What's up to my perspicacious pelicans and jaunty jerboas! Welcome back to the BNP and thank you for joining! I'm back in the saddle after life forced me to take a couple weeks off, and back with a wild and woolly episode that features a little something for everyone. The ep starts off proper with a zany audio tidbit, then moves to a segment examining the proven physics of the water powered car, electrolysis and splitting the water molecule, and the hydrogen fuel cell that makes it possible. The fact is, we do have the technology to achieve this, but powerful forces who are dedicated to preserving the status quo and perpetuating the supremacy of oil and gas continue to sabotage the effort. I tell the story of Aaron Salter Jr., the security guard at Tops Market in Buffalo, NY, who was shot and killed defending the store during the mass shooting event on May 14, 2022. Salter was a gifted engineer who had successfully designed a functional water-powered vehicle. He is not the first genius engineer who has died suddenly and under bizarre circumstances after inventing a water powered engine. We dive into the history of the hydrogen fuel cell, the inventor Stanley Meyer (and his untimely death), and I feature an interview with Salter himself discussing his revolutionary breakthrough. Article Link: The Conspiracy Against Water Powered CarsWe then move to a conversation featuring Justin Ohldguy,  author of Killing Your Lion, an important book which dives into a timely topic: how to be an old school man in the muddled, confused and baffling modern world. We dive into the nuances of his book, why he chose to write it, and we examine the in's and outs of this critical topic in general, utilizing snippets of the manuscript to frame the discussion. Enjoy the conversation! Support Justin Ohldguy and Buy Killing Your Lion here.I finish off the episode with a brief solo segment where I share about what's been going on in my life personally, my apartment getting broken into and trashed, dealing with so much loss and death in the family, cumulative grief and the process of grieving, and just continuing to move forward and thrive despite it all.  Onward and upward, the only constant is change and we have no choice but to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Conversations with Tee-Ta & Tiffany: A Black Girl and A White Girl talking

It's a heavy blow again to start Season 3 after the Buffalo murders. On our first show back for 2022, Tiffany asks Tee-Ta to share her feelings as a black woman living through yet another racist attack. Tee-Ta Walker candidly shares her cycle of emotions and thoughts about a country that felt far too silent after 10 innocent black people were murdered and 3 injured in a supermarket by gunfire from a premeditated hate crime by Payton Gendron. Tiffany Scott shares why it's important for white people to listen to black people's experiences, to have conversations about it, and remember that Black Lives Matter is not a trend that fades away with time. We always need to be allies, not just when it suits us. Say their names: Roberta A. Drury of Buffalo, N.Y. – age 32 Margus D. Today we offer a meditation on Grieving a Tragedy. Here in the United States, we have recently experienced the pain and trauma of gun violence in an elementary school in Texas, a grocery store in New York, and a church in California.   We can become desensitized and unable to process so much tragic news. Often words alone seem inadequate. We need silence in the presence of a Holy God.   So today we make space to grieve and mourn for those who are mourning. We make space to get in touch with our own feelings and emotions. And we make space to consider how God is calling us to action and to show compassion to those hurting.   We'll be meditating on a prayer from Psalm 57, TPT. We invite you to prepare a quiet place for this time of meditation. Perhaps light a candle. Don't rush or hurry this time. Linger as long as you need to process your feelings.    Have mercy on me, O God…for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings. In Buffalo: Celestine Chaney, Roberta A. Drury, Andre Mackniel, Katherine Massey, Margus D. Morrison, Heyward Patterson, Aaron Salter, Geraldine Talley, Ruth Whitfield, Pearl Young. All gunned down by young men who should have had no access to an assault weapon in the first place. I have no meaningful response to such cruel slaughter. When I am in the most profound mourning, I turn to the composers whose music directly confronts that despair. Today that composer is Gustav Mahler. Since the victims were almost exclusively people of color, today for solace I turn to the extraordinary voices of women of color singing the music of Mahler. Roberta Alexander, Marian Anderson, Carol Brice, Oralia Dominguez, Jessye Norman, Florence Quivar, Shirley Verrett, Lucretia West provide balm for the depths of despair that we are all feeling right now. They are joined on the podium by some of the greatest conductors of the twentieth century: Leonard Bernstein, Christoph von Dohnányi, Bernard Haitink, Paul Kletzki, Hans Knappertsbusch, Erich Leinsdorf, Zubin Mehta, Pierre Monteux, Fritz Reiner, and Frieder Weissmann. This episode is also offered in memory of and in gratitude for the life of the great Lucretia West, who died on 21 February 2022 at the age of 99. The racially-motivated domestic terrorist attack, which led to the murders of ten Black Americans in Buffalo, NY, has caused so much pain and grief.    In the famous words of Fannie Lou Hamer, 1964, 'I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.'   So how do we work through this tragedy and get on with our daily lives without fear? How do we heal individually and collectively while the ugly face of racism gets uglier?    In this episode, SharRon Jamison and I have a raw and honest conversation about this awful moment in history. Being in a rare position of wearing multiple hats; an Associate Minister, a corporate executive, a life- strategist, and a DEI expert, SharRon courageously shares her truth. She speaks about the ripple effect of the murders on the black community, what it does to our psyche, and the workplace challenges we often face while grieving from ongoing racist attacks. And the processes she uses to work through it, heal and be supportive while keeping her sanity intact. It's a conversation that moved us deeply.    Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the following ten people who lost their lives.     Aaron Salter, 55 Pearly Young, 77 Deacon Heyward Patterson, 67 Ruth Whitfield, 86 Katherine Massey, 72 Celestine Chaney, 65 Roberta A. Ken Kemp (the Beached White Male) joins Ken Fong (Asian American - the Ken Fong Podcast) in the wake of yet another horrific hate crime in Buffalo, New York. The shooter, Payton Gendron, left a long manifesto that centered on "replacement theory," a basic tenet of white supremacy. For the shooter, it justified his crime. This tragic event begs the question: what are the stories we tell ourselves? Our stories often enable us to dismiss the truths that we prefer to ignore or worse, deny. Tucker Carlson, the Fox News host of the most popular cable "news" program on cable television, regularly promotes the theory. The two Kens unpack the history and meaning of the theory, sourced in the literature of white supremacy. They discuss a recent lengthy, in-depth article published in The Atlantic, "How Politics Poisoned the Evangelical Church." Pastors across America are caught between the warring factions of the culture wars. Some, like Greg Lock of the Global Vision Church in Tennessee, have sold out to the conspiracy theories and racial animus of the far right. The two Kens agree: replacement theory must be called out and rejected. Diversity is good. It enriches our lives and contributes to our flourishing. Become a Patron: www.patreon.com/beachedwhitemaleSupport the show

Ten people were gunned down at a Buffalo supermarket Saturday in a horrifying mass shooting that officials were quick to label as "pure evil" and racially motivated. The shooting stunned a community basking in a warm May afternoon, with shoppers filling the Tops in a predominantly Black neighborhood at 1275 Jefferson Ave. Of the 13 people shot, 11 were Black and two were white, Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said. Most of the victims' identities weren't released as of late Saturday night. However, sources told The News that one of the dead was Aaron Salter, a recently retired Buffalo police officer working as a security guard at the store, while another is Ruth Whitfield, the mother of former Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield.
