The Titans finally got back in the win column by beating the Patriots 20-17 in OT, and showed some resiliency in the process. What is certain is that one of them will be in position to lead the offense if Ryan Tannehill is injured this season, as he was in 2022. ... There are other position battles that are developing too. One is at right tackle, where the recent addition of veteran Chris Hubbard increased the number of candidates by one. ... Inside linebackers Monty Rice and Jack Gibbens have different strengths but it seems one of them will be a starter alongside Azeez Al-Shaair. ... The Titans don't want to pay big money for a kicker which is why they have two youngsters, Caleb Shudak and Trey Wolff, in camp. If history is any indication, performance in preseason games will go a long way toward determining who gets the job. ... Despite efforts to build depth through the draft, the Titans have a decided lack of experience and certainty behind starting safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker. The Tennessee Titans have found their identity. It's not pretty, but it's effective. They have won five straight games despite an offense that continues to score fewer and fewer points each week. That offense relies increasingly on running back Derrick Henry, who seems to get better as the season progresses. The defense, likewise, continues to get more ferocious and has allowed opponents increasingly fewer points. ... The 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans might not have been a work of art, but it was a thing of beauty in that it was a showcase for what the Titans do best on both sides of the ball. ... Rookie quarterback Malik Willis did not get much of a chance to show what he could do in his first start. He did what coaches asked him to do, which primarily was hand the ball to Henry. The limited opportunities he had in the pass game showed how much work he still has to do. ... Up next is a prime-time matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs that should serve as a litmus test for just how good this team is. After all, Tennessee's current win streak has been built exclusively against teams with winning records. ... Of particular concern with Kansas City is tight end Travis Kelce. And the challenge of containing him will be even greater if safety Amani Hooker, who left the Houston game with an injury, is unable to play this week. ... The week began with much uncertainty about the status of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. But the Titans have put themselves in a position in which they can be patient and not rush him back into the lineup if he is not healthy enough to play, even for a game such as this week's.

This week, the Tennessee Titans have their first divisional matchup of the season, and it is against the Indianapolis Colts. Both of these teams struggled in the first two games of the season and then turned things around in Week 3 to get their first win of the season. We already know that the Titans will be without Amani Hooker and Zach Cunningham for this game. This could spell trouble for the Titans run defense as they have already struggled this year to stop the run and now have to go up against Jonathan Taylor. There is not doubt, no matter what the final score is, that these two teams are going to make this a hard fought divisional game. The Colts are going to try to erase getting swept by the Titans last year from their memories. While the Titans will be looking to take an early lead on the Colts in the division and knock them down to 0-2-1 in the AFC South. While it is early in the season, this game could have big implications on how the rest of the year goes. Can the Titans offense actually put together a full game of good offense? Can we see the Titans pass rush take advantage of an average Colts offensive line and put some pressure on old Matt Ryan?
