He operates CW, SSB, and digital modes on all HF bands, with possible 160-meter activity depending on local conditions. His station has a hexbeam, dipoles, and a vertical. 3G0Z – Juan Fernadez Island – “Update Ten days after the start of the Dxpedition, I have reached 15K QSOs across thedifferent bands and modes from 160 to 10m. Keep an eye to the low bands, Robinson Crusoe 3G0Z is ONAIR!  VR2XAN, Alberto, is QRV as XX9TXN from Macao until June 9, SSB, CW and FT8, on all bands 160-6, “with a special focus on North America.” He says he will attempt SSB on 80M “and maybe 160.” QSL to IV3SKB. TF1OL, Ólafur, and his wife will be on Boa Vista Island, Cape Verde, from June 12 to June 23 for a 10-day stay. During this time, he will be active on FT8 and FT4 on 80 through 6 meters under the callsign D4OL.  VK2CJR, Chris, operating as 3D2CJR, is operating holiday-style until June 9th, around the Nadi, Fiji Islands area with possible short visits to a few outlier islands. He is operatingmostly on 20 meters, probably using FT8 when time and conditions allow, with modest power of around 30–50 watts and a vertical or simple dipole setup depending on the location. As he is traveling light and prioritizing familytime, this will be a casual trip with some radio activity rather than a full DXpedition, and logs will most likely be uploaded after the trip due to limited internet access. DL2SBY, Kasimir, is QRV from Zanzibar as 5H1KB until June 12. He will use an ICOM IC-7300 with an amplifier and vertical antenna.We arrived here (LHI) safely on Monday 1st June and by 6pm we had all three stations up and running. Two x FlexRadio Aurora 520Ms and a trusty old IC7000 dedicated for FT8. Antennas are DX-Commander and an 80m Doublet, with a2nd short vertical for the IC7000. Bands will be as planned, 80 -10m, CW, SSB and FT8.And a first for our team: ClubLog Livestream. Check it out if you haven't used it before, it is a great way to see what bands we are on and who we are working, not to mention getting near real-time confirmation of your QSO. If you need (orjust want) Lord Howe Island in your log, continue to listen out for us; we're here until 14th June running three stations.SU8SOS is an Egyptian Amateur Radio Society (ERASD) activity focused on emergency communications, public demonstrations, and training for licensed operators and young volunteers to support relief, rescue, and community service during emergencies and disasters. The SU8SOS teamwill be active until June 10 on SSB and FT8 F/H across all HF bands, with QSL management by VE1AYM. 5H – Tanzania EA5JVW, Alex, isQRV as 5H3VW from Tanzania and Zanzibar Island until June 10. This will be a holiday-style portable operation from various locations around Zanzibar Island and Tanzania. Activity is expected daily between 15:30 and 17:00 UTC (18:30–20:00 local time), subject to travel plans and propagation conditions. Operation will be mainly on 20m, with possible activity on 40m, using SSB. QSL will be available via QRZ Logbook, eQSL, and bureau. 8Q – Maldives 8Q7ML will be active from Embudu Island, Maldives on June 7–14. 36. Senjam beneške piesmi, festival pesmi v slovenskih narečjih videmske pokrajine, ki ga vsaki dve leti na Lesah pripravlja kulturno društvo Rečan - Aldo Klodič in je potekal minuli konec tedna, je prinesel kar 18 novih pesmi. To je bil tudi poklon številnim ustvarjalcem festivala, med njimi Aldu Klodiču, Kekku in Petru Zuanelli. Na festivalu so nastopili tudi učenci špetrske dvojezične šole, ki so zapeli pesmi z minulih festivalov. Jutri pa bo v Benečiji šport združil mlade z obeh strani meje. Občina Tipana v sodelovanju z združenjem Evgen Blankin in časnikom Dom organizira zabavno športno prireditev Igre brez meja. Na njej bo sodelovalo več kot 80 otrok iz štirih podružničnih šol. Iz italijanske strani bodo nastopili otroci, ki obiskujejo osnovni šoli v Tipani in na Njivici, s slovenske pa otroci iz šol v Breginju in Drežnici. Vrhunec tekmovanja bo tek po ulicah Tipane. Na obeh šolah z italijanskim učnim jezikom tako v Tipani kot na Njivici se otroci pridno učijo slovenščine na tečajih, ki jih organizira združenje Evgen Blankin s podporo Dežele FJK in Urada Vlade RS za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu.

V več vaseh Nadiških dolin v Benečiji v Italiji bodo ob godu svetega Marka, ki bo to soboto, 25. aprila, potekale procesije. Te se vijejo ob poljih, čez travnike in skozi gozdove s prošnjo Bogu za dobro letino in varstvo pred naravnimi nesrečami in boleznimi. Med procesijo se pojejo litanije vseh svetnikov ali pa se moli rožni venec, na koncu je sveta maša v cerkvi. To soboto ob 8h se bo procesija začela v Tarčmunu, petnajst minut kasneje v vasi Matajur, nato še v Marseu, sledile bodo še druge vasi. Ena od prošenj je povezana tudi s obvarovanjem pred potresom. Letos mineva pol stoletja od katastrofalnega potresa, ki je maja in septembra leta 1976 prizadel Furlanijo. Da bi lepa tradicija Markovih procesih ne šla v pozabo, je združenje Blankin pred časom pripravilo dokumentarni film in knjižico Obredi, ki jih opravljajo v cerkvi Svetega Janeza Krstnika na Tarčmunu.

