What if spending just five minutes reviewing your day could lead to significant growth and change? In this episode, we'll learn the short but powerful practice of the daily review. As we pay attention to our lives in the presence of God and make small adjustments along the way, we'll see steady and sustainable growth over time that will change our lives. [This episode is part of the summer replay series of my favorite episodes. New episodes return in Fall 2021!]Show Notes:This week's practice: Daily Review1. Decide when you will do the review.2. Ask God to show you what He wants you to remember about your day.God, help me to remember my day the way YOU want me to see it.3. Draw four arrows (up, down, left, right), leaving space between each one.4. Write down one thing that comes to mind for each arrow.Up: What was my high for today? When did I feel most like myself or most alive?Down: What was the low for today? When did I feel least like myself?Left: When was I moving away from God? When did God feel distant?Right: In what ways did I move towards God? When did God feel close? 5. Look over what you wrote and ask God if there's anything He wants you to see or know.6. Close with a prayer of surrender, knowing that tomorrow is a chance to begin again.Example prayer: God, I thank you for the good moments of my day, and I receive your grace and mercy for the low points. I pray that tomorrow, you will give me the strength and courage to show up in my day and with others as my full, true self in Jesus. I thank you that you were with me today, even in the moments when I didn't even FEEL you there. I pray that tomorrow, I will be aware of your constant love and presence. Thank you that tomorrow is a chance to begin again and receive fresh mercy and grace to start a new day. Amen.***This episode is part of the summer replay series of some of my favorite episodes. Have you ever gotten to the end of the day and realized you didn't give God a second thought? We know God is always with us, but it can be a struggle to remember that in the middle of a busy day. This week's episode will teach you a practice that will help you learn what it means to “pray continually,” and to find stillness and connection with God that will last beyond your quiet time. Do you ever feel like your mind never slows down? Our minds are crowded with thoughts and lists, worries and stress, and it can feel like inner stillness is impossible. In this week's episode, I'm sharing a practice called “download” that can help you get the mental clutter out of your head, and clear some space for inner stillness and peace. [This episode is part of the summer replay series of my favorite episodes. New episodes return in Fall 2021!]Show Notes:This week's practice: DownloadClear your mental clutter by writing down your scattered and messy thoughts. This will help you still and focus your mind so you can pay attention to yourself and to God.How to Practice Download:Grab a piece of paper that you don't mind throwing away when you're done, and a pen.Set your phone timer for five minutes.Write down your thoughts to get out the mental clutter.Write stream-of-consciousness, jotting down anything that pops in your head.Write a to-do list of nagging tasks taking up brain space.Focus on one issue, problem, or source of anxiety. Write out all your thoughts, questions, or stress about just that one thing.BONUS STEP: Try first doing this practice of download, and then following that with the practice of five minutes of silence (from last week's episode). See if it helps to get things out of your head and onto paper before you sit in silence makes it easier to be still without your mind racing or being distracted.***This episode is part of the summer replay series of some of my favorite episodes. Have you ever noticed how much noise there is in our lives? Because of this, silence can feel kind of radical, and a little uncomfortable. In this episode, we'll talk about why silence is the best place to start if you want to grow and connect with God. I'll walk you through how to get started with a 5-minute practice of silence, and we'll discover why this simple practice is so powerful. [This episode is part of the summer replay series of my favorite episodes. Does life feel like a performance of trying to get it all right? It can even feel like we have to perform to gain God's approval. But God isn't impressed by our success or disappointed by our failures. In this episode, we'll look at why viewing God as our "audience of one" isn't always helpful, and what it means to live WITH Him instead of FOR Him. This Week's Practice: Reflection on Surrendering vs. PerformingListen to the song "Lean" by Nichole Nordeman (you can find it here.) Ask God to show you where in your own life you might be performing, rather than simply surrendering. And whatever you do today, imagine that God is doing it WITH you, that he is right there beside you each step of the way.ANNOUNCEMENT:I will not be releasing new episodes of the podcast this summer, but there will be a few replays of my favorite episodes (marked REPLAY in the podcast feed). To find out when new episodes are available:Subscribe to the podcastFollow me on Instagram or FacebookSign up for my email list (you'll also get a free download: "Your Toolkit of Five-Minute Spiritual Practices")Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Who are the loudest voices and influences in your life? While it's great to learn from other people, sometimes we are looking to the wrong source to teach us how to live. In this episode, we'll pay attention to who we follow and why, and how to know when it's time to turn down the outside voices. This Week's Practice: Reflection GuideWhen you notice that someone you admire online has a loud voice in your life, whether that’s positive overall or negative, ask yourself:What about this person is appealing to me?Is what they are sharing real, or does it feel staged or manipulated to look better than it is?Is what they share helpful? How do I feel when I engage with their content? Do I feel encouraged and inspired? Or do I feel shame and less-than?When I’m inspired by what someone else says or does…How might that look like uniquely for me? What would it mean to live that out as ME in my unique life, rather than simply trying to copy how someone else does it?Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? When you want to change, what do you do first? But before we take action or try to fix what's wrong, there's another question we must consider first. In this week's episode, we'll explore what it looks like to start with the right question when it comes to our spiritual growth. This Week's Practice:Spend some time reflecting on this question: What does God want to form in me right now? Then, ask God to show you: What practices will create space for God to do that?Mentioned in this episode:Episode 3: Clear the Mental Clutter (practice of download)Episode 21: The Power of the One Minute PauseSpread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Do you ever feel like you keep running up against the same wall over and over again? When we feel stuck, we generally have one of two responses: We either fight and try really hard, or we give up in defeat. In this episode, we'll talk about the first essential step to breaking through the walls that keep us from moving forward. This Week's Practice: Seeing and Naming the WallConsider: Where are you feeling stuck? In what areas of your life are you struggling to change?Close your eyes and picture a physical wall. What does it look like? What does that wall represent to you?Imagine what is on the other side of that wall. What is this wall keeping you from? Who do you want to be, and what does life look like on the other side of it?Imagine yourself beside the wall and think about your posture towards it right now. Are you fighting against it, trying really hard to break through? Or are you turning away from it, pretending it’s not there or trying to run away from it? Imagine that Jesus is there with you at the wall. How does it feel to know he is there with you, and that you’re not alone? What might Jesus want to say to you about this wall, this place where you feel stuck? Consider if there’s a next step that you can take with Jesus to begin moving forward wherever you are stuck.Receive the invitation of Jesus to surrender and rest in his presence as you face the wall together.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Do you ever wonder if you are missing out on the life you are supposed to be living? We want to know God's will for our lives and the big picture plan, but maybe it's a lot simpler than we think. In this episode, we'll talk about what God's will REALLY is for your life, and why growth does not always mean change.Mentioned in this episode:“What if we found out God’s big plan for our lives is that we wouldn’t spend so much of our time trying to figure out a big plan for our lives? Perhaps He just wants us to love Him and love each other.” Bob Goff (via Instagram)Matthew 22:37-40Reflection Guide:1. Think about your life as it is right now. Name your people…your work…the everyday tasks and routines that make up your days. What does a typical day hold for you?2. As you consider your days…Do you believe that your life is enough just as it is right now? Do you believe that YOU are enough? 3. What would it look like to grow in loving God and people in your life as it is right now? 4. How do you feel when you hear this statement: Maybe, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. How does that hit you? Is that hard for you to believe? Does that bring relief or anxiety? Bring all of those feelings into God’s presence, and see what He might have to show you.5. Ask God to show you the significance and purpose in how you spend your time. Rest in His presence, trusting that what you do matters…surrender any angst or anxiety you are carrying about the future, and trust that if something DOES need to change, God will show you in HIS timing.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Have you ever reacted to something with an intensity that was WAY out of proportion to what actually happened? Even if we KNOW we are overreacting, our emotions are still real and won't just go away. In this week's episode, I'm sharing my own experience of overreacting, why it didn't work to run from my feelings, and what I did instead to move on with my day. This Week's Practice: Moving Through Uncomfortable Emotions1. What do you hope to get out of your time with God? We might know the "right" answers to this question. But when we notice and name what our heart is really expecting, we'll probably find mixed motivations. In this episode, I'll share two things I often want from my time with God, and what He lovingly offers me instead. This Week's Practice: Why do you spend time with God?Spend some time considering these questions:What do you hope to get out of your time with God?What expectations or agendas do you bring into your time with God? (My examples: answers and feeling a certain way)As you notice and name your motivations (without guilt or shame), confess those desires to God. How would you answer the question: What do you want? And why does that even matter? In this week's episode, we'll see why Jesus often asked this question in Scripture as we consider what it is that we REALLY want. This Week's Practice: Naming What You WantRead the story of the blind beggar in Mark 10:46-52.Put yourself in the place of the beggar and imagine how it would feel for Jesus to call you out of the crowd.Imagine Jesus asking you the question: What do you want me to do for you?Write down any desires that come to mind.Say a prayer of surrender, releasing those desires to Jesus. As you pray, recognize that what you REALLY want is more of Jesus...or confess that you WANT to want more of him.More Resources:For more resources to help you discover steady and sustainable growth through simple spiritual practices, visit lindsaysterchi.com/free.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? What would it look like to show up in the world as your full and true self? Not hiding who you are, but also not feeling the pressure to perform. In this week's episode, we'll do a simple practice that will help us identify who we are, and who we are NOT. We'll also talk about why that matters when it comes to spiritual growth. This Week's Practice: Identifying Who You Are, and Who You Are NotOn a piece of paper, draw a circle, leaving some space on the outside as well. The circle represents you, who you are. The OUTSIDE of the circle represents NOT you, the things that are outside of who you are (as it relates to personality and how you're wired). As you do this practice, ask God to show you how HE sees you.Inside the circle, write down some words that come to mind when you ask yourself: What is true about me? Outside the circle, write down some words that answer: What is NOT true about me?Allow this exercise to help you let go of who you think you SHOULD be, and walk in the freedom of who you actually ARE.More Resources:For more resources to help you discover steady and sustainable growth through simple spiritual practices, visit lindsaysterchi.com/free.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? What if spending just five minutes reviewing your day could lead to significant growth and change? In this episode, we’ll learn the short but powerful practice of the daily review. As we pay attention to our lives in the presence of God and make small adjustments along the way, we’ll see steady and sustainable growth over time that will change our lives.Show Notes:This week’s practice: Daily Review1. 5. Look over what you wrote and ask God if there’s anything He wants you to see or know.6. I thank you that you were with me today, even in the moments when I didn’t even FEEL you there. I pray that tomorrow, I will be aware of your constant love and presence. Thank you that tomorrow is a chance to begin again and receive fresh mercy and grace to start a new day. Is your time with God just one more thing to get “done”? In today’s episode, I’m sharing my first experience with spiritual practices, and how it helped me move from striving to surrender when it came to my walk with God. We’ll consider together how we view God, and name what we actually want from our time with Him.Show Notes:Galatians 3:3This week’s practice: Time of ReflectionHow does your experience with God or church in your growing up years impact your view of Him now? Do you see Him as distant or close to you? Loving, or condemning? Harsh, or merciful?Do you believe God would still love you, or even like you, if you didn’t get your act together?Listen to the question in Galatians 3:3 again…“After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” How would you answer the question in that verse? After initially receiving Jesus by faith and grace, are you now working and striving to prove yourself? What would it actually look like to continue by the Spirit instead of your flesh?Think about your quiet time or other spiritual practices you might do. Why do you spend time with God? Does it feel like an obligation or something to get done, or do you experience it as an invitation to be with Jesus? What do you want to experience in your times with God? Name what you want to God, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.More Resources:For more resources to help you discover steady and sustainable growth through simple spiritual practices, visit lindsaysterchi.com/free.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? This week’s episode will teach you a practice that will help you learn what it means to “pray continually,” and to find stillness and connection with God that will last beyond your quiet time.Show Notes:1 Thessalonians 5:17This week’s practice: Breath PrayerIdentify a short phrase or sentence that expresses what you need from God right now, and pray it throughout your day to remember God’s presence with youHow to Practice Breath Prayer:Spend some time reflecting in God’s presence to identify what you most need from God right now. What is one thing you want to ask of God right now? What is one thing you need to remember about God?Looking over your list of responses, pick what most resonates with you today and turn it into a phrase or sentence that will be your breath prayer to God.Examples:God, give me patience.Jesus, fix my eyes on you.Holy Spirit, give me strength.Put this prayer somewhere you’ll see it throughout the day.Examples: put on a post-it or set a reminder on your phone.Pray your breath prayer right in the middle of your busy day, especially when you feel anxious or overwhelmed (this doesn’t have to be out loud, of course!). Allow the prayer to re-focus your heart and attention on God, reminding you that He is always with youMore Resources:For more resources to help you discover steady and sustainable growth through simple spiritual practices, visit lindsaysterchi.com/free.