It's sweet hellos and sad goodbyes on this week's Independent Music Podcast as we welcome back Ragga Twins, who are releasing their first new record in 28 years, and the Jungle is as blistering as ever it was. Not so blistering as ever it was is Not Waving, who continues his development into more thought-provoking downtempo electronics, bringing back frequent collaborator Marie Davidson on his latest. Elsewhere there's stunning folk from Mary Hampton, beautiful psych guitar experimentation from Jon Richards, Israeli psych funk, and a lot more. We also have the latest posthumous record from Jaimie Branch, which is poignant and as excellent as ever she was. You can listen to the first six tracks for free. Sound engineer and record producer Mike Pelanconi (better known under his record name, Prince Fatty) reflects on working alongside Snoop Dogg and Rick Rubin in L.A. and producing and engineering for reggae legends in the UK. Recently he's been installing an extremely rare Neve 8068 desk into Brighton's soon-to-be-opened Seaside Studios. He explains why it's one of the most sought after mixing consoles in the world, and a studio worth visiting.

We're back with another scorcher of an episode this month. In the guest seat we have U.K DJ legend Andy Smith! Andy's well known for his document mixtape's...with the 20th anniversary since they started this month, we just had to get him on to lay down a mix. Plus the usual bangers from our crates with new music from Prince Fatty ft. Omar and Fatlip, a tasty release from Mukatsuku Records and plenty more sunshine jams to keep you smiling. Enjoy x
They say that certain individuals are born with music in their DNA. Few can argue with such a statement when looking back upon the career and continued commitment of Dele Sosimi to his art. Between 1979 and 1986 he performed and recorded with Fela Kuti, afrobeat pioneer and legend. Following that he went on to form The Positive Force alongside Femi Kuti Many years later he now resides in London and works with his own Afrobeat Orchestra. London based record label the Wah Wah 45s spotted an opportunity within the music of Dele Sosimi and as a result recently unleashed a collection of dub edits on the label. Reimagined by Prince Fatty and Nostalgia 77 the pair revisited six of Dele Sosimi's tracks and skewed them with a sound built for soundsystems the world over. Following this release it seemed a fitting opportunity to explore the musical career of Dele Sosimi in full, by no means is this mix a reflection of that, however Dom Servini of Wah Wah 45s offers an insight into one of afrobeats most valuable players.