Velika noč je praznovanje največjega čudeža, ki je vstajenje Jezusa Kristusa od mrtvih. Beneški petnajstdnevnik Dom v sveži izdaji postavlja v ospredje glavno sporočilo osrednjega krščanskega praznika, ki je mir. Objavljen je urnik svetih maš od sobote pred cvetno nedeljo do velikonočnega ponedeljka za Nadiške doline, Idrsko dolino, Terske doline, Kanalsko dolino in Rezijo. Na voljo bo tudi možnost za vse, ki bi ob teh praznikih radi šli k slovenskemu bogoslužju. Jutri bo pri tedenski sveti maši po slovensko v farni cerkvi v Špetru ob 19. uri blagoslov ojčnih vejic. Na veliko soboto, 4. aprila, ob 18. uri bo v cerkvi v Ažli velikonočna vigilija v slovenskem jeziku. Na začetku bo duhovnik opravil blagoslov ognja, na koncu pa bo še tradicionalni blagoslov velikonočnih jedil. Velikonočna številka beneškega Doma prinaša še prilogo o Marijini romarski poti v Porčinju, kjer je »Ne boj se« po Mariji zaslišala Terezija Dush in nanj odgovorila.

Modernizacijski pritiski sodobnega sveta so v zadnjih desetletjih korenito spremenili življenja ljudi v Nadiških dolinah, te spremembe pa so se potem odrazile tudi v močno spremenjeni podobi tamkajšnje kulturne krajinePred nekaj leti je slovenske ljubitelje in ljubiteljice sedme umetnosti navdušil film Zgodbe iz kostanjevih gozdov, celovečerec, ki ga je njegov režiser in so-scenarist Gregor Božič umestil med strme hribe in odročne doline Beneške Slovenije. Film je gledalke in gledalce očaral predvsem z lepimi, pravzaprav že kar sapo jemajočimi podobami tamkajšnje neokrnjene narave. A te estetizantne podobe tihih, rumenečih gozdov imajo tudi svojo senčnejšo, hrbtno stran, stran, o kateri se lahko pouči, kdor v roke vzame Zaraščanje in upanje v Beneški Sloveniji. Gre za intrigantno razpravo, ki jo je pri Založbi Univerze v Ljubljani lani objavila antropologinja, predavateljica na ljubljanski Filozofski fakulteti, dr. Tina Ivnik, v njej pa piše – kot pravzaprav lahko razberemo že iz podnaslova knjige – o preobrazbah kulturne krajine Nadiških dolin. To pomeni, povedano precej preprosto, da se avtorica v svoji monografiji posveča vprašanju, kako so modernizacijski pritiski sodobnega sveta spremenili življenja ljudi v Beneški Sloveniji in kako so se te spremembe potem navzven odrazile v podobi tamkajšnje krajine, ki se je v zadnjega pol ali tri četrt stoletja menda precej spremenila, precej pogozdila. In kolikor je razumeti razpravljanje dr. Ivnik, so ti isti gozdovi, ki so tako navdušili slovenske cinefile, v očeh Beneških Slovencev videti čisto drugače. Takole namreč beremo v predgovoru: »O gozdu so mi pripovedovali z nejevoljo, večkrat so me podučili, da gozd Nadiških dolin ni lep gozd, in ga nasploh opisovali kot nekakšno nadlogo.« Zakaj tako? Od kod ta resentiment? Kaj se je Beneški Sloveniji, njenim krajem in njenim ljudem zgodilo v novejši dobi, da so razvili tak odnos do gozda? – To so vprašanja, ki so nas zaposlovala v tokratnem Kulturnem fokusu, ko smo pred mikrofonom gostili prav dr. Ob robu 54. novoletnega srečanje Slovencev Videmske pokrajine in Posočja v Kobaridu so podpisali pismo o nameri za ustanovitev Evropskega združenja za teritorialno sodelovanje (EZTS) na tem območju, ki predstavlja začetek novega skupnega poglavja razvoja čezmejnega prostora. Že dlje časa so iskali ustrezen model skupnega razvojnega pristopa, s katerim bi lahko sistematično uresničevali pobude in ideje. Na lanskem srečanju je dozorela ideja o ustanovitvi EZTS, letošnje srečanje pa je prineslo podpis pisma o nameri. EZTS z delovnim imenom Povezane doline - Valli condivise bo združeval pet slovenskih občin - Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Kanal ob Soči in Brda -, 23 italijanskih občin, povezanih v dve gorski skupnosti (Gorska skupnost Nadiških in Terskih dolin ter Gorska skupnost Železne in Kanalske doline) ter občini Čedad in Prapotno. Dogodka se je udeležil tudi minister za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu Matej Arčon, eden od pobudnikov ustanovitve EZTS. Na srečanju je dejal, da je EZTS priložnost za novo razvojno dinamiko, ki lahko prebivalcem ob meji prinese konkretne koristi, predvsem mladim, ter okrepi sodelovanje na kulturnem, gospodarskem in družbenem področju.

