We're back. Listen, this isn't a very structured episode, but we move. We're embracing the chaos tonight. In this episode, the boys rant about what's been going on locally, nationally, and within the prisons of our own psyches. Sundance, 401ks, tarrifs, White Lotus Season 3. We've got it all. Note from me, Kyle: sorry for doing something loud with my voice at one point. Not sure what to classify it, but "yelling" didn't seem to fully capture what happened. You tell me. We're going to the Bernie and AOC rally at the U this weekend. If you wanna link up before, after, or during, let us know via DM or whatever other method you may see fit. You can RSVP for the event here. PEACE AND LOVE, BABY
Episode Notes Jordan and Greg are joined by Elise, Jordan's wife and a public-school teacher to discuss HB 267, a law passed by the Utah legislature that removes the ability of public sector workers to collectively bargain as a part of a union or employment association, and the ongoing referendum efforts by unions, public sector workers and employment associations trying to undo that law. Come to the signing event on March 30th at Central 9th Marketplace, all information can be found on here If you're looking to get involved go to Protect Utah Worker's website here
Episode Notes Greg talks with Tyler Jordan, the lead singer of the band Good Looks, on music, their band, religion, political awakenings, and the importance of activism.
BYM, baby. This week, Greg interviews Taylor Barnes, a field reporter with Ink Stick Media who focuses on military affairs and the defense industry. In her work, she uncovered a connection about how the LDS Church, known for its humanitarian focus, has quietly invested in defense giant Northrop Grumman through its multibillion-dollar fund, Ensign Peak Advisors. Greg is here to talk to Taylor about that reporting. You can find Taylor's excellent piece here: Cracks in the Sin Screen: The Link Between Mormon Tithes and Nuclear Weapons
So this is the new year. And I know a lot of things don't feel any different. And honestly, a lot of things have gotten worse. But not with this episode. No chance. In this one, Kyle and Greg interview Joe and Tate from the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association, a union of ski patrollers that work at Park City Mountain Resort that was able to successfully pressure Vail Resorts (the corporation) into coming to the table to negotiate a new contract. We catch up with the two of them to discuss what got them into ski patrolling, the contract dispute they've been in with Vail for a year, and what it's like to go on strike during one of the biggest weeks of the year for the company and the resort. This saga with the PC Ski Patrollers and Vail has shown the benefit of unions and the power of solidarity. Things we love to see! PC Ski Patrol Union on IG Their union is part of United Mountain Workers and if you work at a ski resort and are interested in unionizing, go here: https://www.unitedmountainworkers.org
Episode Notes The Boys are back and need to catch up on a lot since, like most of you, we've let a lot of work pile up during the holiday season. In this episode we talk about South Korea, Syria, Trump's cabinet, and then finish up with a long discussion on what the current situation involving health insurance and how we got here, and what we can do going forward. Anyway, come have fun with us on December 15th at The Ruin Bar at 6:00 PM 159 S Main Street, Salt Lake City. Please bring warm clothes, non-perishable food, or donate cash for school lunch debt.
Episode Notes The boys are joined by University of Utah Economics Professor Marshall Steinbaum (@Econ_Marshall) to discuss Kyle's trip through Hooligan violence in Amsterdam, and then the results of the election, and how those ivory tower eggheads screwed us all again.
Episode Notes Holy lord, we made it. Election Day. Anyway, against our better judgement Greg and Jordan did an episode with Josh from The Worst of All Possible Worlds Podcast to look into the last few weeks of the Trump Campaign and make predictions that will either make us seem like prophets or the dumbest people on earth. Time will tell! You can find Josh on Twitter @boshj, or Bluesky at @bosh, and you can find The Worst of All Possible Worlds on their Website or any podcast source.
