De la Guadeloupe au Brésil, MdM s'intéresse à la production monumentale des studios Debs à Pointe-à-Pitre et au nouvel et 5ème album de Flavia Coelho invitée de la #SessionLive. Notre 1er invité est le réalisateur Miguel Octave pour son film documentaire « Studio Debs », la folle histoire d'Henri Debs et son rayonnement dans la culture guadeloupéenne et caribéenne.Pour le réalisateur Miguel Octave, les Antilles sont une très importante zone de carrefours et de brassages culturels. Les musiques venues d'Afrique, d'Europe et des Amériques s'y croisent mais la grande force de cette région est qu'elle a généré de nouveaux genres musicaux : Gwoka, Biguine, Reggae, Calypso, Compas, Cadence, Salsa, etc.Évoquer le STUDIO DEBS, c'est parcourir l'histoire de cette musique, de la Guadeloupe dont la famille DEBS était originaire, à la Martinique sans oublier la Dominique, Haïti, Porto-Rico et les autres îles de la Caraïbe...Henri Debs fut un acteur majeur de ses musiques : il était musicien, auteur, compositeur, interprète, producteur et son domaine d'intervention couvrait l'ensemble de la région. Son frère George dit Jojo, installé en 1965 en Martinique, deviendra lui aussi un acteur incontournable de la vie culturelle locale en produisant des albums emblématiques comme ceux de Malavoi et Kassav, donnant ainsi à ses musiques, une dimension internationale. Puis nous recevons Flavia Coelho pour la sortie de son nouvel et 5ème album GingaCe cinquième album principalement chanté en portugais est dédié aux musiques de cœur qui ont rythmé son adolescence, autrement dit, le son du début des années 90 jusqu'aux années 2000, que Flavia Coelho écoutait en boucle et parfois même, en cachette de son père, sur le petit poste de radio qu'il lui avait offert pour l'aider à s'endormir. Au contraire, pour la petite Flavia, c'est tous les soirs la fiesta, éveillée jusqu'à 2h du matin, écoutant dans son lit, le transistor collé à l'oreille, les musiques de clubs internationaux, les dj sets, les remixes, les hits comme «The rhythm of the Night» de Corona, devenu l'hymne de Flavia, son disque de chevet.Les années 90 représentent un grand bouleversement musical, mais aussi politique dans la vie de la chanteuse. De 1964 à 1985, le Brésil vit sous dictature militaire, Flavia Coelho qui est née en 1980, fait partie de la génération qui a pu profiter de toutes les musiques du monde entier avec l'arrivée des radios libres. Cette époque coïncide également avec une étape charnière et douloureuse dans sa vie intime. Le début de l'adolescence de la jeune Flavia a été particulièrement compliqué, marqué par le décès de sa mère à l'âge de 11 ans, et l'obligation de vivre avec son père. Ce père, ancien militaire, mélomane à ses heures, mais aux antipodes de l'esprit festif, du militantisme féministe et LGBT qu'incarnait sa mère, artiste maquilleuse-coiffeuse, reine de la nuit et des baile funk des cabarets brésiliens.Toute la discographie de Flavia Coelho repose sur son évolution personnelle, de la fougueuse et rêveuse adolescente, à la pétillante jeune femme engagée. L'histoire de son album précédent par exemple, DNA, sorti en 2019, a commencé lorsqu'elle avait 38 ans, précisément l'âge qu'avait sa mère lors de sa disparition. Un album que Flavia Coelho a naturellement consacré à ce qu'elle décrit comme «l'oeuf», c'est-à-dire, ses origines, mais aussi la richesse du métissage, de l'acceptation de soi et de la transmission, faisant par la même occasion écho à la situation politique du Brésil sous Bolsonaro à l'époque. Aujourd'hui, Flavia Coelho poursuit son exploration de l'identité et sa quête d'authenticité, en abordant les thèmes de la reconstruction, du courage, et de la résilience, avec son fidèle producteur et arrangeur Victor Vagh-Weinmann, rencontré à ses débuts en France. Ensemble, ils ont initié et conçu tout le matériel de composition, les pads électro, orgues, claviers, guitares et percussions. Ces ingrédients mêlés aux mélodies entraînantes et à la sublime voix de l'envoûtante Flavia, ont donné vie aux dix pépites de GINGA. L'écriture de ce nouvel opus a commencé, il y a deux ans, après un déclic provoqué par une phrase-clé, entendue par l'artiste : « Nous vivons nos vingt premières années, puis les vingt suivantes servent à comprendre les vingt premières ».