Everyone longs for “peace on earth” at Christmastime, but few stop to ask what kind of peace the angels actually announced. In Luke 2, the message isn't sentiment, serenity, or political calm—it's something far deeper and far more urgent: peace with God himself. Join as we explore the Christmas gift that changes everything: “God and sinners reconciled.”1) Peace on earth: what it isn't2) Peace on earth: what it isText: Luke 2:8-14, Romans 5:1
Have you arrived at a place where you are right with God? Andrew Heard speaks on the wonderful grace that brings us ongoing peace with God.
We live in a world filled with noise, conflict, fear, and distraction. But into that world Jesus came announcing something radical: Peace. Not the fragile, temporary peace the world offers— but peace with God, peace within ourselves, and peace with one another. This week, Pastor Jimmy walks us through Scripture to show how the gospel brings reconciliation with God, how the Holy Spirit forms peace within us, and how believers are called to live peaceably with all.

This sermon emphasizes that true peace cannot be earned through our own goodness or religious effort but is found only in Jesus, the promised Prince of Peace. Using Simeon's encounter with the infant Jesus in Luke 2, Pastor Mike highlights that real peace comes from knowing Christ personally—not from behavior, circumstances, or self-justification. Jesus brings peace for our past through forgiveness, peace in our present through His presence in life's storms, and peace for our future through the assurance of eternal life. The message concludes by urging believers to seek God first, pray continually, and trust Him in order to walk in His lasting peace.
In a world of tumult, how and why should any aspire to be a peacemaker? When each of us is conflicted within our own hearts, in the halls of our own homes, how can we be expected to make peace? On our own, such efforts will prove futile. But God. As with all of God's word, the heavy lifting is done by God. God--in the finished work of Jesus Christ--makes peace with his creature. Christ is our peace, and because of him and through the empowerment of the Spirit, we can now--as far as it depends on us--live at peace with our fellow man. Keith Pond explains.
Peace on earth is more than a Christmas sentiment. Pastor Chris Meads teaches from Romans 5 that true peace comes only through being justified by faith in Jesus Christ. Because Christ becomes our righteousness, we now live with peace with God, access to grace today, and hope for glory when He returns.

Living in a troubled world as we do, we often have to face many perplexing issues that come our way. But what a comfort is provided us by the Word of God. In Psalm 46 we read, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear ...” We trust that this searching meditation will be uplifting and encouraging to you as a believer in Christ. If you don't yet know Christ as your Saviour, you need to obey the gospel message – acknowledge your sinfulness before a holy God and accept His provision through Christ's death on the cross as your sinless substitute. Only then will you receive the spiritual life you need to fully appreciate the full blessing of such beautiful psalms where God can speak to you personally.
Moss Brook Church Romans: The Power of the Gospel for Salvation | Peace with God November 23rd, 2025 Pastor Tim Knowles
The sermon focuses on the five eternal benefits that flow directly from being justified by faith (Romans 5:1). It highlights that Christian peace and hope are not feelings we find within ourselves, but objective realities received from God. 1. Peace with God: This is an established, objective peace (not a feeling) because Christ's finished work removed God's judgment. 2. Access to Standing in Grace: Because we have peace, we gain ongoing access to God's rich, undeserved favor, invited to approach Him confidently (the "throne of grace"). 3. The Joy of the Hope of Glory: Our hope is a confident expectation that God will complete the good work He started in us and raise us up in glory. 4. Enduring Joy in Suffering: Since God is sovereign, suffering becomes purposeful. It initiates a growth sequence: Suffering $rightarrow$ Endurance $rightarrow$ Character $rightarrow$ Hope. 5. The Love of God Poured Out: Our hope is a steadfast anchor fixed in Jesus in heaven. The anchor line in our hearts is secured by God's love, which is poured out by the Holy Spirit living within us, strengthening our assurance. In conclusion, true peace, reliable hope, and purpose in suffering are only found by trusting and growing in Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:5-8 — There is a restlessness which surrounds the non-Christian. Listen to this sermon from Romans 8:5–8 titled “At Peace with God” where Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, alluding to holy Scripture, says the person whose sins have not been forgiven is like the troubled sea. Picking up on what perhaps might be an unusual placement of “peace” in this passage, he defends the apostle Paul's emphasis on peace here and throughout the letter. Dr. Lloyd-Jones is able to connect the theme of peace to justification by faith and the righteousness of God in Romans. Furthermore, he elaborates that before God, a natural person's position is enmity and not peace. The natural person, who is controlled by a life of sin, is living in dissatisfaction. While they are always trying to find peace and joy, they cannot. However, the result of being governed by the Spirit is life and peace. This person, argues Dr. Lloyd-Jones, understands the meaning of life in this world. They also have an inner harmony, as well as an external harmony with others. Listen as Dr. Lloyd-Jones encourages the listener to find true peace by being governed by the Spirit and able to stand blameless and faultless before a holy and righteous God.

