***NOTE: I sell the High Quality download with the tracks separated/numbered/labeled with the song title so you can skip and rewind(I haven't released the tracklist to the public). Also, the download audio quality is much better than streaming quality, or trying to download the stream (Soundcloud compresses the audio to make it sound worse). If you're interested, just email me at promoguy1@gmail.com and I'll take care of you. For those of you who aren't familiar with the 1st volume, I had an idea to create a series of mixes containing 90’s dancehall reggae artists over 90’s hip hop beats. Everything from popular hits to obscure white label-only remixes, including my own custom blends of 90’s reggae acapellas over hiphop instrumentals from that time period. What began as a casual one-off “best of” type mix, evolved into a multi-volume obsession. I even learned to produce my own party breaks just for this project. The response from Vol. 1 has been great. It's received over 20,000 streams across all platforms and counting (not including downloads), and received blog coverage from the USA to Germany to Japan. Special shout out to DJ Arems, Deejay Theory & Largeup.com for being the first to spotlight it on their weekly feature 'Mixtape Mondays'. I had some time over the winter break, and finally managed to finish up Vol. 2 of the series. I tried to keep a lot of elements that people liked from part 1, as well as add some new elements to switch it up a bit. The first 40 mins of this mix starts with an uptempo, early 90's boom-bap feel. The next 50 mins segues into mid-tempo, mid-90's vibes. I've decided to keep the tracklist under wraps for now. Reason being, I always found it more fun to not know what's next. There was a certain thrill when I heard a dope track, but couldn't identify it. In this age of digital playlists where everything is meticulously labeled, I felt I'd try to bring back some of the mystique of the mixTAPE era. Some of my favourite mixtapes that I bought back in the 90's had no tracklist at all...I had to figure it out for myself. I appreciate those tapes that much more because of it. For those of you who absolutely MUST have a tracklist, I'll eventually type one up and put it out.....but I'll let this mix marinate with you for a bit. A lot of time, effort, and work went into creating this mix, so I hope my experiment works and you find yourself coming back for multiple listens, instead of skimming through it once and forgetting about it forever. Feel free to contact me with your feedback....I'd love to know what people think, and I'm open to suggestions for the next volume. I gotta largeup my old friend Masia One for blessin me with the cover art. The old 90's Reggae party poster style fits the vibe of this mix perfectly. Check out my Mixcloud page for full-length mixes, and my YouTube or Audiomack pages for single blends/remixes.

Alright, getting to squeeze one more in before we close out 2015.  What a year it been!  So much has happened.  I went to Brazil.  I watched one rocket blow up and another one land.  I listened to a ton of music and went to a lot of show.  Most importantly for me, I witnessed the miracle of child birth once again.  Let me tell you, three kids is no joke folks. But, getting to the matter at hand, what’s in store for the podcast today?  Well, you want to know what is going to form the backbone of the soundtrack for my New Years party?  No, not drum and bass though that will be playing in the side room.  It’s that latin thing that I just keep coming back to.  I don’t have a good name for it as it encompasses so many sounds but there are three labels that are the foundation for me.  First of course must be ZZK based in Buenos Aires  followed by Wonderwheel Recording and Dutty Artz both in Brooklyn, hence the podcast title.  These are by no means the only players however.  And equally important are the local latin dance parties bringing the sound to life by delivering to people on the dancefloor: Peligrosa (Austin), Subsuelo (LA), Club Zizek (Buenos Aires), Que Bajo (Brooklyn), Tormenta Tropica (SF), etc. This one has been in the works for a while and I'm so happy to finally get it out to you.  I always really like everything I play but this one is particularly special and I can’t think of a better way to close out 2015.Get involved.  Let me know what you think and what you're listening to.  Twitter: @actlistmusic, Facebook: www.facebook.com/activelistener, or email: aaron@activelistenerpodcast.comThanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists,AaronTracklist (links to buy)1.Sanacion by Nicola Cruz on Prender el Alma2.Orinoco by El Buho & Barrio Lindo on History of Colour EP3.Jardines ft. This truly unique artist speaks to his listeners through a diverse musical language he created integrating techniques and musical genres including Downtempo, Dub, Hip–Hop, Soul, Reggae, Funk, African, Latin, Bhangra, Dancehall, Disco, Electro, Bass, Tropical, Dubstep and House. Constantly revolutionizing the game, creating new sounds, and always keeping fans on their feet, J-Boogie continues to lift music to its full potential through his distinct approach and one-of-a-kind style. Cloak Dagger: First off thank you for being a part of ‘Nocturnes’ I've been a fan since your debut release on OM and can certainly say you’ve been a massive inspiration for what I do in the studio- for that I thank you. J Boogie: Thanks for the invitation. I'm honored! Cloak Dagger: Most of your musical career as a DJ and a producer was established in San Francisco. How’s the current state of music and nightlife in the bay? J Boogie: Things are changing pretty rapidly. There's lots of new money in SF which is great: new venues, new sound systems, new DJ's. The problem is it pushes out some of the established artists that have been struggling to survive in SF, one of the most expensive city's to live in. There is no middle class, mid tear venue, and it makes it harder to be creative if you only have huge/tiny clubs. SF is losing a lot of it's diversity and people who make it a creative place to be. Cloak Dagger: You’ve been digging heavy into the latest nu-disco, moombahsoul and slo-mo records that are coming out and your Night Moves party with DJ Theory are hosting much of the scenes current players. How’s the party been shaping up since it’s inception? J Boogie: We've been having a great time! We've been able to bring out guests like Poolside, Hot Toddy, Moon Boots, Jimmy Edgar, while supporting local talent like myself, B Bravo, Deejay Theory, Pacific Crew, & Papa Lu. Monarch has a Void sound system, so it's been an amazing DJing experience. Cloak Dagger: Here in NYC Cielo is the “holy land” for DJ’s I have the good pleasure of being a part of the Toca parties that jump off on the monthly there. What is San Fran’s “mecca” nightclub for DJ’s? J Boogie: Hard to say, because there are so many. Mighty, Public Works, Monarch and Mezzanine have been booking some of my favorite DJ nights, but 1015 Folsom is the huge mega club that has been doing it for YEARS. Cloak Dagger: Your last full length release ‘Undercover’ was such a dope record and I always respect the live element you incorporate into your live sets and productions. When can we expect a new J Boogie record? J Boogie: Working on it now! Hoping 2013, but you never know with how labels run. I'm also starting a disco house project with Deejay Theory called Brother in Arms that will be edits and originals. Enjoy this live recording of DJ Matt Haze (Slayer's Club/SunsetSF) from the silent disco at the Space Cowboys' 13th Annual Breakfast of Champions on New Year's Day in San Francisco. "I was honored to warm up the silent disco from the main stage at Breakfast of Champions 2013. B.O.C. is one of the events I look forward to most each year with the most exemplary display of Burner community I've witnessed outside of BRC. This mix came straight from the heart - it goes deeper than I typically do, with a focus on bass, melody and uplifting vocal tunes. You'll hear some remixes of familiar songs (feel free to sing along!) and some more obscure cuts all mashed together. I also featured some amazing local producers on here - Deejay Theory, Poolside and Mykill - as well as my dueling BRC anthems from 2012 ("Take Me Home" and "Give It"). I hope you enjoy listening to this set as much as I enjoyed playing it
