Our FINAL recording for Coffee with the Candidates is with the Mayor himself Jeff Cheney.   Since neither of his opponents chose to come on the show, we opened up the conversation more about his experience as Mayor, and we discussed some of the topics we are dealing with in Frisco.   We learned about his favorite projects over the years and what he really wants to accomplish before he leaves his role.  We dived into the Universal Studio controversy and what to expect on the Downtown Frisco development.  Members of the Leadership Frisco Class XXIV, Dan Peril and Kevin Rackers join the show to tell us about their upcoming fundraiser and class project.  We can't "espresso" our excitement for this episode!

We continue our Coffee with the Candidates 2023 segment with the Place 5 challenger Anwer Azam.    Anwer was such a nice guest on the show and he was uber focused on talking about his vision on how he can help our community.  He has a strong accounting background that he feels will help direct Frisco for the future.  Latte it up, and relax on this in depth interview!

We welcome 2023 with exciting news...er... depending on who you're talking to... but personally, we are excited about the news of Universal Studios Theme parks coming to Frisco with a NEW CONCEPT never seen before on this scale!  We talk about what the park IS and Isn't and what the potential impact it will be for our community.   We invited community superstar Tracy Shipman who is currently serving on the Community Bond Committee to talk about what they do, and what potential projects are being presented.. including a Animal Shelter.    The Animal Shelter has become a hot topic on whether or not we need one as a community.  Your podcast duo was quite surprised at some of the statistics!   After you listen to the show, tell us what you think about an animal shelter in Frisco!

This week we invite FISD president Rene Archambault and past president John Classe on an in-depth discussion on the recent FISD hot topics.  The discussion of appropriate books in our school libraries and the use of the public bathrooms for all students including LGTBQ students has become a focal point in the past year and we dive right in on what is causing the upsurge of concern.   Come to find out… the bathroom issues go far beyond WHO is using WHICH bathrooms, but also what is happening IN the bathrooms.   We were pretty surprised of the statistics.   These topics are hot on the trail of our political far left and far right environments and really shows how our FISD board is balancing out the noise from each side to ensure they are creating the right learning environment for our children.  We also dive into the process the schools district is doing to manage these issues.  Tell us what you think!

The story of Rollertown Beerworks coming to Frisco is all over the internet, print and radio.  We landed an opportunity to sit with Ben & Skin from 97.1 THE FREAK who give our listeners the inside scoop on the beginning of this amazing company, and the back story of why they chose Frisco as their future home for an EPIC brewery.    Learn how they survived their opening days in business when the state shut down for COVID.  A truly amazing story of determination and fortitude. There is so much more to Rollertown than beer, and community involvement is the cornerstone of their vision.    When you're done listening to this podcast, you will be thirsty to see Rollertown open their doors and become a great part of our community.

The first ever Pride Frisco Festival is coming this weekend on October 8th.  We asked Jon and Justin Culpepper to come on the show and tell us all about what Pride Frisco is doing for the LGBTQ+ community within Frisco and surrounding cities.  Learn about the current and future resources that will become available including a potential home for Pride Frisco.  There's a lot of family fun planned for the festival which is designed to be inclusive to everyone in the community with entertainment, Food Trucks, inflatables and more!

Brick and Ed bring back Tracy Gamble who seems very much at home with our podcast! We're thinking of a “TRACY TIME” segment!  We square off on an OLD FASHIONED challenge to see who can make the best drink. Bigger!  Better!  So much fun!   Brick and Ed hang out at the Frisco Fair for this podcast!  We sit down with Jason Young in the midst of over 80 rides to discuss new developments downtown, FISD politics, and the new Board and Bread charcuterie boards who will have a tent near the entrance of the Frisco Fair!  You've absolutely have to stop and try their BACON JAM.   It's a GAME CHANGER!   Ms. Betty's Gumbo dropped by with a surprise gift of some of the most legit gumbo we've ever had!  Get the inside scoop on the new Beer Tasting room soon to open at the Ford Building downtown.   We got sidetracked (of course) and go down a Six Flags rabbit hole.  Guess what Six Flags and BYOB "dancers" have in common!  This episode was so much fun!  Grab a drink, kick back and enjoy the show!

Samantha is one of our favorite peeps and it was an exciting day to share some whiskey, laughs and learn more about what Frisco Women's League does.  They've got an upcomingfundraiser Mother- Daughter Tea event called "THE GOLDEN TICKET TEA" which is themed after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and is sure to be an exciting event!  We let our hair down (HAHA! see what I did there?) and really had a great interview.   Check it out and be sure to pour your favorite spirit and enjoy with us!

Brick and Ed dive into a couple of bottles of Whiskey with our new City Councilperson, Tammy Meinershagen.    Notably one of Ed's favorites, Rebecca Creek, and a new taste, Balcones Whiskey.  Did you know that our neighboring brewhouse, Rollertown Beerworks located in Celina, has a few brews that are aged in Balcones Whiskey Barrels?  YUM! Tammy and the boys get talking about what was the motivation of Tammy running when it was 4th and down, and last minute to file.   It's really an interesting story!   We were stunned to hear about her favorite 80's music....   and most importantly, we learn about her vision of Arts in Frisco.     Sit back, grab a cocktail, and enjoy another episode!   

If there was ever an episode to listen to and see the effects of whiskey and politics.. this is the one.   We dig deep on a bottle, and the effects of Sai, who... despite the inability to pull much more than 10% of the total votes, has decided to run.... yet again.   What is the cost to the tax payers and should we consider any city charter changes to reduce future opportunists who look at a council run more of a publicity stunt, than a true effort for the seat.   We also discuss Party Politics and how they have shaped the landscape of social media groups.

Today we talked with Tracie Shipman, candidate for the City Council open seat.  Tracie,  who has a long history with the city of Frisco,  reflects on the difference between local politics of the past and the dynamics of the political culture of today.   We discuss her thoughts on her reasoning for running again for council and the importance of some of the decisions that will need to be made in the next year.   We finish the interview with a fun game of Christmas Family Feud!

New Episode with special guests Paul Simon and Dustin Paschal of Simon|Paschal Employment Lawfirm.  They also happen to be the home of our recording studio.   These guys are super fun and we talk about their firm and more about law firms in general.  It was eye-opening!  What does synchronized swimming, darts and flip cup all have in common?  Only these guys can tell you! We debate Weather "Villian" movies... Ok... after checking on our podcast stats... we found that 4% of our listeners are from Europe.   We thought that was bizarre and intriguing, so we decided to dig deeper into this mystery.   We thought the occasional listener here and there was the answer... but we were wrong.. in fact, we have a listener from Clichy France who has listened to every one of our podcasts...(THANK YOU CLICHY!)  So we decided to learn about Clichy France, and we stumbled upon this crazy story about a man with 1,000 faces....  (No Game of Thrones reference here)   Check out this podcast and hear this fascinating tale!