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Do you ever feel like your mind never slows down? Our minds are crowded with thoughts and lists, worries and stress, and it can feel like inner stillness is impossible. In this week’s episode, I’m sharing a practice called “download” that can help you get the mental clutter out of your head, and clear some space for inner stillness and peace.Show Notes:This week’s practice: DownloadClear your mental clutter by writing down your scattered and messy thoughts. This will help you still and focus your mind so you can pay attention to yourself and to God.How to Practice Download:Grab a piece of paper that you don’t mind throwing away when you’re done, and a pen.Set your phone timer for five minutes.Write down your thoughts to get out the mental clutter.Write stream-of-consciousness, jotting down anything that pops in your head.Write a to-do list of nagging tasks taking up brain space.Focus on one issue, problem, or source of anxiety. Write out all your thoughts, questions, or stress about just that one thing. When the timer goes off, set the paper aside and turn it over so you can’t see it.Say a short prayer of surrender for all that’s on your mind: God, I give all of these messy thoughts to you.Allow yourself to rest in the outer and inner silence for a few moments.BONUS STEP: Try first doing this practice of download, and then following that with the practice of five minutes of silence (from last week’s episode). See if it helps to get things out of your head and onto paper before you sit in silence makes it easier to be still without your mind racing or being distracted.More Resources:For more resources to help you discover steady and sustainable growth through simple spiritual practices, visit lindsaysterchi.com/free.Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Have you ever noticed how much noise there is in our lives? Because of this, silence can feel kind of radical, and a little uncomfortable. In this episode, we’ll talk about why silence is the best place to start if you want to grow and connect with God. I’ll walk you through how to get started with a 5-minute practice of silence, and we’ll discover why this simple practice is so powerful.Show Notes:What Silence is NOT:Praying words to GodGetting warm fuzzy spiritual feelingsHearing answers from GodWhat Silence IS:Creating space for GodResting in God’s presenceAllowing your mind to slow and settleHow to Practice Silence:Pick a time in the next 24 hours to do this practice and put it on your calendar. When it’s time to begin your practice of silence, set a timer on your phone for five minutes.Close your eyes and open with a simple, one-sentence prayer: God, I’m here and I’m listening.Simply be still and rest. When the timer goes off, end your time with a short, one-sentence prayer of gratitude for the time of quiet in God’s presence.(Bonus step) Reflect on how the experience was for you. How did you feel? Did the experience of silence bring RELIEF or RESISTANCE?Spread the Word:If you enjoyed this episode, would you help us spread the word by sharing it on social media? Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (Message paraphrase)How would you respond to the questions Jesus asked: Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? As you hear the invitation of Jesus to come away with him, how do you feel? Does that sound compelling and freeing, or do you feel some resistance? Is there anything you’re carrying today that feels heavy or ill-fitting? Name it in the presence of God, and imagine how it would feel for him to remove that from you.Imagine how it might feel to “live freely and lightly” as Jesus described in these verses. Does the idea of practicing self-care as a mom ever make you just a tiny bit angry? Maybe it feels like yet one more thing that you’re failing at. How do you take care of yourself when it doesn’t even feel like you ever get a moment alone? In this week’s episode, we’ll consider a new definition of self-care. I’ll also share really practical ideas of what to do, how to do it, and what it looks like to practice self-care even when your kids are around.Show Notes:Definition of self-care: “a regular practice of doing what makes you feel like yourself.” From The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra AdachiCategories of Self-Care:*Something fun or enjoyable*Caring for your physical self*Caring for your emotional health (Episode 42: When You Want Certainty and a Plan)*Caring for your soul*Meaningful workThis week’s practice:Answer this question: What makes you feel most like yourself? Your answers to that will show you what it means for you to practice self-care. Then pick just one item from that list, and decide when this week you will do that thing. Commit to taking care of yourself, even if it’s just a little at a time, and be creative in finding ways to get refreshed and restored.