What if faith isn't just about believing God exists—but trusting that He's for you? In this powerful message from Pastor Terrell Eggers of Mosaic Church in Nacogdoches, Texas, we explore a transformative view of faith as confidence in God's good intentions. Drawing from the story of Moses and the Israelites, Pastor Terrell walks us through the highs and lows of deliverance, connecting Old Testament struggles to our modern trials. Are we responding with anxiety—or with trust? Are we praying like orphans—or like children who know their Father is good? Whether you're in the middle of a storm or seeking deeper spiritual connection, this episode invites you to step into faith that's alive, relational, and full of hope.
In this powerful Sermon Terrell Eggers explores the deeper meaning behind Palm Sunday—not just as a historical event, but as a transformative call to follow Jesus through humility, suffering, and true surrender. Drawing from the biblical narrative and the backdrop of Jewish resistance in 2 Maccabees, Eggers redefines what it means to be alive in Christ—thriving in freedom and abundance sourced in God, not just surviving. Discover the misunderstood mission of Jesus Learn the historical context behind Palm Sunday Embrace the path of the cross Reflect on how suffering leads to spiritual abundance Be challenged to fully commit to a life that mirrors Jesus This sermon invites you to move beyond superficial faith and step into a life of deep worship, sacrificial love, and bold allegiance to Christ. Such a pleasure to talk to Paul Cuff on Robert Egger's version of NOSFERATU. He knos so much that the discussion of the film unfurls into a discussion of the various other versions, Murnau's original (1922), Herzog's version (1979), David Lee Fisher's version (2023), and onto the films of Guy Maddin, Pablo Berger's BLANCA NIEVES (2012), various versions of THE STUDENT OF PRAGUE and even THE ARTIST (Michel Hazanavicius, 2011), which Paul loathes. We were entertained by, enjoyed -- with reservations -- the rich visual world of Egger's version, the thick and dense sound, and we praise Nicholas Hoult as the emotional anchor of the film. But Paul articulates his uncertainty about whether the film was a parody of itself or the genre or Nosferatu in its various incarnations. The film seems to be drawing on Murnau, Herzog, Caspar Friedrich's paintings. But it seems to create a world in which God ostensibly exists but no one seems to believe in the ideology that would sustain this. Paul notes with interest on how Eggers credits the screenplay of the original Nosferatu but not Murnau, the director. Paul highlights how Nosferatu was itself a rip-off of Bram Stoker's work and the significance of the titles of the most prominent version (Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror (Murnau) and the German title of Herzog's version, Nosferatu, Phantom of the Night.) What all versions have in common is that they're all about sex and death, all about sex and the maiden; all versions have Nosferatu as a sexual figure as well as a figure of death and pestilence, How does Egger's version sit on the shoulder of previous versions and what does it add to them? We discuss our love of the performances of Max Schrek and Klaus Kinski and much more in the podcast below:

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu (2024) is a masterclass in how to remake a classic while breathing new life—and death—into it. With stunning gothic visuals, eerie atmosphere, and haunting performances, Eggers reimagines F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film for a modern audience without sacrificing its unsettling soul. Every frame drips with dread, paying homage to the original while using contemporary filmmaking to deepen the psychological terror. Bill Skarsgård's portrayal of Count Orlok is both monstrous and mesmerizing, a performance that anchors the film in pure nightmare fuel. The movie doesn't just retell the story—it resurrects it with chilling reverence and creative vision.Robert Eggers has already proven himself with The Witch and The Lighthouse, but Nosferatu cements his place as the future of horror cinema. His commitment to atmosphere, historical detail, and character-driven dread is redefining what horror can be—less about jump scares and more about psychological immersion. Eggers' films don't just scare you; they haunt you. In an era of formulaic horror, his work stands out as deeply cinematic and disturbingly poetic. Nosferatu is not just a great remake—it's a declaration that horror is still an art form, and Eggers is its new maestro.Stick around until the end for a round of Movie 20 Questions.Safe travels, nomaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads.

