In this episode we review Trump's Scoreboard, discuss his asskicking tour in the Middle East, and one of the weirdest human beings on Earth trying once again to impeach him. We also review Judge Dugan, far lefty from the Harkonnen clan getting indicted for aiding a felonious illegal alien and Dems actually assaulting Federal agents. We review a very unremarkable year, 2019. Spoiler: The music really, really sucked. Thank you for listening and subscribing and liking the hell out of us! Politics. Culture. Society. Science. Jessica Barden is an undeniable force on screen. I first saw her in The End of the F***ing World on Netflix and immediately knew she had a one-of-a-kind energy that was bound to make any project she was part of sizzle. Sure enough, she did just that for a number of independent features, including Nicole Riegel's Holler, which was named one of the Top Ten Independent Films of 2021 by the National Board of Review. Now Barden is busy stealing scenes in yet another significant way. She's doing so in one of the most popular franchises out there opposite some of the industry's greatest icons.Barden plays a young Valya Harkonnen in Dune: Prophecy. While living on Lankiveil, Valya frequently butts heads with her family who seemingly have no urgency to restore the Harkonnen name by taking revenge on the Atreides. After her brother's murder, allegedly at the hands of Vorian Atreides, Valya joins the Sisterhood where she quickly discovers she holds great power and has few limitations when it comes to using it on others to get what she wants. With Dune: Prophecy wrapping up its first season, Barden joined me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to revisit her journey to the franchise and to dig into how she found her Dune character alongside Emily Watson. Barden also offers her thoughts on a number of key scenes for Valya this season, and pinpoints what she'd love to see happen in the show's recently announced second season. Hosted on Acast. It Can’t Be Stated Enough… Fuck You James Gunn. This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl review episode 3 of Dune: Prophecy. Then the day of sadness has arrived when they have to review the FINAL of Superman & Lois (Supes & Lolo if you’re nasty). Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Dunc: Prophecy: 3:41 Supes & Lolo: 16:18 Dune: Prophecy (HBO Max) Out of 5 Harkonnen by Any Other Name is Still a Hogs Darryl: 3.81/5 Brian: 3.89/5 Summary In Episode 3 of Dune: Prophecy, titled “Sisterhood Above All,” the narrative delves into the complex past of the Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, shedding light on their motivations and the origins of their vendetta against House Atreides. Flashback to Lankiveil: The episode predominantly unfolds through a flashback to the sisters' harsh upbringing on the icy planet of Lankiveil. Valya (portrayed by Jessica Barden) is depicted as ambitious and resolute, determined to restore her family's tarnished honor. Her brother, Griffin, shares this sentiment and ventures to confront Vorian Atreides, only to return dead. This tragedy fuels Valya's desire for retribution against House Atreides. However, her family, concerned about her growing obsession, decides to send her to Wallach IX to join the Sisterhood, hoping to temper her vengeful inclinations. Tula's Deadly Mission: Meanwhile, Tula (played by Emma Canning) takes a different path. Encouraged by Valya to escape their desolate home planet, Tula infiltrates House Atreides by seducing Orry Atreides (Milo Callaghan). Despite developing genuine feelings for him, Tula remains committed to her sister's quest for vengeance. During a sacred hunt, she cunningly poisons the Atreides family members, leading to their near-total annihilation. In a poignant moment, Tula spares a young Atreides boy, allowing the bloodline to persist. This act of both love and ruthlessness highlights the internal conflict between her personal emotions and familial loyalty. Formation of the Bene Gesserit: The episode also explores Valya's early experiences with the Sisterhood. Initially skeptical about taking the Sisterhood vow, Valya's determination and unique abilities, such as her early use of the Voice, capture the attention of Mother Superior Raquella. This sets the stage for Valya's eventual rise within the Bene Gesserit, intertwining her personal vendettas with the Sisterhood's broader ambitions. Overall, “Sisterhood Above All” provides a deeper understanding of the Harkonnen sisters' motivations and the lengths they are willing to go to achieve their goals, setting the foundation for the intricate power dynamics that define the series. Superman and Lois (The CW) Out of 5 Fuck You James Gunns (Series Finale) Darryl: 4.25/5 Brian: 4.99/5 Out of 10 Back From The Dead One Too Many Times (Season 4) Darryl: 9/10 Brian: 9.25/10 Out of 10 Clark Kent Nerd Dad FTWs (Series) Darryl: 9.85/10 Brian: 9.57/10 Summary The series finale of Superman & Lois, titled “It Went By So Fast,” delivers a poignant conclusion to the saga of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. After a climactic battle where Superman defeats Lex Luthor and Doomsday, the episode transitions into a heartfelt montage spanning over 32 years. This sequence showcases significant milestones: the marriage of John Henry Irons and Lana Lang, the growth of Jordan and Jonathan as they start families, and ultimately, the peaceful passing of Clark and Lois. In their final moments, Lois succumbs to a resurgence of cancer, followed by Clark, who, having become fully human in his old age, is deeply affected by her loss. The series concludes with their