DragonCon 2022 is in the books, and come rain or shine Ed and Bob were there to report on the experience.
Continuing our delayed, but not denied, review series on My Hero Academia with season 2.
Back in 2019 we began our series of reviews on My Hero Academia, but then things happened. Now we're here to deliver ice cold takes when the world needs them most.
We spice things up with both insights from both novice and expert worm-riders in our review of Dune (2021). Come for the sandy vistas, stay for the treachery and mysticism.
We throw it back to the beginning of the last year and see just how much has changed before we knew it.
We're short a few members from our usual DragonCon cadre, but we're still coming in with a fresh installment of our usual report from the weekend's festivities.
Like the convention overall, our group's planned attendance dropped by half. Our panels had to be canceled. The vaccine approval and mandate we hoped for came to pass. Join us for a cold take on DragonCon's adaptation to the COVID Delta situation.
For our landmark 50th episode we go through a bit of a time warp, releasing the 2021 2nd quarter review before the 1st. The cause of the temporal distortion, of course, is the immense gravitational pull of the upcoming DragonCon after a year without. Tune in as we discuss what to expect as we wait for the hotly anticipated release of the convention safety protocols next week.
We took a look at the upcoming schedule of conventions, looking for patterns in which cancelled, went online only, adopted a hybrid model, or are planning on a full in-person experience. Some had published plans for social distancing and safety, but most left us wondering what to expect. The situation is still in flux, so look forward to updates on this as we monitor the status of our favorite gatherings.
Join us for a blow-by-blow recap of the long-awaited rematch for the belt of King of the Monsters in Godzilla vs. Kong.
Last year, the StatsCheck team watched My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and recorded this review. Little did we know that COVID-19 would keep us out of theaters and keep this episode on the shelf until now. We're back and ready to return to this series in earnest, just in time to coincide with the long-awaited fifth season of the anime.
We did it, we survived 2020 and are still on the air. Join us as we remember what happened and (sometimes more importantly) what didn't happen in the past year.
DragonCon 2020: You Can (Not) AttendAt least one of our number made the arduous journey to attend the online version of the convention, but your 3 regulars + 1 special guest all had tales to tell about past, present, and future as we continue to ride out 2020.
Our customary quarterly review. Spoiler alert: COVID is still out there delaying the cast, but we're still recording.
The last six months brought plenty that delayed our regular cast schedule, and that was before the global COVID-19 outbreak. Because of that, our return episode is a great look at things that we got wrong or didn't happen, including:The 2020 Olympics, which are delayed (and don't have Goku as a mascot)MomoCon 2020, which is canceled (and didn't end up accepting our panel submission anyway)Ed swearing he wouldn't play Fate/Grand Order (he's level 80 and has already rolled 5 SSR servants)The Overwatch League fizzling out (it's still running even if cats are officiating and everyone's playing at home)The studio getting upgraded (since we can't get proper furniture for it yet)
The long-delayed review of the third quarter of 2019.
It's a bit late, but DragonCon is a state of mind. Relive the 2019 experience with the StatsCheck crew and Fedex Jon.
