Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a short mini-series on casual games, beginning with PopCap's Plants vs Zombies. We spend a lot of time setting these lower-challenge games both in their time and against other genres before talking a bit about the game itself. Lots of action shows begin with some no-nonsense badass fully in charge of their faculties, but “Man On Fire” starts with a man who just plain isn't. Before anything even happens in the story, Creasy is a suicidal, messy shell of his former peak CIA agent self. But, as with other iterations, that lack of stability is the hook. This isn't "Reacher," and a muscular heroic soldier boy doesn't blow into town to set things right. Episode 741 - Andre Ward is a First Class Father and World Class Boxer. He retired from boxing in 2017 with an undefeated record of 32-0. Ward held world championship titles in both the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2021. Prior to turning pro in 2004, he won the Gold Medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens representing the United States of America in the Light Heavyweight division. On today's episode, I talk to writer and director Juel Taylor. Originally from Tuskegee, Alabama, Juel at first wanted to design video games, but in college he shifted his focus to filmmaking. He did different jobs in sound while he was waiting to break through, and in 2018, he co-wrote Creed II. Directing gigs on Boomerang and Twenties followed, as well as co-writing Space Jam: A New Legacy in 2021. This all culminated in Juel's first project as co-writer and director They Cloned Tyrone, which was released last year on Netflix and was one of the best films of 2023! Andre Ward is a former professional boxer who won titles as a Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight. In 2004, Ward won the Light Heavyweight Gold Medal for Team USA at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. As a professional, Ward went 32-0 including 16 knockouts before retiring in September 2017. A documentary on his life released in June 2023 on Showtime and in November 2023, he released his first book, "KILLING THE IMAGE: A Champions Journey of Faith, Fighting and Forgiveness."