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. Does your kid ever do things that annoy you? Of course they do. Sometimes we’re tempted to correct every little thing our kids do, simply because it’s odd or different. But what if asking ourselves one simple question would help us know if a behavior needs to be addressed, or simply let go? In this week’s episode, we’re talking about why bizarre behavior from our kids might be more about us than them, and how to help our kids know that we not only LOVE them, but like them.Show Notes:Quotes from Grace-Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel:“Many of our kids do things that annoy, frustrate, or embarrass us, but they are not wrong. Every time we point these things out, we tell them that they don’t measure up. This builds a foundation of insecurity in them.”“Kids inside homes where nonmoral issues are elevated to a level of BIG problems don’t get to experience the kind of acceptance that makes a heart feel securely loved. Instead they live with a barrage of nitpicking criticism…”This week’s practice:Before you correct a behavior in your kid, ask yourself: Is this a moral issue? Decide if it actually needs correction, or if it’s something that needs to be either let go or actually affirmed in them.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. As we prepare for school to start, we know that things could change at any moment, and the unknowns of it all can be overwhelming. There is a lot of fear and anxiety about what’s to come, and we just want a clear plan, answers, and a pandemic end date would be kind of nice too. In today’s episode, we’re talking about what to do with all the emotions we’re dealing with right now. If you’re longing for answers and clarity when it comes to the near future, this episode is for you.Show Notes:We ask God for a plan, but instead, God offers His presence. This week’s practice:Find a time this week to bring your honest emotions into God’s presence. God can handle our fear, anger, sadness, doubts, or whatever you are feeling right now. If it helps you to write it down or speak it out loud, do what you can to get it out and surrender all of it to God. Rest in His presence, knowing that He sees you, he’s with you, and His strength will give you everything you need.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. Do you feel like you’re waiting for life to get back to “normal” to have more time with God? Right now, most of our days have very little structure or routine, and it’s been like that for a while. But the truth is, we need God now more than ever and we can’t afford to wait until life is more predictable (because when is it ever, really?). In this episode, we’ll talk about how to use the things you’re already doing to build in the habit of connecting with God.Show Notes:“One of the best ways to build a new habit is to identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behavior on top.”from Atomic Habits: An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James ClearEpisode 6: The Power of Just Five MinutesEpisode 9: Washing Dishes and Other Spiritual ActivitiesThis week’s practice:Think about the consistent parts of your day, even if it’s nothing more than getting up in the morning, eating meals, and going to bed at night. Make a plan to connect with God after one of your consistent activities, and try it out for a few days. See if those small moments of stopping to take a breath and say a prayer help you stay connected to God in a time when everything feels uncertain. Do you ever fear losing yourself in motherhood? Or maybe you worry that if you weren’t a mom, you might not have anything else to offer. While being a mom is an incredibly important part of your life, it is not your identity. In this week’s episode, we’ll talk about the two extremes when it comes to how we see our identity as moms. And we’ll find the freedom that comes when we stop trying to prove ourselves, and instead, discover what our true identity is.Show Notes:Do you tend to fight your identity as a mom? Or do you tend to lose yourself in it?This week’s practice:Take some time to sit with the questions we talked about today. Do you tend to fight your identity as a mom? Or do you tend to lose yourself in it? Spend some time really thinking through those questions, and be honest with yourself and with God. Ask God to show you what it means to find your identity in Him alone. Ask Him how He sees you, and who HE says you are. Rest in that truth, and allow that to transform your motherhood from trying to prove yourself to instead, receiving the love of Jesus and loving your kids in the way God has loved you.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. Do you ever feel like you don’t have a choice in your own life? In this week’s episode, I’m sharing two simple sentences that are helping me show up and be present in my life as it is now. We’ll talk about how even within our limitations, we have a lot more choice than we realize.Show Notes:This is my life.I get to choose. When you’re emotionally overwhelmed, how do you pull yourself out of it? We tend to either feel defeated and do nothing, or try really hard to fix ourselves. But neither extreme tends to work. In this episode, we’ll explore that tension, and I’ll provide ideas of small steps you can take that will begin to move you towards wholeness and healing.Show Notes:Adjust your mindset and perspective. 