Send us a textIn this episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," Drew and Rob dive deep into the New York Giants' latest news, breaking down all the critical updates ahead of their upcoming NFC East clash with the Washington Commanders. With QB Daniel Jones confirmed as the starter despite recent calls for him to be benched, the spotlight is on his performance and the implications of his injury clause for the Giants.Deonte Banks is also back in the starting lineup after being benched in Monday night's game against the Steelers. The Giants are hoping that this young corner can lock down Washington's dynamic receiving corps, especially Terry McLaurin. During their last meeting, McLaurin was held to just 22 yards, far below his average of nearly 80 yards per game. The Giants have also shuffled their roster with key personnel changes, releasing safety Gervarrius Owens and fullback Jakob Johnson to make room for linemen Garret Greenfield and Marcellus Johnson. Greenfield, a towering 6'6” lineman from South Dakota State, and Marcellus Johnson, who previously spent time on the Vikings' practice squad, bring added depth to an offensive line that has struggled this season. Chris Hubbard will take over at left tackle as coach Brian Daboll announced, looking to stabilize a line that has been plagued by injuries and inconsistency. On the injury front, WR Tyrone Tracy remains in concussion protocol, which could impact the Giants' passing game options. The Giants have also been strategic about trade rumors, with WR Darius Slayton and EDGE Azeez Ojulari reportedly unlikely to be moved. Both players remain crucial to the team's plans, and Slayton, in particular, could be a key target against Washington's defense. When the Giants take the field against Washington, their defensive focus will be to contain Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who is recovering from a rib injury and may not be at full strength. Daniels was exceptionally accurate in their last matchup with a completion rate over 79%, far above his season average of 71.8%. If the Giants can apply pressure and disrupt his rhythm, it could be a turning point. The Giants' pass rush has improved since their last meeting, with Azeez Ojulari now at six sacks for the season and Brian Burns at five, after neither recorded a sack in their initial meeting with the Commanders. Stopping the run will be equally critical. Last time, Washington RB Brian Robinson Jr. gashed the Giants with 133 yards on just 17 carries, posing a considerable challenge for a Giants defense that also allowed Steelers RB Najee Harris over 100 yards last week. With Robinson dealing with a hamstring injury but expected to play, the Giants must shore up their run defense if they hope to avoid another big ground game by the Commanders.Since their last matchup, the Commanders' offense has found its rhythm, averaging 32.5 points per game. The Giants, however, are struggling offensively, putting up just 15.5 points per game in the same span. As the Giants seek to get their offense on track, rookie WR Malik Nabers and WR Darius Slayton will be critical targets. In their last game against Washington, Nabers led with 127 yarSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a textIn this live episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," Drew and Rob break down all the latest news, updates, and rumors surrounding the NY Giants as the team faces continued struggles in the 2024 season. From the offensive line situation to owner John Mara's rare public comments, the hosts cover everything New York Giants fans need to know today. The episode kicks off with an in-depth discussion on the New York Giants' ongoing issues at left tackle. With injuries derailing the offensive line, both Joshua Ezeudu and Chris Hubbard received practice reps at left tackle this week. Drew and Rob analyze head coach Brian Daboll's comments about giving Ezeudu the first shot to solidify the starting spot, while also keeping an eye on Hubbard's potential contributions. Daboll was notably vague about the team's plans, leaving the door open for further changes. The hosts also discuss the recent visit by free-agent left tackle DJ Humphries, who seemed like a possible addition to shore up the line. Daboll acknowledged Humphries' skill but made it clear that nothing was imminent, leading the guys to wonder whether the Giants will actually pull the trigger on adding help or continue to shuffle their existing players.John Mara, the longtime owner of the New York Giants, made headlines by preaching patience to frustrated fans during a screening of the NFL Films documentary “The Duke,” which highlights the legacy of his father, Wellington Mara. Drew and Rob break down Mara's remarks, where he reaffirmed his commitment to head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, despite the team's struggles this season. The hosts discuss what this means for the future of the team and whether fans can really afford to be patient after a decade of inconsistent results. The conversation shifts to quarterback Daniel Jones, who has been a frequent subject of criticism as the Giants' offensive struggles continue. Mara declined to give a detailed assessment of Jones' performance, leaving Drew and Rob to dissect the quarterback's challenges this season. The hosts note that the offensive line's poor performance has hampered Jones' ability to play effectively, but they also question whether he has the tools to lead the Giants in the long run.Next, the hosts dive into some exciting Hall of Fame news, discussing former Giants stars Eli Manning and Tiki Barber, both of whom have made it through to the next round of Hall of Fame voting. The show takes a sharp turn as the hosts react to some stinging criticism from Bill Belichick, who took a swipe at the Giants during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Belichick expressed surprise at the team's decision to let Saquon Barkley leave for the Philadelphia Eagles, suggesting that the move came from the front office rather than head coach Brian Daboll or owner John Mara. Drew and Rob pull no punches in responding to Belichick's harsh critique, acknowledging that while the Giants' offensive line has been a weak point, Belichick's comments were particularly blunt. Finally, Drew and Rob give listeners a comprehensive preview of Week 8 in the NFL.#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a textIn this live segment of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, hosts Drew and Rob break down all the drama unfolding with the New York Giants following yet another tough loss. The episode starts by diving into the emotional response from former Giants star Saquon Barkley, who opened up after hearing boos at MetLife Stadium and witnessing fans burn his jersey in the parking lot. While admitting it's hard not to take it personally, Barkley also defended his former teammate Daniel Jones, who continues to face harsh criticism from fans. The discussion shifts to the defensive side of the ball, where rookie cornerback Deonte Banks found himself under scrutiny for his effort in the Giants' loss to the Eagles. On a crucial play, Banks appeared to slow down while quarterback Jalen Hurts scrambled, and the lack of intensity drew attention from both fans and the media. Banks owned up to the mistake, citing frustration and letting his emotions get the best of him during the game. As the Giants continue to struggle on offense, frustration is building among their playmakers. