Two guys watch a movie and then have a conversation... sometimes they even manage to talk about the movie itself!
Randy May and Jeremiah Edmonds
In the beginning, there was just one Mickey. Disney owned him. He was a mouse. This movie isn't about a mouse turning into a man, and it's not about 17 mice overtaking a planet of ice. It's actually about Donald Trump. I wish that last paragraph was a joke. It isn't. Wanna chat with other people who like movies? Join our TIAM? discord
If you are like me, you perhaps thought this movie was a sequel to a movie based on a board game possibly starring Rihanna. Well, it's not. Turns out, the movie is about tornadoes. Tornados. Tornadoes? Tornados? Autocorrect, help me! It's not marking either one as incorrect! Wasn't technology supposed to solve everything... including tornados? Tornadoes? Oh just forget it. How long do you think you'd last in a world where you had to be quiet to live? Since I have to have a white noise machine and I snore, as soon as I fell asleep, I'd be a goner. Oh well. I'd just try to make sure my group made it to safety before I fell asleep If you didn't know, there is a video version of this podcast! Check it out on YouTube! We forgot to ask Randy's dad if he liked Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny as much as we did. But Baby Boomers, Gen X-ers, Millenials, and Gen Z peeps can at least all agree that de-aged Harrison Ford looked weird. Wanna chat with other people who like movies? Join our TIAM? discord

With M. Night's latest entry, can he once again show Randy the meaning of 'intensity"?
Walt Whitman, an excerpt from "Song of Myself" from Leaves of Grass: "The last scud of day holds back for me, It flings my likeness after the rest and true as any on the shadow'd wilds, It coaxes me to the vapor and the dusk. I depart as air, I shake my white locks at the runaway sun, I effuse my flesh in eddies, and drift it in lacy jags. I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love, If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles. You will hardly know who I am or what I mean, But I shall be good health to you nevertheless, And filter and fibre your blood. Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."
Could it be possible that one person's heaven is another person's hell? John Milton's version of the devil seemed to at least attempt to convince himself so. But then again, neither Milton nor his devil were Irish, were they?
For this episode, we watched and reviewed the movie Pinocchio. Not the Disney one. Not the other Disney one either. Not the other other Disney one either. Not the one with Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The stop-motion one. No, not the 1980 Christmas special stop-motion one. The other one. The new one that Guillermo del Toro made. Yeah, the Mexican horror movie writer/director. Yes, that Pinocchio! Geez...
Two contrasting reviews overheard outside the theater immediately after watching Avatar 2: 1. "It was amazing! Very hard to tell what was real and what wasn't!" 2. "The 3D gave me a headache." ____________________________________________________ Some people like watching movies because they are entertaining. Some people like watching movies because of how movies can make them feel. Some people watch Avatar because Avatar is very pretty to look at... That's right! It's the Avatar episode. (It's not in 3D, so you won't get a headache.)
You know how lots of people go to the movies and get popcorn and candy and stuff. Could you imagine getting that and watching this movie? Gross...
Welcome to This is About Movies (?) podcast! Although this movie was out weeks ago, the kitchen seems to have lost your ticket at some point. Please join the rest of your party, take your seat, and enjoy the experience! If you are still hungry afterwards, we will be meeting for cheeseburgers.

