A federal appeals court has reinstated Yellow Corp.'s $137 million lawsuit against the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, overturning a previous dismissal by a lower court. The former LTL carrier can now amend its complaint against the union, which it claims deliberately blocked the "Yellow One" restructuring plan necessary for the company's survival. The latest U.S. Bank Freight Payment Index shows a strong reversal in the freight market, with national shipment volumes falling 2.9% while shipper spending paradoxically increased 2% in the third quarter. This ongoing divergence, where shippers are paying more for moving less, suggests that carriers are continuing to exit the market, contributing to capacity constraints. Additionally, new bipartisan legislation introduced in the Senate aims to broaden human trafficking bans as they apply to truck drivers and extend permanent restrictions to workers in the rail, maritime, and air sectors. This proposed bill, the TRAFFIC Act, would broaden the scope of disqualification by removing the requirement that the felony was committed using a commercial vehicle. Our guest on this week's episode is Brodie Sutherland, CEO of Patriot Critical Minerals Corp. Just yesterday a major issue on the agenda for the meeting between President Trump and China's President Xi's was access to critical minerals, including rare earth minerals. It looks like the Chinese ban on exporting these crucial minerals will now be lifted, but that ban reminds us of how vulnerable our supply chains are to assuring that critical minerals are available for production of semiconductors, military equipment, and the electronics that run our everyday lives. Sutherland leads a company that is looking to begin mining of America's largest deposit of tungsten, located in Nevada. He shares about the importance of assuring a domestic supply of critical minerals. As technologies advance, companies are finding even greater need for digitalization of their supply chains. Nearly 40% of companies surveyed recently say they will allocate more than a quarter of their 2026 budgets to technology investments, according to information from logistics technology platform and solutions provider Ontegos Cloud.This week we've seen continued momentum in companies expanding their networks of self driving cars and trucks. Most of what we're seeing falls into the category of carriers dipping their toe in the water, and trying out pilot projects or proof of concept trials. But the technology does seem to be getting more reliable and these week we see two more examples. Kamala Harris' new book is proof positive, as she single-handedly tears down most every Democrat that wants to run for something in the next 3 years. As we predicted months ago, Tim Walz has announced that he is running for a third term as governor of Minnesota. Can he really win? He is wildly unpopular in outstate Minnesota. National trends are toward the Republicans as we watch the unraveling of our society. The streets are less safe. There are billions of dollars of fraud being uncovered under the watch of the Walz administration. We went from a huge surplus to a huge deficit. As predicted, Ranked Choice Voting is ruining our electoral system. The Democratic Socialist candidate in Minneapolis is running a mayoral slate to take second and third votes away from the current mayor. We've got a government shutdown, but for how long. The Dems refuse to negotiate unless health insurance for illegals is included. The Republicans are winning the PR battle for now... but we'll see what happens. Things are looking good for the Republicans in the midterms. We'll see if that makes any difference. Lastly, we're in a war over speech. Even some "conservatives" have begun to talk about hate speech. We can never go down that road. Speech has to remain free... likewise, if you're Jimmy Kimmel, you're not being censored. You're just being fake news.

And, you know, guys, I have, I was talking with a fan not too long ago from Chicago, I think on the, maybe the Facebook group, and he said, you need to do more Chicago stories. And I had to admit, I hadn't done that many Chicago stories. I got caught up in New York a lot, It seemed like, and anyhow, we're back to Chicago and another guy's mentioned to another guy and we were talking and, and somebody said, I don't remember who, maybe that original fan said you need to get Chuck Goudie on there. He's been doing a lot of reporting on the outfit over the years. And I didn't really know who Chuck was. So I started searching. He did a recent story about the death of the last spilotro brother, John spilotro. So I thought, man, this is, this is it. This is what I got to do. So welcome, Chuck Goudie from Chicago. Well, it's quite an introduction. Some might call it a eulogy, but thankfully that's not what he does. [1:02] Really? Now, I think I told you earlier, you know, last time I interviewed a Chicago newsman, it was John Bulldog Drummond. Bulldog Drummond, I tell you what, he was the dean of Chicago newsmen, television newsmen, when it came to reporting on the mob. There's no doubt about it.

The question of who represents the working class is probably the hottest debate in American politics. Is it Republicans? Democrats? Or socialists like Zohran Mamdani? Pundits can debate that question all they want, but the undeniable test is: Who do the unions believe stand for working people? For a century, unions were undeniably Democratic. And in 2021, Biden tried to carry on that tradition. He went as far as to say: “I intend to be the most pro-union president leading the most pro-union administration in American history.” Then in 2023, he became the first sitting president to walk a picket line, joining United Auto Workers in their strike against General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis. But as the Democratic Party went left, and then further left, many union members—who were reliable Democratic voters—broke the mold and voted for Trump—nearly half of union households, to be exact. Was it Trump's hatred of NAFTA? His promise to bring manufacturing back? His unbridled bravado? Or was it the left's preoccupation with boutique issues? The shift was palpable when Teamsters president Sean O'Brien spoke at the 2024 RNC despite being a lifelong Democrat. It felt like a new era. We've reported extensively on how the Democratic Party lost the working class. But now, six months into Trump's second term, are working-class Trump voters happy with their choice? And how has Trump been for labor in America? Sean O'Brien—the voice you heard at the RNC—is the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, representing 1.3 million union workers. It's one of the biggest unions in the country. As Sean puts it, “They represent airline pilots to zookeepers and everyone in between.” That “in between” includes truck drivers, warehouse workers, mechanics, baggage handlers, construction workers, and UPS drivers—UPS is their largest employer. Basically, Teamsters have organized workers in every occupation imaginable. And more than his role as Teamsters president, Sean himself is a fourth-generation union member, having joined the Local 25 at 18 as a heavy-equipment driver in Boston. He's spent 34 years in the union and has a unique vantage point from which he sees American labor. Today on Honestly, Bari asks Sean: Why did he speak at the RNC?