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers voiced his dissatisfaction after the game, pointing out that he was open several times but simply wasn't getting the ball. He emphasized the need for the offense to do a better job protecting the quarterback and sustaining drives to give the defense more rest. Nabers' four catches for 41 yards all came in the first half, a stat that highlights the offense's second-half collapse. Meanwhile, the injury bug has taken another toll on the team, with rookie wide receiver Looking ahead, the pressure is mounting on Daniel Jones, who will start next week despite his lackluster performance against the Eagles, where he completed just 14 of 21 passes for 99 yards. Head coach Brian Daboll acknowledged the offense's inability to produce big plays, with the longest gain of the game being just 14 yards. Jones was eventually replaced by backup quarterback Drew Lock late in the game in an attempt to spark the offense, but Lock was unable to turn things around. In terms of roster moves, the Giants made a few adjustments this week, signing defensive tackle Armon Watts to the active roster after he was elevated from the practice squad. The team also brought in veteran offensive tackle Chris Hubbard, though he was inactive for the Eagles game. Hubbard brings experience to a banged-up offensive line, having started nine games for the Titans last season. The offensive line continues to be an area of concern, and there may be a potential shake-up at left tackle after a shaky performance from Joshua Ezeudu. As the Giants sit at a crossroads in their season, Drew and Rob also recap all the action from around the NFL in Week 7. From the Lions' narrow win over the Vikings to the Patriots' continued struggles, the hosts take a deep dive into how the rest of the league is shaping up as we approach the midway point of the season.  Whether you're a die-hard fan or just looking to stay up-to-date with the latest NFC East and NFL news, this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs* has everything you need to know about the current state of the New York Giants.Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. After two starts in place of injured Ryan Tannehill, rookie Will Levis was named the Tennessee Titans' starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. In a victory over Atlanta and a loss to Pittsburgh, the second-round draft pick from Kentucky has shown a strong arm and a willingness to stand in the pocket to get the ball deep down the field. It is a skill set that meshes well with the current offensive plan, and one that the team now (apparently) plans to use for years to come. ... Tannehill, who is in the final year of his contract, is now effectively done as Tennessee's quarterback. His tenure currently consists of exactly the same number of games played (63) and starts (61) for the Titans as the man he replaced, Marcus Mariota. Statistically speaking, the difference between the two was not as pronounced as most would expect. The biggest difference was in their records. ... Levis will have to work behind an offensive line that has not consistently protected either quarterback this season. And with tackles Nicholas Petit-Frere and Chris Hubbard and right guard Daniel Brunskill dealing with injuries, it could be a backup-heavy unit that plays Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of those backups is Dillon Radunz, a second-round pick in 2021 who could fill in almost anywhere but never has played in a way that suggests coaches have confidence in him. ... The game against the Buccaneers is on the road, and the Titans have yet to win a game outside of Nissan Stadium this season. Is there any reason to expect this week will be different?

The Tennessee Titans are 0-2 on the road and 2-0 at home following last Sunday's 27-3 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Their latest performance was a complete reversal of the one that preceded it, right down to the fact that they reversed the score (they lost 27-3 at Cleveland in Week 3). So, what do we know about the Titans after four games? ... Nicholas Petit-Frere was one of multiple NFL players whose gambling-related suspension was reduced to four games last week from the original six. As a result, last season's starter at right tackle is back on the practice field and is eligible to play this Sunday at Indianapolis. It is possible, though, that if he is back in the lineup, it will be at a different spot given how well Chris Hubbard, who wasn't signed until after the start of training camp, has played in his place. ... Another player who might be back in action this week is second-year wide receiver Kyle Philips, who spent the first four weeks on injured reserve. Philips' addition to the attack was highly anticipated a year ago, but injuries have kept him out of action for the majority of his NFL career to date. ... Indianapolis' rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson presents a unique challenge for Tennessee's defense this week. Richardson's ability to run and questions about his proficiency as a passer will dictate a specific, less aggressive approach from Jeffery Simmons, Denico Autry and the rest of the defensive front. But in this case, less from the pass rush ultimately could mean more.

At this point in training camp, all coaches and fans have to go on when it comes to player evaluation is performance in practices. By all accounts, rookie quarterback Will Levis performed well on Monday. The next day, he got reps with the second-team offense for the first time. Maybe it was a coincidence (Denard Walker) thinks so, perhaps it was not (that's John Glennon's belief). What is certain is that one of them will be in position to lead the offense if Ryan Tannehill is injured this season, as he was in 2022. ... There are other position battles that are developing too. One is at right tackle, where the recent addition of veteran Chris Hubbard increased the number of candidates by one. ... Inside linebackers Monty Rice and Jack Gibbens have different strengths but it seems one of them will be a starter alongside Azeez Al-Shaair. ... The Titans don't want to pay big money for a kicker which is why they have two youngsters, Caleb Shudak and Trey Wolff, in camp. If history is any indication, performance in preseason games will go a long way toward determining who gets the job. ... Despite efforts to build depth through the draft, the Titans have a decided lack of experience and certainty behind starting safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker. If someone does not emerge as a reliable performer (or performers) in the coming days and weeks, the front office likely will have to look for a free agent or another team's castoff.
