This week, Sonny Bunch (The Bulwark) and Alyssa Rosenberg (The Washington Post)* discussed Netflix's plan to crack down on password sharing. It's a fun story because there are lots of tiny violins to break out: not only for the people who think they should get something for nothing but also Netflix itself, for allowing/encouraging this behavior for so long. Then Alyssa and Sonny discuss Women Talking, the best picture nominee. Make sure to swing by Bulwark+ on Friday for our bonus episode ranking the streaming channels. I've got a story to tell (*in my best "Biggie Small" voice*). It's a tradeshow story about one of our first opportunities to work with a major, up-and-coming brand for their tradeshows. 20x20 booth, big idea, uniquely themed concept, plenty of budget. Sounds great right?Well, there are some lessons in this story that I think all event marketers can learn from when managing their brand's tradeshows. Tradeshows require intention, purpose, strategy, knowledge of shows and so much more. It's not always as it seems to be. In this episode of Event Marketing Redefined, you will learn from me, Matt Kleinrock [CEO @ Rockway Exhibits and Events]: - What to look for when researching tradeshows- How to approach new tradeshows- When to exhibit big and when to exhibit small- Renting vs purchasing exhibits- Why creating strategies around your customer is not what you think it isIf you want to learn how to change the way you market face-face, this episode is for you! I am delighted to introduce Christopher Mills, a psychotherapist, a family consultant, a supervisor, and a trainer. Christopher began his work alongside family lawyers, helping them to develop skills to help them collaborate across divorce teams. In 2009, he made "Deadlock to dialogue". It was a film, an unrehearsed role-play combining the skills of mediation and psychotherapy when working with separating couples. His interest in mediation around childcare disputes led him to write "The complete guide to divorced parenting", a strong advocate of the need for lawyers to receive more support in their work with family trauma. He became the UK's first professional to offer specific regular supervision for family lawyers and QCs. About six months ago, I was lucky enough to work with this community in Australia as well. And they bear a huge burden when they act on behalf of their clients in these cases. Deep listening podcast listeners have asked if I could do an episode on how to listen in conflict through the lens of relationships.

We're excited to be continuing the Worth Listening Millionaire Series! Over the next couple of months, Worth Listening host and Certified Financial Planner Lauryn Wiliams, will be interviewing millionaires on the podcast so we can hear their money memoirs and what they did to reach that coveted millionaire status. Today on the podcast is Walli Miller. Walli is the founder of Financially Thriving where she works as a money coach to help other women experience the same financial transformation in their lives that she experienced in her own life. Walli is a first-generation college graduate and daughter of an immigrant who spent her 20s spending every dollar she earned while saving very little. She thought she was doing well because she kept her bills paid and didn't have credit card debt. But she had two AHA moments that turned her finances around. Now she has a millionaire dollar portfolio and is on the way to being work-optional by the age of 40! In This Episode We Discuss: How the financial situation she grew up in caused a money mindset that led to her spending everything she made after paying the bills in her 20s The AHA moment she experienced when looking at her social security earnings statement What happened at work that helped her realize she didn't have financial freedom The sacrifices she made in college and housing throughout the years that helped her get to where she is now How lifestyle creep steals your money and ability to build wealth The importance of understanding your financial numbers The balance of reducing expenses and bringing in more income How she and her husband saved 45% of their income while living in NYC Her principle of “Cut the FATT” What Financial Independence really means Why you need to do the math instead of just aiming for $1 million How she overcomes the “wealth guilt” she experiences from outearning her family members You can learn more about Walli and her work as a financial coach on her website: financiallythriving.com or on Instagram at financially_thriving. In this episode of the Status Check with Spivey, Mike has the opportunity to have a conversation with Lauryn Williams, four-time Olympic athlete and financial advisor with a specialty in student loans. In addition to discussing Lauryn's life and experiences as an Olympian, they also talk about the differences between taking out student loans for undergrad vs. for law school, income-driven repayment plans, public service loan forgiveness (PSLF), how to save for retirement while paying off your student loans (and the perhaps surprising tax benefits of doing so), and more. As an Olympic sprinter and later bobsledder, Lauryn earned the accolade of being the only American woman to have won medals in both the summer and the winter Olympics. Today, she is a financial advisor, student loan expert, author, and podcaster specializing in improving financial literacy in young people and athletes. Lauryn's book, The Oval Office, is out now, and also be sure to check out the Student Loan Planner podcast and the podcast Lauryn hosts, Worth Listening. You can listen and subscribe to our podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, and Google Podcasts. Note: Mike references the legal field's bimodal starting salary distribution in this podcast. You can see the chart he's referencing in our blog post for this episode.
