Avui sonen Allison Rusell, Lenny Kravitz, Sananda Maitreya, St. Vincent, Prince, Jeff Gardner, Frank Zappa i Alicia Walter. Jordi Via, Terrassa, juny 2024

For today's episode, I am joined by singer-songwriter Alicia Walter to discuss carving out a niche for herself in the Chicago and New York music scenes and traveling to a plethora of U.S. states to play with a variety of bands on her latest album 'Right Noise' (out June 23). We also discuss our mutual love of American Football and transcending genre labels. ✨ MORE ABOUT ALICIA WALTER ✨ Alicia Walter is a New York-based artist known for her “near-cosmic voice” (WIRED) and “stratosphere of songwriting all her own” (Consequence of Sound), inviting the listener into the most dynamic iteration of her world as she knows it. Inspired by a life on the move, Walter sets off on a personal odyssey of self-actualization and liberation on her first album I Am Alicia, which she wrote while relocating from Chicago to New York City in 2016, where the only constant was the time spent with herself. With her latest album 'Right Noise,' Walter goes on an experimental streak, recording in several locations with a variety of different bands in different cities, culminating in an explosive and rich tapestry of art rock and chamber pop. ✨ KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALICIA WALTER ✨ Web: iamaliciawalter.com/ Instagram: instagram.com/iamaliciawalter/ Facebook: facebook.com/iamaliciawalter Twitter: twitter.com/iamaliciawalter Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/aliciawalter Apple: music.apple.com/us/artist/alicia-walter Tidal: tidal.com/browse/artist/11159462 YouTube: youtube.com/aliciawalter ✨ CONNECT WITH IZZY ✨ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv6SBgiYCpYbx9BOYNefkIg Website: https://agrrrlstwosoundcents.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/agrrrlstwosoundcents/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/grrrlsoundcents

#17: Stuck in Cambodia and quarantined in Australia - these are the stories of two nomads who were abroad when Coronavirus became a global health pandemic. I checked back in with Alicia Walter from The Passport Couple (Episode 8) and Michelle from Frugality and Freedom (Episode 6), who were both previously interviewed on the podcast. Alicia and her boyfriend Nate, full time travel bloggers who had left to Southeast Asia just 2 months earlier, decided to stay in Cambodia when the Coronavirus started to spread. Michelle, a semi-retired nomad working a temporary contract in events management, made the decision to leave New Zealand and head back to her home base in Australia to wait out the virus.  We chat about:  What factored into their decisions to return home or shelter-in-place The financial impacts of the COVID crisis on travelers  How they’re staying safe and healthy while abroad What 14-day post-travel quarantine looks like If you are curious about how Coronavirus is affecting full-time travelers and nomads,  take a listen to this episode. If you enjoy it, please subscribe and share with a friend. The second sneak preview from the ESOPUS 25 "JOKES" CD -- included in ESOPUS 25, which is just hitting bookstores -- is a fantastic art-pop track by Alicia Walter, who chose this humorous poem by philosopher Alan Watts as its inspiration: There once was a man who said, “Though it seems that I know that I know, What I’d like to see, Is the I that knows me, When I know that I know that I know.” Walter describes her process on our website: “How could I pick just one joke, when everything tickles me? The 'cosmic joke' seemed to fit me best: life itself is funny -- it’s hilarious! Sometimes we think we 'get' what’s going on, but of course we don’t. We’re always looking, looking, looking for answers everywhere outside ourselves. And we may feel we come closest to figuring it all out when we just stop trying to figure it all out. But of course, we still haven’t figured out a thing! What could be funnier than that?” Get more info about the CD and issue at https://www.esopus.org/contents/view/411