Howdy! It's your BYM buds checking in with a new ep. For this one, we had officially official BYM Southern Utah Correspondent, Zak Podmore, on the podcast. Before getting to the really good stuff, we chatted about all the garbage talk from the garbage rally at MSG, Trump being a sex criminal still, and more. In our main segment tonight, and the real reason we made Zak come on the show other than making him learn about things against his will, was to talk about his fantastic new book: "LIFE AFTER DEAD POOL: Lake Powell's Last Days and the Rebirth of the Colorado River" You should buy it and read it because it (red) rocks: https://www.torreyhouse.org/life-after-dead-pool I won't wax poetic about it in the description of a podcast episode, but you can hear me (Kyle) do that on the show because it is a beautiful, informative, and optimistic book about the reality facing an extremely key feature of the American southwest and how it all got to this point. The extremely relevant and delightful outro music provided by Jackson Emmer: Houseboat Pontoon
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan talk with members of the Teamsters 222 who are attempting to form a union with the Grocery chain WinCo. We discuss the challenges of organizing, the limitations of "employee owned and empowered businesses" and how to overcome crippling social anxiety to talk with your coworkers about organizing. Follow the union on Instagram at: Winco Union Utah Find Resources at the Utah Workers Center And if you're interested in working for WinCo, go here
The boys return for an episode so special that we needed to bring in some reinforcements. While Erin Vanderhoof isn't technically from Utah, she pretty much is spiritually. In this ep, we talk Utah's ballot amendment mess, Israel doing more bad stuff (gasp), Eric Adams' arrest, and more. But the main topic in this episode is what's been on the forefront of the American mind: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives -- the hit television series on Hulu. We discuss all the drama and the arc of our feelings throughout the season, which turned out to be surprisingly complicated. Follow Erin on X, the everything app: https://twitter.com/vanderhoofy And check out her excellent writing at Vanity Fair: https://www.vanityfair.com/contributor/erin-vanderhoof Can't wait for szn 2 of this show

Episode Notes Jordan and Greg are joined by author, journalist, and podcaster, Jason Kirk (@jasonkirk_fyi) to talk about his excellent new book Hell Is A World Without You. Which is about the experience of growing up Evangelical at the turn of the 21st Century, and all the unique cultural aspects that come from that exact moment of political and social upheaval. Episode Notes Kyle and Jordan are back with another episode where we talk a lot about the NHL coming to town, what that means for your outdoors shopping needs, and why the Arizona Coyotes died like... Well... a dog. Then we discuss the ongoing Trump trial, and finish with the dumbest people you know getting mad and disrupting a school over that massive and imminent threat, furries. Join our Patreon here
Episode Notes We are joined by Francis (@ArmyStrang) from the podcast A Hell of A Way to Die(@HellOfAWay), our other favorite leftist veteran podcaster, to discuss bridge collapses, Juche Trump, buying and flipping former nuclear missile silos, the rift between Mormons and Missouri, and the seedy world of men's friendship programs that require a credit card. Francis's Patreon Our Patreon
Episode Notes The boys are back to discuss the happenings of the week. We discuss Baby Gronk, Utah's senate race, Utah's book banning law, anti-DEI initiatives being passed nationwide, boobs, and the incessant and terrifying growth of sports gambling that will consume all of sports and America. Enjoy!
Episode Notes All the boys are back as we discuss the happenings in Utah. We talk about people being distraught that Palestine protestors kept some people from getting their snacks for like 20 minutes, then talked about the end of the legislative session, and then finish it up with how Ryan Smith wants to turn all of Downtown Salt Lake into a massive dystopian mall.

Episode Notes The Boys talk about all the happening. First, Ron DeSantis's unceremonious exit from the presidential race, Utah starting their legislative session and tackling such pressing issues as DEI, Trans bathroom rights, and climate. They're pretty awful.
Episode Notes Greg, Jordan, and Kyle are all live and in-person! (with some audio issues resulting from that as well, sorry ) And we are joined by our friend @boshj from @TWOAPW. We do a rundown of all of the best stories from 2023 and look forward to what promises to be an absolutely dogsh!t year. Enjoy!

We then cover the never-ending OUR/Tim Ballard saga, but this time it includes Sean Reyes making threats and writing scripts. We also get into some news around the US government's enablement of the destruction in Gaza. And finally, we end with the Washington Post's editorial board telling us all how our political beliefs are threatening the mere concept of marriage. Get in, we're going podding.
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan talk about a bunch of dumb stuff including: John Stockton going for RFK, Sean Reyes, and why he might go to jail. Also, come to our fun event if you are in town. Episode Notes The boys are joined by Rolling Stone writer Miles Klee (@youwouldntpost) to rejoin the ongoing saga of our favorite anti-human trafficking non-profit operator.
Episode Notes We are joined by our friend Angela to discuss the ongoing Salt Lake City Mayoral election. It's a doosey. Also, we don't discuss the ongoing issues in Palestine, that is something we are working towards in a way that is a bit more sensitive than in an episode where we make fun of replacement level municipal politicians.
Episode Notes Kyle and Jordan are joined by our favorite Boston Lawyer (@Shocks) to discuss our collective grief over losing liberal icon, Willard Mitt Romney. We discuss his impact on Utah and Massachusetts and how he has graced us with prosperity. We love you, Mitt! Also we discuss a bit more Tim Ballard, Bobby Menendez, and awkward date movies.
