They're called viper geckos, they're roughly the size of your thumb, and they are not venomous in the slightest. Josh talks with Lori from the reptile department about one of the more underrated species we breed here! Lori covers the full setup, why these are a communal species,, what a proper enclosure looks like, basking and ambient temps, humidity, and where she lands on the ongoing UVB debate for nocturnal species. If you keep leopard geckos, a lot of this will feel familiar. Same region of the world, similar temperature needs, same tail-fat storage. The differences are the fun part: no eyelids, so they lick their eyeballs clean, and sticky toe pads that let them walk straight up glass.

Alarming Urban Home Invasion: Venomous Brown Snake in Canberra — Jeremy Zakis — Zakis reported on a concerning home invasion in Canberra involving a highly venomous great eastern brown snake, one of Australia'sdeadliest species. Vet Antivenom Saves Child After Hospital Stock Depleted; Venomous Sea Snake Causes Wildlife Sanctuary Evacuation Jeremy Zakis The segment covers two significant snake-related incidents. A venomous sea snake, rescued from the coastline by a Good Samaritan, was dropped off at the Coffs Wildlife Sanctuary. Because sea snakes panic and become aggressive and unpredictable on land, the sanctuary had to be evacuated for two hours while specialized snake catchers were called in. Separately, an 11-year-old girl bitten by a tiger snake in South Australia was rushed to Port Augusta Hospital, which had run out of antivenom. A quick-thinking doctor secured a vial of antivenom from a local veterinarian, confirming that the antivenom used for animals is effective for treating humans in emergencies, saving the girl's life.