Randy and Jeremiah discuss the film All Quiet on the Western Front and its devastating implications. This is not an episode for the faint of heart. If you're a new listener...maybe don't start with this one. Or do. We're not the boss of you.
In this episode, Randy and Jeremiah talk about what it means to be a "Dune person" and how the world needs a spin-off movie with Michael Shannon and Mike Myers reprising their roles as bird-watching spies.
It's Justin Long's new movie! Hosts Randy May and Jeremiah Edmonds are joined by first time guest Billy Brewer to discuss the first horror film he has ever seen! It's a wild time as we deep dive into writer/director Zach Cregger's instant classic. Check in to your Airbnb, prop open the basement door, and have a glass of wine with a stranger. This one's a doozy.
Don't worry, darling. This movie is gonna be great. What's it about? It's about everything, baby. It's about a golden age when women were women and men were men. But you know men. They only want one thing and it's disgusting. But don't worry, sweetheart, there's more going on here than meets the eye. We're on your side. You're a strong independent woman who don't need no man. Let me make you a drink. What's with the airplane? Don't worry, sugar. It's nothing. It just happened to be flying by that day of filming so I hit record and when I showed Olivia later that day she said it looked cool. So we put in the movie. That's how these things art. Did you say art? I suppose it is. Yeah, it really is something isn't it?
Randy May, Jeremiah Edmonds, and special Matthew Wilcox each watched a different movie and didn't tell each other. In this episode, each of them describes the movie they saw and the other two attempt to guess what they watched!
Or how we learned not to play scary games at night with veterinarians during hurricanes.
From the Bullet Train (Shinkansen) wikipedia entry: The Shinkansen, colloquially known in English as the bullet train, is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan. Initially, it was built to connect distant Japanese regions with Tokyo, the capital, to aid economic growth and development. Beyond long-distance travel, some sections around the largest metropolitan areas are used as a commuter rail network. It is operated by five Japan Railways Group companies. Over the Shinkansen's 50-plus-year history, carrying over 10 billion passengers, there has been not a single passenger fatality or injury on board due to derailments or collisions.
Special guest Errolyn Gray joins Randy and Jeremiah for a fun conversation about Jordan Peele's latest, Nope. Grab your cameras, watch the skies, and don't look this movie in the eye.
Randy and Jeremiah are joined by friends Hannah and Grayson Craig for this very fun conversation about the king of Rock n' Roll and Baz Luhrmann's take on his life.
Now there are two of them. This is getting out of hand.
Randy and Jeremiah went to see the special re-release of Star Wars Episode IV and boy was it different than we remembered. Even though George Lucas changed a lot of stuff it was still almost as good as the original. Miles Teller is the perfect choice for Luke Skywalker but what surprised us most was the risky casting of Tom Cruise as Obi-Wan Kenobi. It really paid off though. The crazy old wizard must have gotten over his fear of flying in that Disney+ show we didn't watch because boy does he really go for it! The biggest downside of this remake is that it's all hope and no empire. You really feel Vader's absence. Regardless, it's a good time! We hope you enjoy the episode and may the Goose be with you!
"movies have the power to change the world" - demi adejuyigbe on Letterboxd
"It starred Nick Cage; it didn't require Nick Cage." - Jeremiah Edmonds.
It's okay, America. You're going to be alright. In this episode, Matthew Wilcox is back as our resident Marvel apologist! Jeremiah offends all decent human beings with his complete lack of respect for Sam Raimi, Matthew patiently explains Mount Wundagore, and Randy has nothing bad to say about this Marvel movie. We have lots of questions, but one thing is certain: at the end of the day, Papa Pizza always gets paid.
Remember when you were younger and you returned home after a long time away only to discover that your family had moved someplace else and were happier without you? In a way, this podcast is returning home-- returning to its regular flow post Cheesecake Festival, but more importantly, returning to a time with episode titles of a sensible length. But I digress. We're here to talk about The Northman! It's bloody! Or is it?It's in old english! Or is it? Alexander SkarsgÄrd has long hair! Or does he? Randy and Jeremiah are back with answers and some fancy words like sesquipedalian so you can be sure they definitely know what they're talking about.
Finish it. We can and we will. In the final episode of the Cheesecake Festival, Randy and Jeremiah contemplate the events of the past while looking to the future. "Death is the road to awe." With the end of the festival here at last, who knows what wonders await. I'm sorry. You're here for a podcast about cheesecake, monkeybrains, and man's desperate search for eternal life. Haters back off. We're talking about The Fountain!

Randy and Jeremiah arrive at Cheesecake Factory! In part 3 of the Cheesecake Festival, Caleb Westbrook of Dune episode fame returns to talk about his cheesecake movie, Room. And just like actual cheesecake...it's heavy.
