As the rates of Mental Health Illness increases, so does the rate of Suicide. Amy Bleuel is someone who has both lost Family, and been close to suicide throughout her own journey. Incredibly, Amy used her creative passion to build a movement, turned charity: Project Semi-Colon, to help and inspire many of those who previously felt loss. The incredible effect that drawing a simple punctuation mark on yourself can have is shown with the following and support Amy and the charity have created. "A semicolon is used when an author could’ve ended a sentence but chose not to. You are the author and the sentence is your life." Amy is proof that there can be another journey to take in life. Mary Wingo PhD, is an American-born scientist and author, who emigrated to Ecuador several years ago. In this episode I am joined by Ex-Australian gymnast, Fitness model, Transformation specialist, and life enthusiast Brandon Clift. Brandon is a truly positive mind, who inspires everyone he meets. Brandon's journey has chopped and changed over the years, and one thing he promotes is putting your passion first. Shortly after representing Australia as a gymnast, an injury left him unable to continue performing. Brandon later found himself in fitness modelling. During 2015 Brandon went through a series of low spells, and severe anxiety which left him close to giving up entirely on life. However, he knew deep down that he could do more with his life, and pushed on to performing in Vegas and finishing third in the entire competition. On his return to Australia, Brandon decided to create Zone Transformation Specialists, where he could help others achieve the feelings of accomplishment he felt, despite having felt low for such a long time leading up to the competition. How do you hard wire resilience into your life? Paralympic Athlete and Coach, Dan Highcock is the definition of 'resilient'. Learn from Dan's inspiring story of how to implement resilience in your life. Dan suffered a severe injury at the age of 5, which left him wheelchair-bound, told that he'd never walk again. Refusing to give up, Dan challenged himself throughout his childhood to keep pushing through, which actually lead to him being able to walk again. Despite his restrictions during his childhood, Dan discovered his love for wheelchair basketball, which he dedicated himself to. Set up for going to the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Dan was left out of the squad due to a fall out with his coach. He was dropped from the squad and ended up missing out again in Athens. Just as he was gearing up for 2008 in Beijing, Dan suffered an injury which again left him out of the squad. Refusing to give up, Dan pushed through, which lead to him finally play in the 2012 Paralympics in London, representing Great Britain. Dan is also a personal trainer and coach, who has a great knowledge of nutrition. We discuss the training that Dan uses to stay lean, year round.