Arrival is scheduled for 2:25 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, local time. Gregg, W6IZT, reports that the PJ6Y team (https://pj6y2025.com/) is enroute and will rendezvous in St. Martin early this afternoon before boarding the short flight to Saba. The entire team is very excited to arrive on the island. Thanks to everyone for your continued support — we look forward to seeing you in the pileups! The D2A DXPedition to Angola, QRV until October 28, consists of Portuguese and Spanish operators commemorating Angola's 50th anniversary of independence. QSL via EA7FTR.  The 5KØUA DXPedition team will arrive on San Andrés Island between October 15-20 and expects to be on the air October 20-30. They will leave the island November 3. They plan to operate 160-10M CW, SSB, and FT8, and will be in the CQ Worldwide DX Contest, SSB. Before and after the contest, they will conduct “regular DX activity.” QSL using LoTW or Club Log OQRS.  Phill remains active as C21TS from Nauru until the end of November, then he will be QRT for 2 months and back starting from February 2026. ‘I'll probably be back for a few months from February 2026 with minimal gear, probably just FT-891. Hear about travel to Solomon Islands as the Amateur Traveler talks to Chris Shorrock from Travel Obscure about his adventurous trip in these remote Pacific islands. Why should you go to the Solomon Islands? Chris says, "There's lots of reasons. One of the reasons we didn't really focus on World War II history. One of my big reasons for going was it's an adventurous destination and I like an adventurous destination. There's not many people going on holiday to the Solomons, so that was one of the big appeals. But besides that amazing natural beauty: jungle-clad volcanic islands, turquoise oceans, and then below the surface of the ocean lots of sea creatures, coral reefs, very spectacular underwater environment." This is an adventurous loop through the Central Province: starting in Honiara, crossing to Savo Island for volcano hikes and megapode eggs, then finishing with shipwreck snorkeling at Roderick Bay before returning to Honiara. Flights: Most travelers arrive from Brisbane (easiest option). Other routes exist via Port Moresby (less reliable), Nadi, or Auckland (via Vanuatu). Practical tip: Honiara is the last place you'll find ATMs, pharmacies, or proper shops. Inštitut za slovensko kulturo v Benečiji je kulturno in jezikovno središče zamejskih Slovencev v Italiji, ki prebivajo od Kanalske doline in Rezije do Terskih in Nadiških dolin. Ustanovljen je bil leta 2006 z namenom, da kot močna krovna organizacija omogoči bolj učinkovito uveljavljanje in ohranjanje slovenskega jezika in kulture v krajih, kjer je pripoved zgodovine v odnosu do Slovencev težka in mračna. “Prišel sem z dežja pod kap.” To preprosto reklo zgovorno označuje razmere v Benečiji takoj po drugi svetovni vojni. S temi besedami se začne knjiga Mračna leta Benečije, ki sta jo pod psevdonimom NAZ napisala duhovnika Marino Qualizza in Božo Zuanella. Knjiga o delovanju tajnih organizacij v Benečiji je izšla v italijanščini leta 1996 v Čedadu, slovenski prevod pa je Cankarjeva založba v Ljubljani objavila dve leti pozneje. Duhovnika sta bila za svoje delo preganjana na sodišču, pogum, s katerim sta prekinila molk, dolg desetletja, pa naj bi vplival tudi na njuni profesionalni karieri. Oba sta v visoki starosti umrla maja 2025. Ravno tisti mesec pa je Inštitut za slovensko kulturo v Benečiji izvolil novo vodstvo sedmih posameznic različnih generacij, vseh izredno dejavnih na raznih področjih življenja slovenske manjšine v Benečiji. Prvi večji dogodek so članice novega vodstva posvetile ravno umrlima duhovnikoma in lokalno skupnost pozvale k skupnemu branju njunih besed. Besedilo je bilo na voljo tako v slovenščini kot v italijanščini, branje pa je spodbudilo tudi marsikatero zgodbo starejših generacij, ki so ji lahko prisluhnili mladi, ki teh časov niso doživeli. Predstavnice vodstva smo povabili k pogovoru o tem, kako vidijo vlogo Inštituta za slovensko kulturo v regiji in širše ter položaju slovenske manjšine v sedanjih časih.

Why does it cost so much to travel to New Zealand's smaller regions? Palmerston North flying one-way to Dunedin this Saturday costs $650. To fly to Brisbane, it is actually a tad more expensive to fly across the Tasman at $1000 one-way. Heading from Palmerston North to the sunny shores of Rarotonga is $30 cheaper than going to Dunedin at $623 and Nadi even better $416. So what would it take for our smaller operators to be more competitive? NZ Airports Association chief executive Billie Moore spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.

I've been on the yogic path since I was about 12 years old, when I first saw a sign in my town outside of Boston that simply read: YOGA. Something deep within me lit up. I turned to my mom and said, “You need to take me there.”
