The Boy Scouts’ Motto is Be Prepared!  But what could have possibly prepared eleven, twelve and even fifteen year olds for encounters with sexual predators?  Especially when the same predators were suppose to teach these children high moral values.  There are hundreds of accounts of these sexual molestation cases contained in what is termed the “Perversion Files” or "ineligible volunteer files".  According to the Scouts these files were meant to be a “buffer” to prevent the predators from re-entering scouting.  Unfortunately there have been numerous failures.  After analyzing the files it was determined that in many instances sexual deviants were kicked out of the Scouts only to be allowed back in at a different location and sometimes under a different name.  The stories are horrendous!  The stories tell in somewhat explicit detail of boys being subjected to nudity, being fondled and raped by their Scout Masters.  Keep in mind these are children.  Keep in mind the Boy Scouts’ motto, “Be Prepared”.  Be prepared for what and by whom? Certainly, it would have been wonderful if these boys were prepared in some foolproof manner for these encounters with immoral predators.  But who would have prepared them?  The Boy Scouts?  With their history, how likely would that be?  And how would they have been prepared?  These are just some of the questions we’ll seek to gain answers to through the Holy Scriptures in this program. http://www.livebinders.com/edit/index/632664#

Prominent Atheist, Richard Dawkins, admitted to God’s existence or at least to a very small chance that God exists.  This admission took place in a debate with Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury.  This debate was not what was expected of two men deemed to be polar opposites on the existence of God and evolution.  Not only did Dawkins give the nod to God’s existence but the Archbishop apparently agreed with evolution.  If these two men, who are highly esteemed and notable in their achievements in opposing arenas, can come to agreement, is this an indication that we all may some-day come to similar conclusions?  Listen in as the Brothers in The Virtual Living Room discuss God’s existence and evolution.

Initially she objected, but now the mother of a 5 year old boy has conceded to her son’s desire to wear dresses. Not only has she conceded, but she has written a children’s book in defense of her little boy who wears girls clothing. The editors of GQ Magazine have written an article disparaging the Bible by placing it on a list of 21 literary pieces that they say are not worth reading.  Fox News religion contributor Father Jonathan Morris came to the defense of the Bible stating “Even if you don't believe this is an inspired word of God, in the last 50 years 3.9 billion have read the book."

The notable Rev. Carlton Pearson recently appeared on CNN and discussed the Bishop Eddie Long debacle as well as the Gospel of Inclusion. In the, approximately nine minute long interview, the Rev. Pearson made some… let’s say very interesting points. Basically, he conveys that everyone can go to Heaven regardless of religious persuasion or sexual orientation.

All across the most powerful country in the world, men, women and children will give the most endearing honor to their Mothers on Mother’s Day.  Mothers may be honored with various festivities including: greeting cards, flowers, gifts, lavish meals, money and more.  Above all mothers will be honored with devoted attention.  And just as with most holidays, these practices take place without serious consideration as to why.  Why is Mother’s Day celebrated?  Why is Mother’s Day not mentioned in the Holy Scriptures?  Is Mother’s Day a new holiday or is it rooted in ancient practices?

What constitutes a family seems to be ever changing in the United States of America and around the world. The word family conjures and image of a man married to a woman with children together. That image is still typical. But you also have the divorced man and divorced woman with children from previous marriages. You know the Brady Bunch type that became the new normal in the 70’s. An eighteen year old girl is suing her parents in a New Jersey court.  The girl said the parents kicked her out of their home and refuses to provide any financial support although they are clearly able.  The parents say she left on her own will because she didn’t want to follow their rules.

How do we stop the killings in our inner cities? This is one of the greatest questions being asked in our communities. Many of our political and religious leaders have tried to address this issue, and have failed. The rallies and marches continue to be unfruitful.  The saddest part is that none of these religious leaders have attempted to address this issue from a biblical perspective,  the bible has the solution to this serious problem. Same-sex marriage is a phrase that conjures quite a bit of contention.  The contentions are subject to arise in any organization whether it is a family, workplace, the military or church.  The Episcopal Church it seems has sided with same-sex marriage by allowing the marriage of two of their lesbian clergy members.  Of course, this marriage has brought on contention.  But why does the contention occur?  Is there really something wrong with same-sex marriage?  If there were something wrong with same-sex marriage don’t you think members of the clergy would know that?

Parents have you ever taken something from your child due to the child’s ill behavior?  Would you think the police would ever get involved?  I know you don’t and that’s exactly what one Dallas, Texas father thought.  To his surprise he was arrested for taking his 12 year old daughter’s cell phone due to the daughter’s mis-behavior. Shakespeare said, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” and the same applies to the term Sugar Daddy.  No matter the term the meaning is still the same.  Traditionally this is a rich usually middle-aged or old man who bestows expensive gifts on a young woman in return for companionship or sexual favors.  Today, this relationship can be found in other combinations.  Not just a rich old man and a young woman.  The Sugar relationship can be found as a rich older woman and a young man.  In fact, you name the gender combinations and you’ll be able to find a “Sugar Relationship” in the mix somewhere. These relationships appear to be mutually beneficial.  Money exchanged for romance and companionship on some level.  But does the benefit carry true substance or is it merely superficial?  Do these relationships cause harm that most people don’t perceive?  In other words what’s so bad about the Sugar Daddy?

In today's world, just as in ancient days, there are numerous religions. The dominant religions of today, Christianity, Judaism and Islam, have divisions commonly termed as denominations, sects or persuasions. Some people profess their religion is the only one that ensures salvation. Other people believe there are many religions that lead to a common salvation. Are they all correct?

Louisiana Rapper Kevin Gates, has revealed he dated his cousin for two years.  According to TMZ, Kevin Gates said “If you doing something you're ashamed of, you ain't got no business doing it.”  Would you date your cousin?  Does Gates have a good point?

