Lucy Gossage has been around on the long distance triathlon scene for a long time, and she's instantly recognisable with her blue Erdinger kit and infectious smile. If you don't know Lucy, she has 14 Ironman victories to her name including IMUK, IM Wales, IM Lanzarote and Patagonman (basically all the toughest ones). In 2019 she stepped back from IM racing to focus more on her work as an Oncologist in Nottingham. You'll get a sense of how Lucy likes to challenge herself with that race resume, and today's conversation is all about another of those challenges. And they don't really come much bigger than The Winter Spine Challenge - 268 miles on the Pennine Way in the depths of winter. It's a non-stop event requiring participants to be self sufficient. The temperature barely gets above 0ºC, with knee deep snow and blizzards at times, and as if that's not enough the sleep deprivation can literally be a nightmare. We chat about: Weekly power strength yoga - "I just knew that I had to get as strong as I could" The benefits of commuting to work and keeping it fun Walking poles in ultra racing - "As soon as I got them, I was like, oh my god, these are a game changer." Sleep walking - "The most terrifying discombobulating experience I've ever had." Shoe selection - "I went with Hoka Speedgoats, which many say is crazy for that terrain. But they were so comfortable." Sleep deprivation and cognitive function - "I could see the red lines on my Garmin where I'd gone off the course and I was like bloody hell I am actually sleepwalking." Today on the podcast is Owen Slacker! Olin opened up his 2024 season with a new PB at 5,000 meters (13:08.76) indoors at the BU Terrier Classic. A month later he ran a fantastic race to finish second at the USATF Indoor Championships over 3,000 meters, earning a spot on Team USA at the World Indoor Championships. At Worlds, he ran valiantly over the final two laps…eventually finishing in fifth place. Olin ran for the University of Wisconsin, where he earned an undergraduate degree in biology and a graduate degree in kinesiology while achieving notable personal bests in the mile (3:56.66), 3,000 meters (7:45.73), and 5,000 meters (13:19.34). His crowning achievement came in his senior year with a dramatic victory in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships. In 2022, he turned professional and joined HOKA NAZ Elite. In today's conversation, Olin takes me through his past few months of running and racing, his takes on Nico Young, Jakob vs. Josh, why college kids are running so fast, his plans for the outdoor season, and much more! Anytime I get Olin on the podcast is a good time. This episode was that and then some! Tap into the Owen Slacker Special. As expected Tanner Bibee finished second in the Rookie of the year. This has rather large consequences for the Cleveland Guardians. We get into what it means, what it will cost the Guardians, and why I don't think an extension is in the cards between Bibee in the Guardians at least this offseason. Tomorrow is the Rule 5 deadline for rosters, the Guardians have traditionally made a trade or two on that day. We get into the top five players I would remove and add to the 40-man. As well as a final chat about the Arizona Fall League.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Jase MedicalGet $20 off these lifesaving antibiotics with Jase Medical by using code LOCKEDON at checkout on jasemedical.com.FanDuelScore early this NFL season with FanDuel, America's Number One Sportsbook! Today I sit down with my friend Monte Taylor! Monte and I met about a year ago in Austin TX at a fitness coaching mastermind. Funny enough we actually ended up rooming together last minute as we headed to the mastermind and ended up hitting it off over the weekend and kept in contact since!A couple months after the mastermind Monte starred on CBS' Big Brother Season 24 and took home 2nd place! This was a huge achievement considering a couple years ago Monty was working at a corporate job as a mechanical engineer not really sure where he was going to take his career next. As he was trying to figure out if he wanted to stay in the corporate space, the world changed....COIVD hit!Because of this Monte was forced to work from home in a sales capacity and was feeling unfulfilled. This is when his fitness journey began.Monte would go to put on about 20lbs of weight and as a result he was approached by others in the gym and took on a side job as a personal trainer for a little bit before transitioning fully into the fitness industry. Monte credits a lot of his growth in and outside of the gym with how much work he's put in Mindset Wise! Monte uses what he's learned through books, coaches and mentors to help his own clients believe they can achieve their fitness goals as well. He speaks about the importance of gratitude, habits, affirmations, and breath work to help keep him grounded when emotions pop up and get a little bit too overwhelming. This was especially important when he was on Big Brother and the house started to get empty towards the end! Monte has a podcast himself on the way to be on the lookout for! If you want to connect with Monte or apply for coaching with him you can follow him @taylord_fit _ And if you want to apply for coaching with Monte you can hit this link!

On a very special Monday after Easter edition of Locked On Utes, Austin recaps the Red Rocks' third place finish at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships. Although Utah led halfway through the meet, the gymnastics team stumbled in the second half – especially on vault and on the floor to finish third for the second straight year. Also, Austin runs down former host and friend of the pod, Bryan Brown's observations from last week's scrimmage, including an outrageous claim that Cam Rising might be the best Utah QB since Alex Smith. Is that a slight to Brian Johnson and Tyler Huntley? Only Bryan knows. Finally, Austin wraps up the episode by responding to a few questions from listeners in the Mailbag Monday segment. Questions include Utah's options at running back, which players can be expected to break out, and how NIL deals could affect the future of the gymnastics program. Questions include Utah's options at running back, which players can be expected to break out, and how NIL deals could affect the future of the gymnastics program.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