It's another week here at BYM and things are officially off the rails. We highlight some of the recent news, including Mitt giving up his seat to live the dream, UAW striking, Lauren Boebert's shenanigans in the cover of night, another "anti-trafficker" getting in trouble for extra curriculars. The main story in this episode is, of course, about Tim Ballard. We review this summer's timeline of events that culminated with him being publicly rebuked by the LDS Church and new reporting that indicates the likely reason he was let go by OUR at the height of their popularity. Big shoutout to the reporters who have been working on these stories: Lynn Packer: YouTube, website Anna Merlan and Tim Marchman: recent VICE News reporting Outro music
Episode Notes Greg sits down with local artist Josaleigh Pollett (@brosaleigh) to discuss her "Tender DIY" music, the local music scene, and the state of being online.
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan discuss congressional primaries and if Salt Lake is on the verge of turning into Austin, but only in the worst possible ways.
The boys are back with Pod Doc Colin filling in for Jordan this week. We cover quite a few topics this ep, including the horror in Hawaii, more Supreme Court bribes, and Indicted Trump v no one. We focus our two main stories tonight on the insane right-wing response to the USWNT getting knocked out of the World Cup and, of course, Utah's most famous (nearly) almost sniper. Almost had it. If you can, please donate to Maui Mutual Aid here. Thanks to Colin for helping out this week
Episode Notes We are joined by Miles Klee (@youwouldntpost) of Rolling Stone and formerly of the late, great Mel Magazine to discuss the reason why Miles' mentions and email have been toxic over the last week. Yep, we are discussing new Indie hit, Sound of Freedom. It's terrible, don't see it. Read Miles Klee's review of the film here. Or Miles' other article about Sound of Freedom and its impact on Wall Street Bets "Apes" and their AMC Theater stock here Also, subscribe to the Patreon at patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney
Episode Notes Back again for the tail end of pride. We discuss RFK Jr's gym etiquette, that kaput submarine, Samuel Alito having a sugar daddy, and how the state of Utah is scared to run social media posts about Pride Month.
He did everything right and they indicted him!!! Trump might be going to the pen, but not without some empty promises of free Cuban food first. We cover some real fun topics in this one like the endless world of digital advertising and data collection, a genius developer building a surf community in the middle of the Utah desert, roads collapsing under increasingly dramatic climate change, and more. And finally, we talk a bit about the freaks who continue to wage war on the incredibly scary concept of books. Join the patreon: patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney Love u all!
Yo! The boys are here with a fresh ep in the early days of (LGBTQ+) Pride Month. We cover a lot in this episode, including all of the fresh new hell the right is creating with the never-ending attack on gay and trans people. And it turns out that our governor is a bit of a coward. Who knew? We talk debt ceiling, Chris Steward resigning, Utah oil production, and the Supreme Court doing more anti-labor nonsense. And finally, we end with a story in the SL Tribune about BYU and other NCAA athletes being scammed via newly allowed NIL deals, including with FTX and NFTs. Amazing. The Pride parade in SLC is Sunday 6/4! And while you're there, go check out DSSL's booth and grab some BYM decals and talk socialism with good people. Join the patreon and discord at patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney Outro music: Trauma Bonds by High Vis
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan talk to Mark Agee (@markagee), who is a member of the Writer's Guild of America, to discuss the ongoing strike, working conditions for writers, and what led to this strike. Then we discuss the 60 Minutes piece on the whistleblower who revealed secrets on the LDS Church's finances, including setting up shell corporations to hide wealth. Then we read an article saying why that is actually normal religious activity. Donate to help WGA strikers at DSA Los Angeles's Snacklist which provides food and drinks to strikers on the picket lines.
The Boys are completely and totally (and officially) Back. We catch up on some of the things that have been going on lately, including yet another trademark American Mass Shooting and the very serious continued argument over "mental health" in this country. Trump found liable for sex pest stuff, COVID is over (again), Tucker's taking his talents to The Bay, and more. Our main focus in this episode is the issue of homelessness and the concept of social housing– referenced by former-and-currently-running-for SLC mayor, Rocky Anderson in a piece in the SL Trib. We continue this topic with a discussion of Robert Gehrke's article talking about evictions in Utah hitting a 7-year high. Articles covered: Rocky Anderson: More affordable housing is possible. So is keeping a neighborhood's character Utah evictions have hit a 7-year high. We need to maintain safety nets for our neighbors, Robert Gehrke writes.
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan were joined by members of the Salt Lake City Public Library's Workers United (@SLCPLWU) to discuss their union drive and what the realities are of organizing on the ground in Utah Here is the link to their campaign to demand the SLC Library Board honor the union: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-slcpl-board-of-directors-respect-slcpl-workers-united
Episode Notes Greg and Jordan are back from their various sabbaticals to discuss all sorts of issues we missed including Trump being indicted, Joe Brandon's reelection campaign, the Salt Lake City Mayoral election, a Utah Senator's house getting vandalized, and the GOP Convention. Anyway, good to be back.
