You ever win… and still feel restless? You hit the goal. Close the deal. Land the contract. And instead of peace, you feel pressure. In this 5-Minute Drill episode of Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™, J.R. tackles a dangerous misconception high-performing, faith-driven men quietly live with: that fear of failure is always bad…or that winning will eventually silence it. It won't. This episode is about one simple truth: Fear isn't the enemy. Fear-driven obsession is. And if you don't know the difference, you'll build a life that looks elite on the outside, but feels unstable on the inside. In this episode, you'll hear: Why fear of failure isn't the enemy, but obsession with results is. The difference between stewarding your gifts and proving your worth. How chasing outcomes can crowd out faith and hijack your identity. Why success doesn't automatically equal God's blessing or alignment. What King Saul and David reveal about approval, obedience, and intimacy with God. A simple 5-minute drill to recalibrate your performance with your faith. What you'll walk away with… You'll learn how to: Distinguish between healthy fear and identity-driven obsession Compete from stewardship instead of validation Separate results from true blessing Stabilize your identity, even when outcomes fluctuate Lead, perform, and pursue goals with alignment instead of anxiety KEY QUOTES "When you become so obsessed with the result…so obsessed with proving yourself to the world…faith doesn't even have room to operate." - J.R. "Success can mask disobedience." - J.R. "Stewardship produces peace. Proving produces pressure." - J.R. "Are you after your desired result…or after God's true blessing?" - J.R. After two-plus years of agony and hardship, what can Judaism teach about the role of faith and the presence of God in times of suffering? In this episode of TEXTing IRL, Elana Stein Hain and Dani Segal of Mabua: Israeli Beit Midrash mine the lessons of Parashat Vayeshev and Joseph's descent to Egypt. Drawing on rabbinic interpretations, modern experiences, and stories of soldiers and hostages, they explore how faith can operate as moral clarity and personal motivation during the long and often painful arc of Jewish history. Maybe you feel like you don't have what it takes to walk in the direction God has called you?Maybe you see others operating in their strengths + gifts and you think, “If only _____ weren't true”?Maybe you're feeling the tug to pursue something or take a leap of faith but the voices of your inner critic, the shame of your past, or the odds in your life don't seem to be in your favor?Your brain seems to catalog everything you LACK but you can sense the spirit nudging you as He whispers, “My love is greater still. Follow me.”.The truth?God doesn't qualify the ready; He readies the called. He wants to walk with you + partner with you right where you are. There is no place to “arrive” at before this becomes true; the arrival IS the process itself. And His abundant plan for you never includes burnout, striving, or overwhelming your capacity in your current season. He honors. He covers. And He sustains..Cass talks all about this and more in today's interview! We're going to get into a discussion about a study of studies, a meta-analysis. And, it came up with the craziest conclusion. It's about black fathers of black sons. It almost reminds me of something that my Grandpappy used to say, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise so that it might go well with you and that you might enjoy a long life on earth. Fathers do not exasperate your children. Instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." Hey, wait a minute. That's not Grandpappy. That's Ephesians 6:1-4. The study proves God exists and is right. The academics just don't get that. We'll also spend some time talking about the online dating scenario. I am so utterly blessed to not be involved in that. It's creating an inverse problem to the fatherhood problem. We'll get there by way of checking in with what the Left is saying about Figurehead Biden. We'll compare that against a video President Trump posted. Do you believe President Trump is the guy who's going to take on Big Pharma? What does God's Word say? Ephesians 6:1-4 6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.Jeremiah 17:9 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?Episode 1,710 Links:248 years ago tomorrow America declared independence from a tyrannical king, and now Donald Trump and his allies want to make him one at our expense. President Trump is taking aim at the explosion in chronic illness in America. Data: "Black fathers and father figures serve as assets or sources of family-based social capital in helping their sons to avoid violence and remain safe." But this is not what socialDating apps put young men at a massive disadvantage. Most couples meet today via dating apps so don't be surprised at declining marriage rates and be patient with your son if he's a good guy. In a dating app world, the vain narcissistic men get the most attention.Dating apps ruined dating. It's hard to choose when you have endless possible options beyond the one you're having dinner with.
