Paul and Evan talk about a trap that educated investors don't fall into around interest rates. Last week, we saw interest rates change, which may bring about a rise in return in fixed income assets, like bond and CD rates, and a short-term drop in stock prices. Listen along to hear these two investors explain why a diversified portfolio historically beats responding to these trends and why even 10-year returns aren't a long enough time horizon to see what is going on in stocks. Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer at Northlight Asset Management, says that investors watching headlines about the economy, the weakening dollar and more need to realize that policy shifts and global changes play out over long stretches of time, so that investors should react in small, modest ways. For Zaccarelli, that has included adding gold to the portfolio as a dollar diversifier and reducing risk while waiting to see how the economy unfolds and creates chances to be opportunistic buyers in areas like small-cap stocks and more. Rachel Perez discusses a survey done by Secure Data Recovery which looks at Americans' obsession with tracking their data — from hours sleeping to weight to all things financial — which found that 70 percent of the Americans who track their spending (and nearly two-thirds of those who track savings) say that watching and analyzing the numbers makes them anxious. Plus retired economics teacher David Mayer discusses his new book, "Economics in Plain English," and why in challenging times there seems to be trouble coming up with standard definitions for common terms like "tariff."

What Happened to You? by Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Bruce D. Perry explores the impact of childhood trauma on emotional and mental well-being. Instead of asking, “What's wrong with you?” the book shifts the focus to “What happened to you?”—emphasizing how past experiences shape behavior. Using personal stories and neuroscience, the authors highlight how early adversity affects brain development and offer insights on healing and resilience. As always, it is our prayer that you receive powerful life lessons from each and every episode that you can apply to your daily life to help you reach the other side of depression. We've gone from waiting months on end to have a game to watch and analyze to having two in one week! Really three if you want to get technical, but 2 since the last time Cody and I got together to grace your ears with our enlightening and insightful analysis. Unfortunately, the trend of losing those games has continued, leaving the vocal portion of the fanbase in the comments sections at large to be having totally rational reactions regarding the state of the team.We spent a lot of time last week discussing silver linings from a 1-0 loss at home to Miami given the defensive performance, but now that we are getting a bit larger sample size of games certain performances are standing out, both on the positive and negative side of things. Given that all 3 games have been losses, we would be remiss to ignore those negatives, even if given context we can perhaps see opportunities for them to improve.A couple of weeks ago we did silly season overreactions, and this week we will be shifting into way too soon overreactions, discussing all of our takes from the first 270 minutes of Sporting KC's season, and what things we definitely feel super confident about stamping our names on as completely correct and not the least bit half-baked takes. Finally, we'll discuss how even refs want Messi's jersey, why George Brett thinks St Louis sucks, and a fairly unexpected exit for Alenis Vargas.
PART ONE: Anthony and Raj discuss this loss and the place Anthony starts is with coaching, where he's wondering if JJ Redick is ready for everything that comes with coaching Luka Doncic and LeBron James on the same team. Steven and Ian open today's episode with a quick Sportscast about the World Series and the Yankees fan who almost ripped Mookie Betts' arm off. Bad fans is actually an overarching theme of the show — the guys start with the upcoming election, and whether we're headed for a wave of anti-PC entertainment if Trump wins. Then they do a "Scene Report" segment on recent concerts by Knocked Loose and Drive-By Truckers. In the mailbag, the guys are asked about "time and place" bands, i.e. acts that were set up to make one perfect album and nothing else.