À 43 ans, Flavia Coelho est précisément arrivée à cette étape de sa vie. Pour créer GINGA, la chanteuse s'est replongée dans toutes les musiques de sa jeunesse, notamment les chansons sud-américaines de télénovelas bien kitch confie-t-elle avec amusement, mais tellement importantes et fondatrices de son univers artistique. Puis Flavia a enregistré ses idées sur son dictaphone qui ne la quittait plus, elle s'est mise à écrire et réaliser ses titres en studio, entre Août et Décembre 2023, dans une urgence vitale, comme un défi personnel à relever et une saudade typiquement « coelhienne », gorgée d'émotions. Funk, house, latin american, samba, reggae ou amapiano, dans GINGA, Flavia Coelho fusionne les genres et les héritages, orchestrés avec divers grades de sensualités et de vibrations, fruit de plus d'une centaine d'heures d'enregistrements. Pour la première fois, Flavia Coelho a totalement donné sa confiance à des collaborateurs réputés pour le mixage, comme un besoin impérieux de confier son travail, et prendre du recul pour offrir un tout nouveau relief à ses chansons si proches d'elle. Ainsi, c'est à Tom Fire, Prince Fatty, Paul de Synapson ou encore Guts qu'est revenue la délicate mission du mixage final du disque. Flavia Coelho nous hypnotise dès l'ouverture du disque avec sa chanson « Mama Santa », comme un clin d'œil à sa mère. La Garota do Rio qui a pris d'assaut la scène musicale française en 2011 pour prouver à son père qu'elle était une vraie artiste, clôture son épopée avec « De vous à moi », une vibrante déclaration d'amour adressée à son pays d'adoption, la France. Flavia prend son envol et nous embarque dans un voyage, du Brésil à Londres en passant par la Provence, Paris et partout ailleurs. De la Guadeloupe au Brésil, MdM s'intéresse à la production monumentale des studios Debs à Pointe-à-Pitre et au nouvel et 5ème album de Flavia Coelho invitée de la #SessionLive. Notre 1er invité est le réalisateur Miguel Octave pour son film documentaire « Studio Debs », la folle histoire d'Henri Debs et son rayonnement dans la culture guadeloupéenne et caribéenne.Pour le réalisateur Miguel Octave, les Antilles sont une très importante zone de carrefours et de brassages culturels. Les musiques venues d'Afrique, d'Europe et des Amériques s'y croisent mais la grande force de cette région est qu'elle a généré de nouveaux genres musicaux : Gwoka, Biguine, Reggae, Calypso, Compas, Cadence, Salsa, etc.Évoquer le STUDIO DEBS, c'est parcourir l'histoire de cette musique, de la Guadeloupe dont la famille DEBS était originaire, à la Martinique sans oublier la Dominique, Haïti, Porto-Rico et les autres îles de la Caraïbe...Henri Debs fut un acteur majeur de ses musiques : il était musicien, auteur, compositeur, interprète, producteur et son domaine d'intervention couvrait l'ensemble de la région. Son frère George dit Jojo, installé en 1965 en Martinique, deviendra lui aussi un acteur incontournable de la vie culturelle locale en produisant des albums emblématiques comme ceux de Malavoi et Kassav, donnant ainsi à ses musiques, une dimension internationale. Puis nous recevons Flavia Coelho pour la sortie de son nouvel et 5ème album GingaCe cinquième album principalement chanté en portugais est dédié aux musiques de cœur qui ont rythmé son adolescence, autrement dit, le son du début des années 90 jusqu'aux années 2000, que Flavia Coelho écoutait en boucle et parfois même, en cachette de son père, sur le petit poste de radio qu'il lui avait offert pour l'aider à s'endormir. Au contraire, pour la petite Flavia, c'est tous les soirs la fiesta, éveillée jusqu'à 2h du matin, écoutant dans son lit, le transistor collé à l'oreille, les musiques de clubs internationaux, les dj sets, les remixes, les hits comme «The rhythm of the Night» de Corona, devenu l'hymne de Flavia, son disque de chevet.Les années 90 représentent un grand bouleversement musical, mais aussi politique dans la vie de la chanteuse. De 1964 à 1985, le Brésil vit sous dictature militaire, Flavia Coelho qui est née en 1980, fait partie de la génération qui a pu profiter de toutes les musiques du monde entier avec l'arrivée des radios libres. Cette époque coïncide également avec une étape charnière et douloureuse dans sa vie intime. Le début de l'adolescence de la jeune Flavia a été particulièrement compliqué, marqué par le décès de sa mère à l'âge de 11 ans, et l'obligation de vivre avec son père. Ce père, ancien militaire, mélomane à ses heures, mais aux antipodes de l'esprit festif, du militantisme féministe et LGBT qu'incarnait sa mère, artiste maquilleuse-coiffeuse, reine de la nuit et des baile funk des cabarets brésiliens.Toute la discographie de Flavia Coelho repose sur son évolution personnelle, de la fougueuse et rêveuse adolescente, à la pétillante jeune femme engagée. L'histoire de son album précédent par exemple, DNA, sorti en 2019, a commencé lorsqu'elle avait 38 ans, précisément l'âge qu'avait sa mère lors de sa disparition. Un album que Flavia Coelho a naturellement consacré à ce qu'elle décrit comme «l'oeuf», c'est-à-dire, ses origines, mais aussi la richesse du métissage, de l'acceptation de soi et de la transmission, faisant par la même occasion écho à la situation politique du Brésil sous Bolsonaro à l'époque. Aujourd'hui, Flavia Coelho poursuit son exploration de l'identité et sa quête d'authenticité, en abordant les thèmes de la reconstruction, du courage, et de la résilience, avec son fidèle producteur et arrangeur Victor Vagh-Weinmann, rencontré à ses débuts en France. Ensemble, ils ont initié et conçu tout le matériel de composition, les pads électro, orgues, claviers, guitares et percussions. Ces ingrédients mêlés aux mélodies entraînantes et à la sublime voix de l'envoûtante Flavia, ont donné vie aux dix pépites de GINGA. L'écriture de ce nouvel opus a commencé, il y a deux ans, après un déclic provoqué par une phrase-clé, entendue par l'artiste : « Nous vivons nos vingt premières années, puis les vingt suivantes servent à comprendre les vingt premières ».