"Fire in the Sky" is a book and a movie that recounts the alleged abduction of Travis Walton, an American logger, in 1975. The incident took place in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona. Walton and his co-workers claimed to have witnessed a UFO while driving home from work. Curiosity led Walton to approach the object, resulting in a bright beam of light striking him and causing his companions to flee in fear. Walton's disappearance generated a large-scale search effort, and his absence sparked media attention and speculation. After five days, Walton reappeared, recounting a vivid story of being taken aboard a UFO and subjected to various examinations. His claims sparked controversy, skepticism, and scientific investigation.                According to Walton and a number of other members from the logging crew, on November 5, 1975, he was working with a timber stand improvement crew in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Snowflake, Arizona. While riding in a truck with six of his coworkers, they allegedly encountered a saucer-shaped object hovering over the ground approximately 110 feet (34 m) away, making a high-pitched buzz. Walton says that after he left the truck and approached the object, a beam of light suddenly appeared from the craft and knocked him unconscious. The other six men were frightened and supposedly drove away. Travis was one of a seven man crew that was clearing trees on a government contract. After the end of the work day, all of the crew jumped into foreman Mike Roger's pick-up truck and began their trip home. As they drove, they were shocked to see a "luminous object, shaped like a flattened disc" by the side of the road, Travis left the truck to get a better look, and was hit by a blue beam throwing him to the earth. The six other men feared for their lives and roared away in the truck for a distance, but then, realizing they had left Travis behind and he might need help, they turned the truck around and headed back to find him. On the evening on November 5th, 1975 Mike Rogers was making the return trip with his logging crew from their work site within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Rogers stopped the truck when they spotted a luminous object moving through the treetops that did not appear to be of Earthly origins. As the floating object moved toward the truck, one of the crew decided to try and get a closer look. Travis Walton left the vehicle and as he approached the craft he was struck by a blue light that hurled him to the ground with seemingly lethal force. Afraid for his life and the lives of those of the crew still in the truck, Rogers slammed the vehicle into drive and fled from site, thinking he had just been witness to his friend’s death. After an exhaustive search by police and volunteers of the area where they had encountered the UFO, no trace of Walton was found. 5 days later Walton’s Brother-in-law received a phone call, Travis had resurfaced in a town 30 miles from where he had last been seen and believed only a few hours had passed.
