Connor and Dylan are joined by Abubakr Ali (Dakar 2000, Anything's Possible). HOT off of their girls and gays trip to Miami, the twins are sunkissed and stoked to chat with Abubakr Ali, the star of MTC's Dakar 2000. This charming and wonderful leading man joins them days before opening night of his new play to discuss whether the rumors are true: is the show a spy thriller? Is it the theatre's answer to Babygirl? Wait and see, y'all… Abubakr describes how he got involved with the play, the creative process, and what it's like being in an intimate two-hander like Dakar 2000. We also dive deep into his love for the musical Once, his years studying at NYU and Yale (and the years out in LA in between!), and how New York has become home. The TV credits are boundless, but of course Connor and Dylan need to know about the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, as well as The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Law & Order: Organized Crime (go off, spinoff king). We get into the heartbreak of Netflix's Grendel never getting finished for public eyes, what it was like for the MacDowells to see Antoni Porowski in the flesh, and so much more. You're going to absolutely fall in loveeeee with Abubakr. In this episode, we explore the world of sync licensing with a focus on the personal journey of our very own Sonnet Simmons. Sync licensing can be a complex and intricate field, and there's no one better to guide us through it than Sonnet. Known for her work as both a Sync Licensing Specialist, co-founding 2Indie and as this podcast's host, Sonnet has a wealth of experience and insights to share. Sonnet's journey into sync licensing is nothing short of inspiring. From her early days as a budding musician to becoming a leading figure in the industry, she shares the pivotal moments and challenges she faced along the way. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion in carving out a successful career in a competitive field. She talks about her early life, including being born in Athens, Greece, and moving frequently as a child, which fostered her early love for singing. Sonnet recounts her experience on the ABC TV show "Rising Star" with Josh Groban, Kesha, Ludacris, and Brad Paisley and the impact it had on her career, leading to a pivotal shift towards sync licensing. She discusses the heartbreak of realizing the show's focus on ratings over genuine artistic expression and how this led her to pursue sync licensing more seriously. She credits her mentor, Cathy Heller, with guiding her into the sync world and teaching her the importance of writing music that resonates with broader audiences, beyond personal heartbreak themes. This episode is a rich source of practical advice for indie artists looking to break into the sync licensing industry, offering a blend of personal anecdotes and professional insights. Guest Bio: One of the top contestants on ABC's Rising Star with Josh Groban, Kesha, Ludacris, and Brad Paisley, singer/songwriter Sonnet Simmons' heart-opening voice has been heard by millions around the world. Join Karaleigh in an interview with the incredible Sonnet Simmons. In this episode we talk about living your dreams, the growth journey, and how motherhood fits into all of it. One of the top contestants on ABC's Rising Star with Josh Groban, Kesha, Ludacris, and Brad Paisley, singer/songwriter Sonnet Simmons' heart-opening voice has been heard by millions around the world. Her original music has landed placements with major brands like Coca Cola, GoDaddy, Nivia, T-Mobile, and Microsoft, and TV shows like Younger, Riverdale, Katy Keene and many more. Former VP of music licensing company Catch The Moon, Sonnet has been a music business coach since 2016, helping thousands of indie artists, singers, songwriters and producers around the world find success in sync. She co-founded music business education company 2Indie. 2Indie is on a mission to make career fulfillment possible for all music makers. Sonnet is a mom of two adorable toddlers and a Los Angeles native. Favorite takeaways: 1. Keep doing you, keep on your journey, keep finding your center, keep showing up authentically. 2. What lights me up is when I feel really connected to myself, to my power, and I move from that place and I'm doing the work that allows me to stay connected to that place. 3. It's amazing what two minutes of breathing will do to your nervous system. What a difference it makes to how you show up. 4. Just because it's hard and it's uncomfortable doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do. 5. That's how growth happens so many times. There's so much growth that feels like stretching and painful and then you're like- oh, actually that was the best thing for me! 6. Part of life is allowing people we love and people we don't know to just experience life. We have to be honest and stop worrying so much about how other people are going to perceive us. They just get to have their experience. 7. It's messy. It's all messy. And we get so much permission to allow it to be messy. These are the stages we just get to be the most present we can be. There's just so much grace. Nobody else is doing it perfectly. Just keep doing it. Find more from Sonnet in her website, www.2indie.com and on Instagram @sonnetmusic.

In the Mood for Chaos: A Riverdale Roasting and Recap Podcast
Both on Riverdale, and on the podcast, this week a few people come perilously close to a breakdown. Though really, how does that make this episode different from any of the others? Sure, there's a murdered boy whose killer remains at large, but there's also a talent show to worry about! Guess which event involves Archie 'low stakes' Andrews - who definitely does not understand how nicknames work. Evelyn continues to wield the threat of musical episodes with frightening dexterity, Miranda talks a lot about a really good video game (Blasphemous - check it out!), and we propose yet another Riverdale spinoff. You've heard of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, (you've probably not heard about Katy Keene,) now we present: Hal the Cuck! Content Warnings: - Arson - Drug mentions/use - Emotional abuse/manipulation/gaslighting - Hospitals/mental institutions Music: 'Imps' by Mark Revell
In this episode of The Pink Pop Box, Tony and Mark discuss all things Riverdale, Sabrina and Katy Keene. You will know every they think about these shows and find out some behind the scenes things about these shows you wouldn't have know otherwise.
Fox is welcoming summer with a very silly American Gladiators take on tag -- yes, the playground game -- so who better than Daniel MacEachern, veteran of our Holey Moley episode last year, to join us to discuss it? Around The Dial clicks through Snowpiercer, Katy Keene, Call The Midwife (CW: there are clips and you will cry), The Last Dance, Killing Eve, and a preview of Holey Moley's Season 2 premiere. Mary uses her Extra Credit to ask us which TV role permanently ruined an actor for us. We consider the induction of Big Mouth's "I Survived Jessi's Bat Mitzvah" into The Canon. Then after naming the week's Winner and Loser, it's on to a Game Time that lives to serve. Race up a wall if you have to, but listen! GUESTS
Lucy Hale is an international superstar! As a highly successful actor and singer, she is best known for the hit shows ‘Pretty little Liars' and her current show for the CW ‘Katy Keene'. In this episode we talk everything from spirituality and supernatural experiences to staying sane in self quarantine and consciously manifesting dreams! Lucy recently finished filming ‘Katy Keene' in New York before flying to Paris and Milan fashion week. She rarely has time to relax at home but all that has changed given our current self quarantine circumstances! Lucy shares how she is dealing with self isolation and staying sane and balanced at this challenging time. She talks about her spiritual journey this far and how the metaphysical world of reiki, angels and crystals has helped her tremendously on her path. In this 30min conversation we pretty much cover it all!! Enjoy! Please note: Lucy and I recorded this over FaceTime last week whilst in self quarantine, so please excuse the odd echo here and there!
Will Arnett has followed his ex-wife Amy Poehler into the field of highly meta reality show hosting with his gig on Fox's Lego Masters, and American dad (and therefore Lego Master) Jim Durr has returned to discuss the season kickoff! Around The Dial takes us through The CW's Katy Keene; Free Solo on Disney+; a roundup of titles on CBS All Access: Picard, Star Trek: The Animated Series, and Interrogation; and Dave's latest favorite local ad. Dave is also in the hot (ejector) seat in presenting The Prisoner's "Many Happy Returns" for induction into The Canon. Then after naming the week's Winner and Loser, it's on to a pun safari in this week's Non-Regulation Game Time. Careful where you step as you join us for the latest episode! GUESTS