Who is the Government? Dave Eggers and Sarah Vowell attempt to answer that question in essays about the scientists who discover new planets at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California and the archivists who safeguard the nation's historical record. They're both featured in the new anthology, “Who is Government: The Untold Story of Public Service.” We talk to Vowell and Eggers about the civil servants who make up what their editor Michael Lewis calls “the vast, complex system Americans pay for, rebel against, rely upon, dismiss and celebrate.” And we'll get an update on the legal challenges to the Trump administration's efforts to slash the federal workforce. Devin & James are back in the Den, and it's full of bats! In this episode, we are covering a very specific type of vampire... OFF-BRAND DRACULAS! These vampires may have castles in Transylvania, look hot in a cape, or have an unnatural interest in foreign real estate, but they all owe their cinematic existence to the literary existence of Bram Stoker's Dracula. We start with NOSFERATU, covering Murnau's 1922 silent classic, through Herzog in 1979, and to Eggers in 2024. We then move on to a couple of Bela Lugosi films, where he plays a bloodsucker who is "definitely NOT Dracula" (legally speaking) with 1935's MARK OF THE VAMPIRE and 1943's THE RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE. We then head to AIP in the groovy 70's, when they redefined the old legend with 1970's COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE, featuring the underrated Robert Quarry as the titular count with a mouthful of fangs, as well as 1972's BLACULA, featuring a dignified performance by William Marshall that deserves much more credit than it's punny title suggests.

Traci's career started in 1992 when she was doing fashion commercials, work for TV stations and video B movies. However, Traci's big break came when she was working on The Witch and The Lighthouse, both directed by Robert Eggers. Traci's collaboration with Eggers on these productions landed her the position on Nosferatu, Traci's third feature with this director. Traci was not always aware that her passion for makeup would turn into a career. She attended school in a small program and a lot of her experience has come from self-teaching and repetition. Today, Traci's work is multifaceted, from beauty makeup to eerie and grimy special effects makeup as seen in Nosferatu. Traci has been recognized for her work in the past receiving a few Canadian Screen Award nominations and winning the CSA for Best Makeup in 2022 for her work on the film Night Raiders. However, her most prestigious nomination to date has come from her work on Nosferatu, as Traci and her team have been nominated for the Oscar for best makeup and hairstyling. This huge achievement is only one of the exciting things coming up for Traci as she is set to begin working on the set of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Nesta edição do podcast cinematório café, nós analisamos o filme "Nosferatu" (2024), de Robert Eggers, diretor de "A Bruxa", "O Farol" e "O Homem do Norte". A nova versão do clássico do horror de 1922 traz no grande elenco Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe e Bill Skarsgård. Given their shared source material, Robert Eggers' NOSFERATU and Francis Ford Coppola's BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA understandably have a lot overlap in terms of plot and character, but the two films are miles apart in their interpretation of that source material, particularly as applied to its titular vampire. We're of split opinions on Eggers' bleak, monster-forward characterization of Orlock, especially how it plays against NOSFERATU's ideas about female desire and sexuality, but agree it provides a fascinating counterpoint to Coppola's florid spin on the Count as a tragic romantic antihero. We examine that contrast further in Connections alongside other character parallels — the Renfields, the Van Helsings, the maidens fair — as well as how the two films' diverging styles each reinforce their filmmaker's take on the title character. And in place of Your Next Picture Show, we offer some impromptu reflections on the life and work of David Lynch, who died the day this episode was recorded. **For this History This Week special feature, Sally interviews director Robert Eggers about his new historically inspired film, Nosferatu.** Winter, 1476. Vlad III is a prince in Wallachia, in present-day Romania. He is a violent man, so violent that he earns the nickname "Vlad the Impaler." He also has another name that he inherited from his father: Dracula. Dracula is constantly fighting for his crown, but today, that fight will come to an end. His headless body will be discovered in a marsh, stuck down by his enemies. But his legend will live on. Dracula pops up in stories throughout Europe over the next few centuries, until author Bram Stoker decides to combine this legend with the latest fictional craze, vampires. His book, Dracula, becomes the king of the genre. It inspires numerous adaptations, including a silent film called Nosferatu. It's considered one of the most important horror movies in history. Over 100 years later, director Robert Eggers has reimagined the original Nosferatu and adapted it for a modern audience. In a conversation with Eggers, we asked, how did he make a blood-sucking monster feel like a historical figure? And where do vampires fit into our lives today? Special thanks to Robert Eggers, director of Nosferatu. We also used a great book to help research this episode, Dracula: Prince of Many Faces, by Radu Florescu and Raymond McNally.
