Kutahu, mereka ingin mengambil aku, tapi kalau mereka melihat aku buta, mereka selalu mengambil anak lain dan aku ditinggal seorang diri.
Dalam nama Tuhan Yesus aku berdoa, AminWonder Kids, TUHAN MENGAJAR KITA UNTUK MEMBERKATI ORANG LAIN, BAHKAN KETIKA MEREKA BRBUAT JAHAT KEPADA KITA. Tuhan Yesus memberkati

Send us a textAs makers, we often feel pressure to create what we think will sell rather than what genuinely excites us, but what if following your authentic creative vision is actually the fastest path to finding your people and building sustainable success? Danielle Williams of Strong Roots Pottery discovered this when she finally allowed herself to explore the hair-inspired clay work that had been sitting in her sketchbook for years—her now-signature Bantu knot vases didn't just reignite her passion for making, they created such demand that she now maintains a waitlist of eager customers. By giving herself permission to make what truly resonated with her (even when it meant stepping away from "safer" planter sales), she found that following her long-held creative vision became her greatest business asset, proving that the courage to pursue your personal creative interests—rather than chasing trends or quick sales—often leads to the kind of meaningful work that sustains both your artistic soul and your bank account.Love this podcast? We're back for Part 2 and for our 60TH EPISODE! In this even more culture-lit-laden episode, Dean, Tom, and Torin resume poring over Christopher Moore's book “The Untranslatables”, about terms representing universal concepts that don't have a direct translation in U.S. English, like the French term “esprit de l'escalier”, the Mandarin word “guanxi”, and the Bantu word “ubuntu”. Dean's stories, tales, and lessons learned abound (and astound) as the bibliophilic blokes explore why the terms' original cultures required, and others did not require, the creation and use of these terms in their respective parts of the globe. We heartily thank you sixty times over for laughing and learning with us over sixty episodes! Speaking of Dean's stories galore and loving books: We KNOW you'll love Dean's newest book, "Business Beyond Borders: Stories, Tales, and Lessons Learned from Working in 100 Cultures Around the World”. It'll be released Nov. 4th in hardcover and Nov. 6th in Kindle and audiobook - pre-order it today! ***Special thanks to Christopher Moore and “The Untranslatables: The Most Intriguing Words from Around the World”.*** Have a cultural question or episode idea? Amin. (Dod).

Lingthusiasm - A podcast that's enthusiastic about linguistics
Linguistic research has its highs and lows: from staging a traditional wedding to learn about ceremonial words to having your efforts to found a village school disrupted by civil war. Linguistic research can also be about highs and lows: in this case, looking at how high and low tones in Babanki words affect their meaning. In this episode, your host Lauren Gawne gets enthusiastic about the highs and lows of fieldwork in Babanki with Dr. Pius Akumbu, who's a linguist from Babanki, Cameroon, and a Director of Research in African Linguistics at CNRS in the LLACAN Lab (the Languages and Cultures of Africa Lab) in Paris, France. We talk about Professor Akumbu's documentation work on a wide variety of topics from the relationship of Babanki to other Grassfields and Bantu languages, what happens when words have a mysterious extra tone that is only produced under the right circumstances (floating tones), to that time he staged a false wedding to document traditional wedding ceremonial language – and led to a real couple opting for a traditional-style wedding of their own. We also talk about the process of founding a school in his home village to ensure that children have access to primary education in their own language. We also have over 100 bonus episodes for patrons, with a few interviews there as well. In this month's bonus episode we get enthusiastic about the joys and challenges of translating internet slang with Miguel Sánchez Ibáñez, linguist and translator of Because Internet into Spanish! We talk about why Because Internet was the toughest and also most entertaining book he's ever translated (for some of the same reasons), from coming up with localized Spanish versions of vintage internet memes to making the silly names of pretend people in the example sentences just as silly in Spanish. We also talk about leaving breadcrumbs for future translators in the original text and the special challenge of translocalizing the title: Arroba Lengua isn't a literal translation of Because Internet, but it fits similarly into Spanish internet slang. Amin. (Dod).

