coach Lincoln Riley has said USC would do their portal evaluations and add the "right couple of guys" to help them get ready for the season. With the House settlement potentially passing, allowing athletic departments to share revenue with student athletes, will that make this spring portal a Portal Palooza or more of a Portal Passivity? All eyes will be on the quarterback position, where following the season many thought the Trojans would be in the market for a signal caller. It still isn't out of the question that USC brings in a QB, but it just doesn't seem very likely at this point. We have heard the Trojans aren't interested in former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava, but with Tennessee now scouring the country for Nico's replacement, that could cause a domino effect that opens up a potential quarterback poaching opportunity for Lincoln Riley. The guys also discuss all of the news and notes from spring practice including tight end Lake McRee shutting it down for the rest of spring due to an undisclosed injury and redshirt freshman defensive end Lorenzo Cowan entering the portal. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together taking a detailed look at USC's quarterback situation and the potential national QB shakeup with Nico Iamaleava and Tennessee parting ways. Coach Hyde and Ryan give their thoughts on the entire QB picture for USC and what this stunning NIL development means for the future of college football. Coach Hyde also discusses who he feels is the current face of the Trojan football program, what areas he feels this team has improved on this off-season, if the offensive philosophy has or should change going forward, how tough will the Big Ten be in 2025 and why is spring football such a big secret all of a sudden. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's 4-0 week that featured a midweek win over San Diego State and the Trojans' first Big Ten series sweep after they rallied late in back-to-back games to finish off Ohio State. That included being down to their final out Sunday before Brayden Dowd hit a game-tying home run, and USC won on a Dean Carpentier walk-off. Shotgun and Kasey break down all the action, looking at the positives of the Trojans improving to 20-11 with a 9-6 mark in the Big Ten with their comeback ability and the clutch gene of Dowd. The podcasters also look at three negatives on each side, including the continued black hole that is USC's Sunday starting pitching role. USC two-way star Ethan Hedges then joins the show to talk about his transition to being on the mound this season after being exclusively a hitter his first two seasons with the Trojans. He discusses how he's been able to unlock his power potential, hitting 11 home runs already this season after having just four combined in his first two seasons. Hedges also chats about the 'one-more-run' mentality the Trojans have this season and how that's helped them come from behind in multiple games this season. After a break, Shotgun and Kasey take a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another conference series, including multiple players ranking amongst the Big Ten and national leaders. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action, beginning with a midweek matchup at their home away from home as the Trojans will be the road team against Loyola Marymount at Page Stadium where USC has been playing its midweek 'home' games. The Trojans then head to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions in a battle of two teams tied for fifth in the Big Ten standings. They also debate what type of transfer portal options the USC women could target and what the roster could look like next season. The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's 2-2 week that featured a missed opportunity against a ranked UC Irvine team in the midweek and an outstanding come-from-behind win to take a road series win at Indiana behind another big performance from Ethan Hedges. USC director of player development Sergio Brown, who showed the podcast duo around the grounds, joins the show to talk about the latest development and progression of both the stadium and the Trojan players. Brown discusses the unique elements the new Dedeaux Field will have and how valuable it has been for the team to be able to use the field surface for practice while the stadium is essentially being built around them starting about a month ago. The interview with Brown concludes with some discussion about the Trojans' series win over Indiana where USC rallied from down 12-3 to win the series finale with 10 unanswered runs capped by a Brayden Dowd go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth inning. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the highly anticipated start to spring football 2025, where head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans have 15 practices to acclimate the new players and coaches in preparation for the upcoming season. As a former division one head football coach, Hyde talks about what he would like to see this team get done in the spring in order to get the program going in the right direction, competing for conference championships and a spot in the College Football Playoffs. USC lost a lot of close games last season, including five where the Trojans had a fourth quarter lead. Coach Hyde talks about what he feels this team needs to do in order to be prepared for the end of game scenarios, turning those close losses into victories (and ensuring the game isn't close against overmatched opponents). Coach Hyde also gives his thoughts on the new-look roster with some prominent names missing and some promising new faces roaming the sidelines. From a deep and talented running backs room to a bigger and more athletic defensive line, the guys discuss where they think this team will be better on the field and where they feel they still need to improve. He also talks about the traditional spring game being removed and what Riley had to say about the reasoning behind it. CLICK HERE for 50% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the Women of Troy's advancement to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season and the monumental cost that came with USC defeating Mississippi State, 96-59, in the Round of 32 matchup. Shotgun and Connor recall their immediate reactions of JuJu Watkins' devastating knee injury and discuss the impact the injury will have not only on this year's NCAA tournament but also on the future of the Trojans' program. They also talk about the charged-up atmosphere inside the Galen Center and debate whether or not the home crowd took it too far in their booing and jeering of the Bulldogs. After a break, USC freshman point guard Kayleigh Heckel joins the show. She talks about the Trojans' bouncing back from the loss of their teammate to go out and pummel Mississippi State for the rest of the game as the Trojans outscored MSU 83-57 after Watkins went down to the floor in pain. Heckel discusses how the team dynamics change without Watkins' presence and discusses the freshman class she is a part of that will need to step up the rest of the way this postseason. She chats about the bond the freshman group has as well as her relationships with some of the older players, including Kiki Iriafen and Watkins, who helped recruit Heckel to USC. Shotgun and Connor then look at where the Women of Troy stand heading into a Sweet 16 matchup with No. 5-seed Kansas State and debate who needs to step up the most for the Trojans to continue their season. The podcasting duo also do as much looking ahead as possible with undetermined rosters at the men's basketball team's Crown Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas.