reunion in an afterlife, underscoring themes of enduring love and hope. A particularly notable scene involves a posthumous encounter between Clark and Lex Luthor. In this moment, Clark forgives a remorseful Lex, who is seen crying—a departure from typical portrayals of their relationship. This act of forgiveness highlights Superman's embodiment of hope and compassion, even towards his greatest adversary. The finale also features a subtle nod to the series Grimm, with David Giuntoli, the real-life husband of Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), making a cameo appearance. Overall, the episode provides a comprehensive and emotional closure to the series, emphasizing the importance of family, love, and forgiveness. This Week on Multiverse News! Between last weekend's New York Comic Con and the regular news cycle, this week has treated us to some tasty, and maybe not so tasty, Marvel morsels. The most substantial news impacting the MCU was the official March 4, 2025 release date for Daredevil: Born Again on Disney Plus and, per an exclusive with Collider, the Russos confirmed Avengers: Doomsday will begin filming next spring. Elsewhere, while speaking on the Rich Roll Podcast, Tom Holland chimed in with his excitement after having read the script for his upcoming, fourth Spider-Man film, saying that there were still things for the writers to figure out and work on, but that it is a real movie, worthy of the fans' respect. Finally, today Disney removed Blade, which was slated for November 7, 2025, from its release calendar. Taking a hard left turn, let's talk some DC, where James Gunn debuted the official trailer for Creature Commandos. During the Comic Con panel, cast and crew, including Gunn, executive producer Dean Lorey and Alan Tudyk to name a few, highlighted the animated series' mature, violent tone and Eastern European aesthetic, even comparing it to the TV show Lost; and cited how voices were cast with live action appearances and integration specifically considered. While celebrating the series' unique identity in the context of the DCU, Gunn of course couldn't miss the opportunity to provide minor updates for Peacemaker Season 2, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lanterns and Superman, promising, “It won't be too long before we see a trailer, but it also won't be too soon.” HBO's Dune: Prophecy treated fans with a new trailer and an official release date coming out of NYCC: the series will premiere Sunday, Nov. 17. The official logline for the series reads, “From the expansive universe of ‘Dune,' created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy' follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.” The season is made up of six episodes and will release on Sundays on HBO and Max. Netflix has released the official trailer for the Russo Brothers' upcoming sci fi action movie “The Electric State,” starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. The film begins streaming on March 14th, 2025. Shrinking has been renewed for season 3 at AppleTV+. Josh Brolin and Lee Pace are currently in final negotiations to star opposite Glen Powell in The Running Man, Paramount's adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Both actors will portray villains in the film. Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly casting new leads in their 20s for Mr. and Mrs. Smith Season 2, with singer Billie Eilish among rumored contenders for the one-year roles of John and Jane. At New York Comic Con, AMC released the first trailer for Season 2 of Walking Dead: Dead City and announced that it will begin streaming sometime in the spring of 2025. Blumhouse showcased exclusive MEGAN 2.0 footage, with the killer doll teasing she's received an "upgrade" in a special NYCC message. With production complete, the sequel is set to release on June 27, 2025. Blumhouse also unveiled a new trailer for Leigh Whannel's The Wolfman starring Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott. Also during the Blumhouse NYCC panel, Director Mike Flanagan spoke about his new version of The Exorcist, which he considers "the scariest movie ever made." Beyond Flanagan expressing his excitement to tackle the iconic property, no additional details about the project were revealed at the NYCC panel. Following the success of the original film, director Scott Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill are returning for The Black Phone 2, bringing back Ethan Hawke and the original cast for what Derrickson describes as a "high school coming-of-age film" based on an idea from author Joe Hill.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite fictional Universes. Milly Alcock will show us her superhero landing when Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow premieres on June 26, 2026. Other than Sasha Calle's portrayal in The Flash, this means we'll see Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El on the big screen for the first time since 1984. The film will be released just a year after we see James Gunn's vision for the man of steel himself. In a move that seems telling of the new direction of MCU, the Marvel Television banner has been reintroduced and will be used for live action series such as Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha All Along, and Ironheart. The banner was previously used for MCU-adjacent shows Agents of SHIELD, Cloak & Dagger, and others. Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming, and animation for Marvel Studios, said the idea is to let audiences know they can “jump in anywhere” in the MCU and still understand what's going on. Winderbaum also alluded to a Marvel Studios rebrand that encompasses Marvel Television, Marvel Animation, and Marvel Spotlight. HBO's streaming service Max released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Dune television spinoff show, Dune: Prophecy. The show is described as taking place 10,000 years before the events that lead to Paul Atreides' rise to emperor and will follow two Harkonnen sisters as they work to establish the Bene Gesserit. Inspired by the book Sisterhood of Dune, the show has mostly been kept under wraps until now. Movie goers probably should have bought a ticket for themselves and their imaginary friends last weekend as John Krasinski's new film IF didn't quite reach expectations with a $35 million opening in the U.S. Although this means it took first place at the box office, the movie cost $110 million to make and a global box office of $55 million is still a stumble. There may be hope yet for the kid-centered flick with a lot of schools across the country ready to enter summer break. Hot off the heels of an incredibly well received first season of X-Men '97, Marvel Studios seems to have found the voice of their live-action X-Men in screenwriter Michael Lesslie. Lesslie's writing credits include Assassin's Creed, The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, as well as the upcoming Now You See Me 3. While both parties are still in talks, if the addition pans out, it will be the most significant step to actualizing the X-Men in the MCU since Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019. Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne has joined the cast of Fantastic Four in an undisclosed role. Lionsgate is developing a John Wick spinoff movie around Donnie Yen's assassin character, Caine. Yen will reprise his John Wick: Chapter 4 role in the untitled project set to shoot in Hong Kong in 2025. The franchise expanding film, with no director yet announced, will follow the events of John Wick 4 as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table. 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore is officially getting a sequel at Netflix with Adam Sandler returning to reprise his role. Amazon's Marvel drama Silk: Spider Society — from Sony Pictures Television — is no longer moving forward at the streamer but Sony does plan to shop the series to another studio or streaming service. Sony Pictures announced last week that I Know What You Did Last Summer, a reboot of the film with the same name as the original 1997 horror slasher, is set for theatrical release domestically on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are currently in early talks to return. Last week, Disney announced that Hulu is teaming with the estate of author James Clavell to extend the FX series Shōgun for two additional seasons. A writer's room is currently being assembled. Shōgun is currently the most viewed show in FX's history.

You must not fear, fear is the mind killer. So we're back with a mega sci-fi blockbuster episode. We stepped off our sandworms and pocketed our lightsabers to discuss two world-building epic first films in big franchise series both based to a certain degree on Frank Herbert's hit novel. We're facing "Dune" (2021) off against the iconic "Star Wars" (1977). Which protagonist yells more? Which main planet has more sand? Spice visions or The Force? Who's more manipulative: the Bene Gesserit or the Jedi? Who kills henchmen better: the Harkonnen's or Darth Vader? All these questions and more are asked and answered as we break these movies down to declare a winner in our hearts. *Using the Voice* Listen, subscribe, leave a rating and/or review, and let us know what you think about these movies!Follow Us:instagram.com/facingoffpodcast facingoffpodcast@gmail.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Join the crew as we tackle the incredibly epic sci-fi sequel, Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two! Did this movie meet our expectations, and was it better than Part One? We discuss all of our initial thoughts and theater experiences before diving into the movie. We get into all the amazingly detailed world of the Fremen, discuss Paul's relationship with Chani and his "hero" journey as he rises to become the Lisan al-Gaib, and ponder whether we should be rooting for Paul or not right now. Outside of The Fremen, we get into new aspects of the story such as The Emperor, and our visit to the Harkonnen homeworld, Giedi Prime. We discuss the creative decisions made for this planet, as well as the thrilling performance of Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Finally, we discuss that INSANE third act and where we think the story could go from here. Also, we hype ourselves up to read the book and plan a future episode comparing Denis' work to Frank Herberts original vision!Scored by Hans Zimmer and starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Stellan Skarsgard, and more…this movie has all the workings of a historic epic, and we had a blast talking about it.ENJOY!02:15 - Initial Reactions of Dune: Part Two06:45 - Quick Summary09:45 - The Emperor and Princess Irulin14:20 - The Fremen and Sietch Tabr25:35 - Chani and Paul's Journey to become Fremen + Riding the Worm40:35 - The Harkonnens and Geidi Prime47:25 - Gurneys Return and the Trip South54:35 - Paul Becomes the Messiah1:01:00 - The Final Battle and the Holy War1:26:40 - Final Thoughts and 1-10 Rating + Gripes w/ the MovieFollow us on social media:Twitter/Instagram/TikTok: @whysosidiouspodYouTube: www.youtube.com/@whysosidiouspod?app=desktopEmail us questions/requests: whysosidious@yahoo.comSubscribe, Rate, and Review!