Faith isn't belief or hope—it's assurance. In this message, Dr. Gabe unpacks the true meaning of faith, challenging common misconceptions and encouraging listeners to move beyond hope into the assurance of God's reality. He explores how faith is not just belief or hope, but the unwavering confidence in God—regardless of circumstance or outcome. To live by faith is to possess an unwavering assurance in God's love, sovereignty, and presence, regardless of circumstances. It is to embrace sacrifice and trust, even when there's no earthly guarantee. As Pastor Gabriel concludes, the invitation is clear: “At some point in your walk with the Lord… you gotta choose the cross.”Support the showText encounteratl to 94000 to stay up-to-date on all things Encounter.Worship with EncounterSundays at 9 AM ET | Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ETSupport EncounterText egive to 77977 Connect with EncounterFacebook | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | WebsiteConnect with Dr. GabeInstagram | YouTube | Website

When I accompanied my friend to the salon on her birthday, we were delighted by the pampering we received. Soothing music and a personal attendant welcomed us to the tranquil, dimly lit spa. The whole experience was calm, quiet, and restful. I had to suppress a giggle, however, at a sign displayed on a table proclaiming: “This organic hair-care line gives you more than beautiful hair—it gives you peace of mind.” Even though we know neither hair products nor a salon can bring lasting peace, we often settle for temporary relief when our world is stressful. True peace only comes from one thing—or rather, one person. While encouraging the believers in Jesus in Rome, Paul reminded them, “Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). Sin separates us from God, but Christ’s atoning sacrifice makes a way for us to have a relationship with Him (5:9-10). Jesus offers peace for today and peace for eternity—providing “access into this grace” (v. 1), “the hope of the glory of God” (v. 2) and hope despite earthly suffering (vv. 3-4). Peace with God is more than simply a feeling, it’s a gift we receive through faith in Jesus. Whether we feel close to God or not, His peace is available to us— at a salon or a hospital, in times of serenity and times of chaos.

Dr. Thor Madsen preached to us from Romans 5:1-21 on how we can have peace with God.
Summary In this sermon, Dr. Michael Easley teaches from Romans 5:1–5, highlighting three profound benefits of being justified by faith: peace with God, standing in grace, and hope in the glory of God. Before Christ, we were enemies of God—hostile and guilty. But through Jesus' work, God not only forgives us, He declares us righteous and welcomes us into His presence. This peace is far more than the absence of conflict; it is a restored relationship with our Creator. We also stand in grace—a position we did not earn and cannot lose—offered solely through faith in Christ. Out of gratitude, our lives become a continual “thank You” to God, not an attempt to earn His favor. Finally, we boast in the hope of God's glory. This hope sustains us through tribulation, producing perseverance, proven character, and deeper hope. Trials are not meaningless; they are God's refining process, shaping us into what we could never become on our own. Because our hope is anchored in Him, it will never disappoint. Dr. Easley urges us to lift our eyes from life's burdens to the eternal vistas God has promised—resting in the peace, grace, and hope only He provides. Takeaways: Justification by faith gives believers peace with God—a restored relationship, not just the absence of conflict. Before Christ, we were enemies of God, but through His work we are declared righteous and welcomed into His presence. Standing in grace means living in a permanent position of God's favor, received through faith, not earned by works. Tribulations produce perseverance, which shapes proven character and strengthens our hope in God. God uses trials like a master craftsman tempers steel—refining us without breaking us. True hope in God will never disappoint because it is anchored in His glory, not our accomplishments. To read the book of Romans, click here. Click here for other Michael Easley Sermons.
Romans 5:1-2 — Chapter by chapter, Paul's letter to the Romans has explained that all humanity is under God's judgement and have hope through justification by faith, and now he is explaining that all can have peace with God. Christians were previously enemies of God but now they can have assurance and a resting faith in their salvation through Jesus Christ. In this sermon from Romans 5:1–2, titled “Having Peace with God,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones outlines how Christians know if they have this assurance and peace with God: their mind will be content with the process of justification by faith, they know that Christ loves them despite being sinners, they can answer the accusations of conscience and the devil, and they no longer fear death or judgement. If they were to fail or falter at any of these tests, then they may not have a true peace with God. Sometimes sin makes one question or doubt their justification, but regardless, their salvation is still true. Dr. Lloyd-Jones reminds that justification is one declarative act forever and faith always can fight this doubt victoriously. Dr. Lloyd-Jones also explains what the results of justification by faith look like in their lives as well as discussing what a false sense of peace with God is.