The National Dialogue which kicks off today continues to draw attention as South Africans seek solutions to the country's socioeconomic issues. The Dialogue has sparked debate, with anti-corruption and Social Justice activist Dr. Makhosi Khoza questioning the selection of participants. In a statement, Khoza criticized the dominance of English and Afrikaans in business and education, which reportedly marginalize 75% of South Africans who speak Bantu languages. Khoza is calling for inclusive policies, ethical governance and support for black entrepreneurship to dismantle structural barriers and promote equality. Elvis Presslin talked to her to elaborate further on her sentiments...
On this episode of Unsupervised Learning Razib talks to human geneticist Cesar Fortes-Lima about his paper from earlier this year, Population history and admixture of the Fulani people from the Sahel. Fortes-Lima has a Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology, and his primary research areas include African genetic diversity, the African diaspora, the transatlantic slave trade, demographic inference, admixture dynamics and mass migrations. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Human Evolution at Uppsala University, Forest-Lima is now an instructor in genetic medicine at the Johns Hopkins University. He is also a returning guest to the podcast, having earlier come on to discuss his paper The genetic legacy of the expansion of Bantu-speaking peoples in Africa. Razib and Fortes-Lima first contextualize who the Fulani are in the West African socio-historical context, in particular, their role as transmitters of Islam across the Sahel. They also discuss the importance of having numerous Fulani subpopulations in the publication; earlier work had generalized about the Fulani from a small number of samples from a single tribe. Fortes-Lima highlights the primary finding, in particular, that the Fulani seem to have what we now call “Ancient North African” (ANA) ancestry. That people was related to, but not descended from, the “out of Africa” population which gave rise to Eurasians. They also explore the role of natural selection in allowing the Fulani to subsist on a diet high in milk, and how the Fulani lactase persistence mutation is exact same with Eurasians rather than East Africans. Fortest-Lima also reviews some of the earlier 20th-century anthropological speculations about the origins of the Fulani, and what his results show about their affinities (or lack thereof) to groups in West Asia and the Maghreb.

This week on Let's Try This Again, I'm your host B Simone, and I'm sitting down with the hilarious and inspiring Zainab Johnson. From the moment I discovered Zainab on social media—rocking her Bantu knots and dropping truth with every punchline—I knew I had to have her on the show. In this episode, we get real about what it's like to break into stand-up comedy as a Black Muslim woman, and how sometimes the things that make us different become our superpowers.Zainab shares how she never saw women like herself represented in comedy or on TV growing up, and how that inspired her to become the role model she wished she'd had. She opens up about her first time on stage, admitting she thought she'd fail but wanted a good story to tell—only to discover she was actually good at it and wanted to try again the very next day. We laugh about the wild journey from open mics at hookah lounges to touring internationally, and how being brutally honest about her life—like growing up with 13 siblings, wearing a hijab as a kid, or experimenting with hair—became the heart of her comedy. We also dive into real talk about identity, faith, and self-acceptance. Zainab breaks down why she chose to stop wearing her hijab as a teen and how, as an entertainer, she's on a mission to affirm the existence of young girls who don't see themselves reflected in the media. We even get into the stigma around Black women and hair, and how owning your truth—whether it's a flip-over weave or a shaved head—can be freeing and funny. If you've ever felt like the odd one out, doubted your path, or needed a reminder that your story matters, this episode is for you. Tune in for laughter, wisdom, and a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep showing up and trying again, no matter what the world expects. And don't forget—every Monday we drop audio on all platforms, and every Tuesday you can catch the visuals on YouTube. The South African-born, UK-based cellist Abel Selaocoe doesn't really cross musical boundaries – he ignores them entirely. He'll play Bach cello suites, but he also writes music that draws on the throat singing and instinctive vocalizations of his South African heritage, as well as works with electronics, cello preparations, and site-specific sound installations.