À 43 ans, Flavia Coelho est précisément arrivée à cette étape de sa vie. Pour créer GINGA, la chanteuse s'est replongée dans toutes les musiques de sa jeunesse, notamment les chansons sud-américaines de télénovelas bien kitch confie-t-elle avec amusement, mais tellement importantes et fondatrices de son univers artistique. Puis Flavia a enregistré ses idées sur son dictaphone qui ne la quittait plus, elle s'est mise à écrire et réaliser ses titres en studio, entre Août et Décembre 2023, dans une urgence vitale, comme un défi personnel à relever et une saudade typiquement « coelhienne », gorgée d'émotions. Funk, house, latin american, samba, reggae ou amapiano, dans GINGA, Flavia Coelho fusionne les genres et les héritages, orchestrés avec divers grades de sensualités et de vibrations, fruit de plus d'une centaine d'heures d'enregistrements. Pour la première fois, Flavia Coelho a totalement donné sa confiance à des collaborateurs réputés pour le mixage, comme un besoin impérieux de confier son travail, et prendre du recul pour offrir un tout nouveau relief à ses chansons si proches d'elle. Ainsi, c'est à Tom Fire, Prince Fatty, Paul de Synapson ou encore Guts qu'est revenue la délicate mission du mixage final du disque. Flavia Coelho nous hypnotise dès l'ouverture du disque avec sa chanson « Mama Santa », comme un clin d'œil à sa mère. La Garota do Rio qui a pris d'assaut la scène musicale française en 2011 pour prouver à son père qu'elle était une vraie artiste, clôture son épopée avec « De vous à moi », une vibrante déclaration d'amour adressée à son pays d'adoption, la France. Flavia prend son envol et nous embarque dans un voyage, du Brésil à Londres en passant par la Provence, Paris et partout ailleurs. ¡Somos los Mods! Mensualmente Txarly Brown intenta convencernos de la transversalidad de la rumba. De su capacidad de fusión, hibridación y mestizaje. Volviendo al tema. ¿Y qué pintan los mods aquí?. En el aspecto antropológico, el estilo de vida sofisticado, hedonista y elegante de los gitanos rumberos podría equipararse al de muchos mods. Pero aquí solo hay música.Este Achilitime selecciona influencias flamencas sobre el pop ye-yé, el beat, el garaje, el northern soul, el modern jazz y todos esos estilos bailables que hacen las delicias de la parroquia modernista. Sin acotarse en el tiempo, arranca con el beat agitanado de Los Nevada, para seguir con la versión del Flamenco de Los Brincos adaptada al inglés que demuestra la trascendencia de este estilo. Para la BSO de Kill Bill 3 seguro que encaja. Otros ejemplos de garaje beat aflamencado: llegan con Los Sprinters, Los Tamara o un Manolo Escobar orquestal y rítmico. El Principe Gitano alucinando en plan beatnik o los primeros cortes ye-yés de Dolores Abril antes de caer en las redes de Juanito Valderrama. Sigue la sesión con el Noi más pop y Encarnita Polo, nuestra Nancy Sinatra de la copla. Llega el tramo Wigan Casino con el Torremolinos Soul de Santiesteban, que en realidad es el Sin Nada de Chacho en plan bossanova, luego suena la semilla del floorfiller de Chacho, Bum Bum en versión primigenia de Ellas titulado Llovió. Para acercarnos al presente con Los Retrovisores filtrados por el Achilifunk Sound System con la voz de Jack Chakataga. Del northern al modern jazz con la revisión del Espardenya de Arrels de Gràcia por parte de Voodoocuts por mediación de nuevo de la pandilla Achilifunk. De ahí a una modette Rosario versionenado a Tequila, para retornar a los años 70 con otro pelotazo de La Terremoto, nunca mejor dicho, A la Pelota. Vuelve el yeyismo pop con Los del Valme en plan bullyng, El Gordito; Richart con un arrebatado Caña Gitana en Beat y Encarnita, Pepa Bandera, con sobredosis de Beatles por mediación conyugal de Adolfo Waitzman. Cerramos con el surf pop contundente de Los Coronas y su brutal versión del Flamenco, y Prince Fatty haciendo lo propio con el Hava Naguila. Poco más hace falta para una soireé flamenco mod spanish bizarra. Al hilo de esta sesión en breve aparecerá, si no lo ha hecho ya, el disco Flamenco Pop en Adarce Records que amplia, documenta y complementa esta sesión. Uno de sus ideólogos es común y la portada se parece en exceso a pesar del cambio cromático. En Achilitime todo tiene sentido aunque parezca una locura.
