Hey y'all, it's Maria. Who asked for a rant about Riverdale? I am returning for our Lost Episodes (1x10-1x13 and 2x01-2x09) and potentially 4x19, 5x01-5x03 and whatever in the time jump brings me enough joy that I want to podcast it. Also, I rant about Josie and the Pussycats being mistreated by the writers (who else watched Return of the Pussycats? 5x15 will def be on the list of episodes we're gonna podcast!) In the meantime, if you miss Bughead as much as I do, I'm still writing Bughead fic on AO3: stonerbughead. And if political moments on TV teen dramas are your jam (you listen to my podcast already so maybe they are?), listen to my new podcast Leftist Teen Drama! See y'all soon with 1x10 xoxo Maria

Find us at: CLICK HERE TO FIND US ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER. CW: Parental loss, loss of loved ones, military, mental illness, trauma, failing school, breakups, teen drinking. Well, we made it through high school with these nightmare children, and it's finally time to graduate. And of course, there's drama aplenty before we get to the real season premiere. Mostly, we're actually pleasantly surprised, if incredibly cautious. Archie's making a clean break to join the Army, Veronica finally gets a clean break from Hiram, and Cheryl Freaking Blossom gets a reset that we weren't totally prepared for. It's Bughead that's left limping to the finish line, spending the first half of the episode waxing poetic about innocence and Jellybean instead of, I don't know, doing something? There's some pretty hasty character wrap-ups thrown in right here at the end, for sure. Still, we're mostly fine with it and ready to see what happens in the time-jump ahead. Find us at: CLICK HERE TO FIND US ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER. Murder, serial killers, reliving trauma, PTSD, violence, blood, mental illness, suicide, toxic relationships. Lest we forget this show is Riverdale, they delivered a real dud this week. We could've slow played Charles, let Jellybean give us some better context on why she made videos, and give us a lot more intrigue to bring Betty and Jughead back from a time jump. Instead, Bughead got some of the worst, most boring dialogue this show's ever produced, which, I mean, who's shocked. Veronica finally sticks it to Daddy, but about a season-and-a-half too late, and Choni are both bonkers and also irredeemable at this point. That leaves Archie, who is a little overwrought, but KJ Apa found a new acting gear and was incredibly compelling this episode - it's pretty awesome. Here's hoping we get more of that soon; for now, we're talking “Chapter 7: The Preppy Murders” this week on The Doghouse. If there's anything I can tell you about what would have been the season 4 finale of Riverdale without spoiling the episode: It's to prepare for a lot of heartbreak! The show delivered one of the most normal (by our standards) and emotional episodes yet as our lovable seniors graduate, but not without more drama and broken hearts! Find us at: CLICK HERE TO FIND US ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER. Murder, serial killers, child abuse, emotional abuse, physical assault, teen drinking, drug use, infidelity, boxing, homophobia, “snuff films”. It's finally prom night in Riverdale and you know what that means - murder. Well, OK, maybe not murder, but definitely creepy videotapes from our newest villain, “The Auteur”. But honestly, this season premiere in name only is actually tender and heartbreaking and kind of healthy? Cheryl's still the worst, but Toni's family drama was a refreshing twist on the typical “forbidden love trope.” It's the breakup of Varchie, though, that really felt mature and wonderful in this episode, as KJ and Camila really get to shine while reconciling some very real feelings. All while Bughead is dealing with a seedy snuff film festival slash rave. It can only happen on Riverdale, and we're back to discuss “Chapter 77: Climax” this week on The Doghouse.