2 Corinthians 3:4-5Episode 16: Do You Want Confidence as a Mom?Be intentional with your input. Add and eliminate.Be creative in finding ways to take a break. This week’s practice:Review the steps we talked about today, and pick just one that you need to focus on.Is it your mindset and perspective that needs to change? Then spend time praying and asking God to show you the lies you are believing, and the truth you can replace it with in your thoughts. Is it the external input that is hurting you? If so, what can you add and remove to fill your mind with better things? Or do you need to get creative in finding ways to take a break and get refreshed? When God thinks of you, what do you imagine He feels? This question might seem simple or obvious at first. But the way we answer it can show us a lot about how we see God, and how we see ourselves. In this episode, we’ll reflect on our gut response to this question, and learn the truth to replace the lies we often believe about how God sees us.Show Notes:"Imagine God thinking about you. What do you assume God feels when you come to mind?”“The fact that I am deeply loved by God is increasingly the core of my identity, what I know about myself with confidence.”Quotes are from Surrender to Love: Discovering the Heart of Christian Spirituality by David G. BennerThis week’s practice:Spend some time reflecting on the question from this episode, and answer it as honestly as you can. Imagine God thinking about you. What do you assume God feels when you come to mind?Either write out or pray your response to this question, and bring it to God. Ask Him to help you replace any lies with the truth of His unconditional love for you. What are the burdens you are carrying right now? My guess is that you are carrying quite a bit, and the weight of it can sometimes feel crushing. In this week’s episode, we’ll hear the invitation from Jesus to learn a way of living that is light and free.Show Notes:“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (Message paraphrase)This week’s practice:For this week’s practice, name the burdens you are carrying. You might even want to just write them out in a list, just to see them in front of you. Seeing it all at once might feel overwhelming, but it’s important to name the reality of the weight you are holding right now. Then, read the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30.Receive the invitation from Jesus to be gracious with yourself, to allow him to restore you, and to walk with him and learn from him. As you see the differing opinions and disagreements going on right now, are you starting to lose your faith in humanity a bit? In today’s episode, we’ll talk about a few practical things you can do to both take care of yourself AND love other people well, even when we don’t agree.Show Notes:Gather with your people. (See Episode 22: How to Find and Develop Friendships)Listen more than you speak. (James 1:19)Know when to step away from it all.Remember that our hope is not in people, but in Jesus alone. This week’s practice:This week, take an honest look at how you’re feeling about other people, and pick at least one of these ideas to help you restore your faith in humanity. Have a conversation with a friend who is safe and loves you. Approach conversations with a desire to listen; ask questions and seek to understand. Maybe you choose a day to stay off of all social media, or you unfollow a few people. And most importantly, draw near to Jesus so he can remind you that HE is our only hope.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. Do you ever look back on a day or a week or a month and wonder: What did I actually DO in that time? It can all be a bit of a blur. In this week’s episode, I’m sharing a short and simple practice that helps me pay attention to my life. If you want to be more aware of what God is doing in you and your family these days, this practice will help.Show Notes:Make a list. Here are a few questions to get you started:What are you grateful for today? What questions do you have for God?What did you do that was life-giving today? What was life-draining?What do you want for yourself and your family today? This week’s practice:Try writing something down as a practice of paying attention. Use one of these questions to get you started, or come up with your own. Pick one of the questions, and then set a reminder on your phone with that question for the next three days. See if this simple practice of paying attention helps you to be more aware of what’s going on in your soul and what God might be doing in your life these days.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/. I wish I could ask you this question face-to-face: How are you doing, REALLY? But more important than me asking you this question, is for you to ask yourself: How am I really doing? In this episode, I want to invite you to a short time of self-reflection with a few questions. I want us to pay attention to our inner world for the purpose of figuring out what we need to move forward in a way that’s healthy for us and for our families.Show Notes:How are you feeling? (SASHET: sad, angry, scared, happy, excited, tender)What’s not working right now? What are the pain points? What are some potential solutions or changes that might help? What do you need to feel like a human? This week’s practice:This week’s practice is to spend a few minutes paying attention to your inner world, to see what it might want to show you. Ask yourself, How am I feeling? What’s not working right now? And what do I need to do in order to feel like a human?Either write down a few thoughts, or talk it through with a friend. If you have some tangible takeaways, that’s great! But if not, it’s enough for now to simply notice and name what you see. That’s a great place to start, and sometimes paying attention to what is true is all we need to adjust our perspective and get a fresh start.More Resources:For more resources to help you connect with God in the chaos of motherhood, visit http://www.lindsaysterchi.com/free/.