Ever since Christ was resurrected and ascended to heaven there have been those predicting his return.  Obviously, they were wrong as Christ has not returned and established his kingdom.  On the contrary, the entire earth is enveloped in corrupt behavior in all facets of life.  For those desiring to live in countries and communities permeated by righteous living there is longing for Christ’s return.  But when will he return?  It’s been roughly 2,000 years since he ascended into heaven.  Does the bible give any clues so that one can determine if his return is near or far away?  Can the calculation of his return be narrowed to within a year or even a decade?  Is there some condition that must be satisfied before his return?  Questions like these will be entertained in the Virtual Living Room of The Body of Christ Church as we discuss “Predicting The Return Of Christ”.

Disease - A disorder or incorrectly functioning organ, part, structure of system of the body resulting from the effect of genetic or developmental errors,infection, poisons, nutritional deficiency or imbalance, toxicity, or unfavorable environmental factors, illness; sickness; ailment. In today's world, if someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, because of their addiction, they would be diagnosed as having a disease.  This is usually descibed as a mental imbalance due to their lack of self control. Could this also be true for other things that we do that we know are wrong, unhealthy, or, most importantly, unrighteous in the eyes of GOD? But because of our lack of self control or lust, we are unable to or have a very difficult time quiting (repenting). Children are not being raised with proper morals and values. How can this very serious problem be corrected? After choosing among hundreds of religions and not finding one that is satisfying why not make your own religion?  According to recent study Americans are customizing their religion to fit their personal needs.  For some people customized religion is not true religion.  For other people being in a religion that fits them personally is fulfilling, satisfying and righteous.  But is there anything wrong with either perspective?  And if something is wrong with either perspective which perspective is right?

Is Christ really in Christmas or is this as some say, a sacrilegious holiday? Where is Jesus in Christmas? Is he in Yuletide carols, Christmas trees or stockings? Where is Jesus? Where do you find the Jesus spoken of in the Holy Bible in any of the rites and rituals of Christmas? Is Jesus really the reason for the season?

There is perhaps no observance worldwide that more people celebrate than Christmas.  For anyone celebrating Christmas it is marked by sheer sensual joy!  Every sense is titillated with everything from songs to food and decorations to seasonal smells of trees and baked goods and even to those special intimate moments with that someone special in your life.  If you love your children you should teach them these things so they may experience the same joy.  Right?

The Christmas Tree is decked with ornaments, the floor below is covered with gifts and the trees’ pleasant Christmas-ie fragrance permeates the home as Christmas music delights the ears. The Christmas Season is the very best time of year for many. The Christmas Spirit fills the air amid scurrying shoppers and merry makers. There’s the anticipation of gifts, food and joyous visits from friends and relatives. And the spirit in which all these things and more are done is to celebrate the birth of the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, right?

The holiday season is about to kick into high gear. There will be much shopping, food and fun with friends and relatives. There will be good cheer and just a good feeling in the air. Thanksgiving is the unofficial or is it the official kickoff for the holiday season that culminates on New Year’s Day. Will you enjoy it? Will you celebrate it? If so, why, if not, why not? You often hear of the true meaning of Christmas, but what is the true meaning of Thanksgiving? Abortion is a politically charged, socially controversial subject that can at times separate friends and family.  Strong feelings and beliefs reside on both sides of this topic.  Somewhere in the middle are those that appear to not understand what all the fuss is about. Well there is a Michigan Pharmacist that obviously stands against abortion in all instances.  He refused to dispense an abortion medicine although the customer had a prescription.  Her doctor prescribed the medicine to force the birth of her deceased fetus. A Texas Justice of the Peace gave parents the option of paddling their 14 year old daughter or a $500 fine and a misdemeanor record. They chose paddling. Sometime afterwards, they brought suit against the Justice, saying the paddling caused humiliation, fear and mental anguish. During the past one-hundred years women have made social and financial gains that are unprecedented.  This is even truer of Black Women compared to Black Men.  Black Women have far surpassed Black Men as college graduates.   These days, possessing a bachelor’s degree is deemed to be the first significant step to gaining social and financial gains.  The gains don’t stop there.  Increasingly Black Women are found in prominent positions in business, government, medicine and politics.  But what is the cost?  What are the sacrifices?  Is it all worth it?  Is there a way to have it all? In today's world, with so many different Christian denominations, it is very difficult and confusing for people to choose who they should follow and how they should worship. The bible gives us the answer to these questions. The bible describes the characteristics of true and  false Pastors and Teachers, as well as what they will be doing and what they will be teaching. Black Lives Matter!  White Lives Matter!  Blue Lives Matter!  All Lives Matter!  All are slogans meant to express the feelings surrounding the loss of life due to violence, especially when law enforcement is involved. Over years and decades, unjustified killing of blacks by police has inflamed the black community across the United States.  Invariably, on the heels of these “incidents” blacks initially engage in peaceful protest seeking solutions.  Marching in hopes that solutions will appear in similar fashion to those remedies that seemed to be born of the Civil Rights marches in the Sixties.  It hasn’t worked.  Why hasn’t the marches and complaining worked?  Why are some law enforcement officials apparently scared to DEATH of black men and kill them?  Why do other law enforcement officials seem to be able to commit murder with impunity?  Why, why and why? Black folk feel angry, sad, hurt and helpless.  The protests, marches and outpouring of grief in social media attest to the desire of black folk to eliminate these atrocities from ever occurring again.  The trouble is it’s all been done before.  And… It hasn’t worked. What will work?  What will best ensure that not only black men will cease to die at the hands of police, but at the hands of other blacks?  The bible offers answers to many of the challenges in life.  Can it possibly offer an approach to take to heal this decades long festering wound on our society?
