Regardless of the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we are capable of or not, our minds can be rewired from scarcity to abundance, from fear to love, or from self-doubt to confidence, and our guest, Tommy Breedlove, is the living proof of it. Growing up in a violent household from a violent neighborhood, he committed a violent crime, which sent him away a couple of years.A couple of years later, and after a massive effort and hard work, Tommy graduated with honors from the University of Georgia. He twisted the course of his life; he got the shiny cars, the cufflinks, the suit, the corner office, and still, something wasn't right. As he was lying in a ditch, contemplating his life, trying to understand why despite all the success, his marriage was collapsing, and he wasn't happy, he finally got it. He knew what he had to do, and he is sharing it with us today.Tommy Breedlove is a Keynote Speaker, a USA Today and Wall Street Journal Best-selling Author of the book "Legendary," and a Business, Relationship, and Mindset Coach. Then he has a wonderful interview with the author of Shine Your Bright, Heather Breedlove. As the author of Shine Your Bright, Chief Financial Officer of Keyston Bros, and Co-Founder of Choose Goodness, Heather's success has grown rapidly. Like so many of us, she grew up striving for the perfect life – a fairy tale romance and a successful career. While working her way through the checklist of accomplishments, she found a disconnect. She has found excitement in bringing her full self to every aspect of her life. Through her book, Shine Your Bright, she hopes you find the peace and courage to do the same. All too often life throws us curve balls or we end up on autopilot ready to implode. We find ourselves burying our feelings just to keep everyone and everything around us afloat. Is it time to start to release some of the pressure and get to know yourself again? With Heather's help, you can start to remember the real you and unlock the emotions you have held too closely all this time. Tommy founded the Choose Goodness movement to help individuals, leaders and organizations increase their positive impact on the world while gaining meaning and attaining financial success.Tommy Chose to leave a lucrative international financial consulting career to create the Choose Goodness movement. At the time, he had achieved financial success and gained business notoriety and prestige. However, Tommy felt unfulfilled and had lost meaning and hope in his life. At one point during our conversation, today's PYP MVP Tommy Breedlove paused and said: "I am a Picasso of screwing up. The journey never ends. When the train is running on all cylinders, the demons and the noise show up even stronger." He then goes on to tell a story he's never told anyone, one that involves flashing blue lights and having a gun held to his head. He also shares a story about a time when a trusted adviser asked him the following question: “Do you want to live your life? Or do you want to live your story?” This question stopped Tommy in his tracks and caused him to make some big changes, including doubling down on serving others. What happened next was nothing short of magical. In fact, Tommy Breedlove proves that when you start living your life from a position of serving others -- everything changes. Everything. Do you feel like you've been making all the right choices in life, but you're still unhappy? Chances are you're making compromises and not choosing for yourself. Sometimes we make choices because we are told it is the right route, or make choices for our families. In the end, however, we need to make choices for our own goodness first. It may sound selfish, but it's not. When you find your own happiness and self fulfillment, the success you want will find a way. The one thing we have in life is the power to choose and we all need to exercise it. If at the end of the day you go to bed happy and knowing you made the best choices you could that day, your world will change. Not just for you, but for everyone around you. You'd be amazed at how much happier everyone else will be. Shifting this mindset isn't easy though, and one of the first choices you will need to make is who you are around. Start surrounding yourself with people support you, encourage you, and who won't let you fail. On this episode of Creative Warriors we are joined by Tommy Breedlove. Tommy had a career that was what we would, traditionally, call great. The problem was that it, and the company he was with, didn't make him happy. He realized his wasn't choosing his path, but compromising for it. Tommy ended up quitting his job and pursuing what he loved in life. He learned the power and importance of choice, and has dedicated his life to helping others start choosing for themselves as well. If I find myself in a planning mode or remembering mode or a future mode, I always go back to the breath and start with the breath. Also have gratitude for your breath because at the end of the day it's actually what keeps us alive. And so breathing to me is everything. And so it's everything about how I live my life and in the choices that make it. It starts with the breath.
