FAIR WARNING: we're all extensively bitchy on this show, this time, and for very good reason. Feel free to skip to the actual news items from NYCC and elsewhere if you don't want to hear us bitching and yelling about - specifically in this case - Crunchyroll and MAPPA and how they continue to make shortsighted mistakes and decisions within their companies that affect all of us on the outside, but it's recommended to listen to so that there's a clear piece of evidence for our continued and collective frustrations with the industry at large. But after that, there's plenty to get into, like how Crunchyroll... uh... snabbed and swiped Oshi no Ko away from Sentai... may as well add that to the bitching section, honestly, and also some curious anime projects being announced for 2026, the dub cast for Twisted-Wonderland, the incoming return of Dorohedoro at long last, the newest MHA x NBA partnership, and plenty more wild shenanigans afoot all in this show here. This is also the last show for Andrew for a bit as he will be on his "excursion arc" - aka, a planned vacation trip to Japan for 2 and a half weeks. Wish him and Steph safe travels for their vacation, they've earned it. intro - setting the tone early 7:24 - bitching about Crunchyroll and MAPPA 51:57 - NYCC recap (Trigun Stargaze, Crunchyroll swipes Oshi no Ko) 1:34:49 - other news (Frieren manga on hold, Dorohedoro returns, MARRIAGETOXIN announced, Twisted-Wonderland dub cast) 2:11:00 - home video releases (Perfect Blue 4K, Azumanga Daioh, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Oshi no Ko) Apple Podcasts – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/podcastona/id1348141210?mt=2 Spotify – https://open.spotify.com/show/2JZLO3LfoeHepomejTw4TP iHeartRadio – https://www.iheart.com/podcast/256-podcastona-43099114/ TuneIn – https://tunein.com/podcasts/Podcasts/PodcastONA-p1249922/ As always, check out surrealresolution.com for more content, updates on the show, our continued news posts, reviews, and our fellow podcasts.

A long time coming, I am pleased to have Ariel aka AriNicoCosplay join me on the podcast to talk with her about her favorite fandoms. We split the episode in half. The first half we cover the first anime. Ariel and I talk about our anime origins, with hers being with Toonami and staying up late to catch some of the anime series presented on the Cartoon Network. We do deeper dives into two of her current favorites, Dorohedoro and The Apothecary Diaries. From there, we step into the world of cosplay. If you've followed Ariel's Instagram for some time, you'll know that she does incredibly detailed cosplay and cosplay pieces. We talk about how she first got into cosplay, her process when it comes to costumes/costuming, the skills she's learned, and more. We highlight several of her pieces, and we talk about the work that goes into finding the fabrics and items needed. You can find Ariel at: https://www.instagram.com/arinicocosplay/ https://arinicocosplay.com/ https://www.tiktok.com/@arinicocosplay
In this episode, Xan dives into Gachiakuta by Kei Urana —a brutal, high-octane shonen manga about a "Cleaner" navigating a dystopian wasteland. How does it stack up against classics like Battle Angel Alita and Dorohedoro? Is it the next big action series? Let's break it down!

If you would like to give us feedback on how were doing follow us at: https://discord.gg/cd6sNqvnav https://beacons.ai/senornerdpodcast Dorohedoro (ドロヘドロ, lit. "Mud-sludge"[a]) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Q Hayashida. It was serialized in Shogakukan's manga magazines Monthly Ikki (November 2000 to September 2014), Hibana [ja] (March 2015 to August 2017), and Monthly Shōnen Sunday (November 2017 to September 2018); its chapters were collected in 23 tankōbon volumes. Dorohedoro tells the story of the amnesiac reptilian-headed Caiman, working together with his friend Nikaido to recover his memories and survive in a strange and violent world. In North America, the series has been licensed for English-language release by Viz Media in 2009, which began distributing the manga digitally when it launched SigIKKI, the now defunct online English version of Ikki magazine. The 23 volumes were published from 2010 to 2019. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA was broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX from January to March 2020. It was followed by a worldwide streaming release on Netflix in May 2020. A sequel streaming series has been announced. The series is set in a near post-apocalyptic future,[1] taking place across three realms: Hole, an ungoverned human favela megacity, heavily polluted from magic waste. Sorcerers' world, an ethereal, Gothic class society, controlled by crime boss En. Hell, the afterlife of all sorcerers, ruled by demons presided over by Chidaruma. Despite similar outward appearance, humans and sorcerers are two distinct species; Sorcerers were manufactured by Chidaruma in his realm, whereas humans occurred naturally in another. Sorcerers can also use magic through a circulatory system, which disperses a black smoke that gives them distinct powers. Stronger and rarer powers are highly prized, to the point of directly affecting social status; sorcerers will routinely commit to binding partnerships, resulting in violent competition for the right. Humans are forced to live in the slums of Hole, subject to unprovoked sorcerer violence and overwhelming magical pollution, whereas sorcerers live and travel freely between realms using conjured doorways. This show is so mucky you can almost smell it! But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. This week the guys tackle a show that is delightfully misanthropic and violent enough to make anyone smile. The uber violent action comedy known as DoroHeDoro. Can lizards really replace their heads? How healthy is a gyoza only diet, why does it require celery and duck fat to make a person. We try to find out all this and more as we enjoy a lovely mushroom themed brunch with Mr. En.