Greg sits down for a quick interview with the Armed Queers of SLC — an explicitly socialist and radical Queer organization dedicated to the militant and armed defense of LGBTQ people nationwide. We chat about the privilege of advocating gun bans, the harmful LGBTQ+ rhetoric coming from the right, and the work they're doing to protect drag shows and educate folks on leftism and self defense. Follow the Armed Queers on Twitter and Instagram: @armedqueersslc
Episode Notes Jordan and Greg are joined by Alice Caldwell Kelly (@AliceAvizandum) to discuss a multitude of subjects, including Mike Lee's small suspension, the LDS Church hiding assets through shell corporations, how it is such as zero-drip religion, and then we finish it up with a reading series on why Mormons are so susceptible to financial schemes. Also, join the Patreon for a monthly bonus episode beginning at $2.
Episode Notes Happy All-Star Weekend, Utah. The entire world has decided to focus its attention on our snowy, mountainous state to watch a bunch of guys who generally wouldn't want to be caught dead here. In this episode Greg and Jordan are joined by Tom Sexton (@TomSexton) from the Trillbillies podcast to discuss the game, why Jazz Owner Ryan Smith is getting way too into it, and finally we also discuss a bit about how Utah has a senator who calls himself "based" on twitter.
Your favorite loverboys are back with a fresh ep off the pod press! In this one, we catch up on the Super Bowl, talk about the upcoming NBA All Star game here in the city, and review all of the amazing things our legislature is doing to fight this water crisis. Don't worry, they're doing a lot. I promise. They really are. Definitely. We cover the insane catastrophe in East Palestine, OH, the SEC investigating The Church, and the scheme's our local politicians have been up to when it comes to "dealing with the homeless situation." And finally, we recap those weird Jesus ads from the Super Bowl and dig into the people behind 'em. Not good. Subscribe to the patreon at patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney Stay golden.
This week, we're back and we've brought in our dear friend, Mark Agee, as reinforcements. We start things off with our thoughts on the return of The Delta Center, the Millers' continued legacy, and more. In the Hell Lines this week, Greg takes us through what's been going on, including the Utah legislature reining their terror upon vulnerable people, "George Santos" and his love for dogs, and other lovely stuff. And finally, the boys reminisce about one of our favorite trends: conservatives cancelling miscellaneous foods, appliances, and sneakers in the name of defending this great country. And, of course, cover the dangers of becoming too attracted to spherical candy. Follow Mark on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MarkAgee Sub to us on Patreon for extra episodes and discord access: patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney And keep rockin' in the free world, friends.
Episode Notes Here is a Bonus! Jordan is joined by his wife Elise to discuss education and how it is being affected by the Utah Legislative session. We focus on the voucher system from HB 215: How it cuts funds, only benefits the rich and privileged, and does nothing to support rural students, disabled students, or multi-lingual students. We then go on to discuss Todd Weiler's SB 100 on school's policies regarding gender identification, and how it makes for unsafe and uncomfortable environments in schools. We close out with a discussion on Jordan Teuscher's HB 241, an strictly anti-union bill designed to starve public unions of money and kill their ability to operate at all in the organizations they serve. All in all, a really horrific legislative session.
Episode Notes The boys took a night off to sit our asses down and listen to our friends help us finally pass the Bechdel Test for the first time in the pod's history, Madison (@madison_tayt), Suz (@TheSuzannahLee), and Ivy (@CelebrityGus) In this episode they discuss: Mormonism and Modesty Real Housewives of Salt Lake Which host they will remove in their feminist coup (Probably Jordan) Economics vs. Astrology, which is more fake The Horror in Enoch and how it relates to Utah and US culture Online Trad Culture Problems with the Salt Lake Olympics bid Spencer Cox's Expensive nepobaby advisor And men going down the Alt-Right pipeline
It's time to talk about the year that was: 2022. We lived it. We loved it. And the boys enlisted the help of Brian and Josh from The Worst of All Possible Worlds to talk through all the big moments from the year gone by. And at the end, we give out the coveted, honorary awards to the year's biggest freaks. 2023 -- onward and upward. (Sorry if the audio gets a lil weird toward the end. I had to edit in our backup audio lol) Join the patreon: patreon.com/brighamyoungmoney
Happy holidays, bozos. We had a lot to catch up on together... In this ep, we talk about an exciting local NFT export, Rocky declaring for mayor, and our upcoming Street Fight Radio appearance. Then, Greg takes us through his Hell Lines™ that include a local cookie company using child labor, OUR making a comeback, SBF's arrest, and more! And finally, we talk through the recent waves of mass layoffs taking place across the tech industry, but hitting hard specifically in Utah... just in time for the holidays.
