In this episode, Kelly is joined by Hillary Wallace! She is the principal designer at her own firm: Simon-Wallace Design. And she pulls out all of the stops decorating her New York City home for the holidays.  Kelly starts the episode off by talking about the only way two true New Yorkers could meet: Yelling at each other from a window!  Hillary talks about where she was from and how from when she was young; she alwasy wanted to move to New York. She talks about growing up in LA in the 80's, moving to colorado, designing her own furniture as a side job and how that inspired her to go back to school for design.  Kelly then asks Hillary about her house, and Hillary tells the very roundabout story of how she and her husband came to find and buy the house. Hillary tells us all about decorating her house for the holidays. She goes over her schedule, talks about where she gets all of her resourses from, and how she goes from design idea to execution every single year. Kelly and Hillary then talk about the desings themselves. What they are, some absurd stories about them, and the ways that different people have been inspired or moved by them. Hillary talks about her design philosophy, and how she goes about meeting clients, and creating a lifestyle for them or meeting them in their lifestyle. Jae asks her about some other events around the city and the three talk about some of the various events you can do while around New York during the holiday season. Finally, Kelly asks Hillary about some of her New York City Essentials, like where she goes for inspiration, where her favorite shops are and how she likes to get around.  But above all else; Hillary Wallace is a New Yorker.  Kelly Kopp's Social Media:@NewYorkCityKopp Hillary Wallace's Social Media: @SimoneWallaceDesign Jae's Social Media @Studiojae170 Hosted by Kelly Kopp Executive Produced by Huston "Jae" Watson Chapters (00:00:00) - Meet The New Yorkers(00:02:37) - Jay Leno On Being A New Yorker(00:06:31) - Fuzzy the Mayor on New York(00:06:45) - In the Elevator With Sarah Silverman(00:09:39) - How to Make a Living Fixing Up Furniture(00:10:12) - Working at Ralph Lauren's Interior Design Department(00:13:43) - Simon Wallace on Starting a Design Studio(00:14:07) - The House That Made Me Happy(00:15:15) - Living In New York City(00:17:53) - The New York City Home That I Deserve(00:21:10) - Hillary Clinton Wins The Biggest Pumpkin Auction In The United States(00:23:48) - How Long Does It Take To Decorate Your Home?(00:27:41) - Happy Halloween! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and tackle those last-minute holiday home improvements! In this hour, Eric G and Johnny D dive into the world of quick fixes that will make your home look so good, your in-laws might just forget all the projects you *didn't* get around to. We're talking everything from sprucing up your front porch to decluttering like you're preparing for a move you didn't plan on. Plus, let's not forget the essential tips on making your home smell like a cozy holiday retreat rather than a pet shop explosion. So grab a cup of coffee, kick back, and let's transform your space into a showstopper that even your judgmental relatives can't criticize! As we tumble down the rabbit hole of home improvement, Eric G and John Dudley are your guides through the chaos of holiday prep. It's November, and suddenly, everyone's looking to spruce up their homes faster than you can say ‘pumpkin spice latte.' You know that feeling when your in-laws are about to descend on your humble abode? Yeah, we're feeling that pressure too. But fear not, because Eric and Johnny are here with a treasure trove of quick fixes that won't break the bank or your sanity. From swapping out that outdated door handle to giving your front porch a facelift with new lighting, they've got tips that are as easy as pie (or should I say pumpkin pie?). The duo dives deep into the world of decluttering, showing you how to make a space breathe easier by tossing out the junk you've been hoarding for years. Because let's be real, if you haven't opened that box since the last move, it's probably safe to say you can live without it. And when the holidays roll around, a clean house is the best aesthetic to distract your family from the fact that you didn't remodel the kitchen like you promised. With humor and sarcasm, they keep the vibe light while dishing out practical advice that'll have your guests thinking you've been working on your home improvement game for months. But wait, there's more! Eric and Johnny also tackle the less glamorous side of home upkeep—like the infamous carpet cleanup saga. You've got to hear them banter about the horrors of carpet cleaning, the joys of replacing old fixtures, and how a touch of paint can do wonders for your space. The episode is filled with relatable anecdotes and laugh-out-loud moments that will make you feel like you're hanging out with old friends. So grab your paintbrush and let's get to work!Takeaways: In the chaos of holiday prep, decluttering your home can save your sanity and impress your guests, seriously, who needs that much junk? A simple front door update with a fresh coat of paint, new light fixtures, or a fancy mat can transform your home's first impression in no time. Upgrading your kitchen knobs and switch plates to something sleek and modern is like giving your home a facelift, minus the Botox. Don't underestimate the power of a good toilet—invest in a decent one to prevent holiday disasters when your uncle comes over. I'm so thrilled to introduce you to our first restaurant owners and cookbook authors ever to be on the show! Their story is so inspiring. There is no question that starting a restaurant is capital R risky, stressful, scary and overwhelming, but what if it included the arrival of a hurricane two weeks later, then a pandemic, then the ebbs and flows of any business. How can you go from two friends who had a similar and separate dream to a partnership that takes you from cooking in a studio apartment, to pop ups to being showcased on the Food Network, YES! A fully plant-based restaurant made it all the way to Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Then take this to creating products, then to writing your own cookbook. Alex Mazzucca & Cara Duerr, the chefs, co-owners, and visionaries behind Seed to Sprout, have turned their passion for plant-based cuisine into one of the most celebrated brands on the Jersey Shore. What began as weekly pop-up dinners in 2011, quickly evolved into their restaurant Seed to Sprout — a must-visit destination for food lovers nationwide. Known for their inventive, flavor-forward dishes and welcoming atmosphere, their restaurant draws in both vegans and non-vegans alike. Their success has even caught the attention of Food Network's Guy Fieri, who featured them on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, praising their food as "delicious" and calling them true "pioneers" in the plant-based culinary scene. Join us today in talking about what it was like to cook and share food for first responders and a community in need after hurricane Sandy, just two weeks after opening their doors for the first time. Alex and Cara share with great honesty about the hardships and the joys of opening your own restaurant, how sometimes you need to backtrack on an expansion to reconnect with the other things that are important to you, how you can stay true to your vision no matter what your accountant says. They talk about their incredible restaurant on the Jersey shore, Seed to Sprout, their connection to the community, their drool worthy dishes, how their customers include everything from the yoga crowd to business men to construction workers, all looking for a different food option that is both tasty and that feels so good. With Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season coming up, they were also here to talk about how to start approaching vegan Holiday cooking, they share amazing tips for amping up flavors, give us tons of basics for everything from delicious mains, to veganizing sides, wow-ing people with vegan desserts and of course, making the best stuffing and gravy that will have non-vegans reaching for seconds. I hope you love my conversation with this dynamic and friendly duo, changing the vegan scene in New Jersey, and helping so many people along the way. A little warning before we begin, if you're anything like me, susceptible to signage as Kirk from Gilmore Girls would say, you WILL get hungry.
