Have you ever stopped to think about how much a basketball, football or golf club is worth in your hands? Less than a hundred bucks, and that's on a good day. But in the hands of Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Tiger Woods, they're worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Whose hands you put something in makes a huge difference. Think about holding a couple of nails, how valuable would they be in your hands? But put nails into the hands of Jesus Christ to shed His blood, and that provides salvation. Christian, whose hands have you put your hopes, your dreams and yes, even your troubles into? Your hands or His hands? Psalm 92 is a short but mighty psalm, and it is an excellent illustration of the importance of putting yourself into the right hands. First and foremost, your hands cannot solve your problems, and indeed are likely the cause of them. All week long at the Bookstore, we have been having our ‘Dependence Day' Sale on books and stuff. But the title of that sale is more than a mere ‘play on words', it shows we, as blood-bought Christians, are dependent on Jesus Christ for every breath we take, every morsel of food we eat and every beat of our heart. We live in a world where every day we read posts about taking control, seizing the day, and working like a boss, when the exact opposite is true. Arrested on the road to Damascus, the ‘alpha male' Saul came face to face with the risen Lord Jesus, and very wisely put it all into His hands. Do you desire to flourish? Then you need the right place to be planted. On this Sunday Service we open our King James Bibles and go looking for a ‘touch of the Master's hands'.

Anyone's life can change in a split second from a catastrophic accident, stroke or other tragic event. Our guest, Mark Raymond Jr., Founder of the Split Second Foundation, had his life change in a split second when he broke his neck after diving into shallow water while boating with friends in 2016. The accident resulted in him becoming a C-5 quadriplegic. During Mark's immediate recovery from his injury--inpatient and outpatient therapy--he learned that there are extreme gaps in the recovery process and few resources available to people after being discharged from therapy.He founded Split Second Foundation in 2018 and dedicated it to making people aware of the growing but oftentimes invisible population of people with disabilities, advocating for their rights, funding cutting-edge research, and providing clear cut steps to immediately impact their lives. Within three years of starting the foundation, Mark was able to open Split Second Fitness, which is the first inclusive gym in Louisiana with an intentional focus on people living with paralysis, amputation, or other neurological conditions. Because the majority of people with severe disabilities cannot afford traditional fitness programs, the organization charges a $50 monthly membership fee, providing access to the facility and equipment as well as access to a physical specialist to assist them with weekly training. As Americans, we're taught from childhood that independence is a good and powerful thing. We celebrate it every Fourth of July. We read about it in our history books. It's part of who we are. While that may be a great thing for a country, we shouldn't be so quick to assume that is the best thing for us as people. In fact, our path to wholeness is found when we embrace our weakness and dependence upon God.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence were not just making a corporate or political decision to separate from the British: each man was signing a potential death sentence. By placing their names on the Declaration of Independence the Founders of America were stating that they would defy the tyrant King George for the sake of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was their declaration of independence from the technocratic monarchial rule that demanded their allegiance and their servitude. Today, we are being coerced into a national dependence on our government to provide our daily sustenance and our daily needs. Food supplies are beginning to dwindle. Gas and oil reserves are being depleted and no further contracts for drilling or refining are being made. The great “funneling” of resources in a “sustainable” model as envisioned by the World Economic Forum is being implemented throughout the world. Simply stated, we are moving from an “on demand” free market economy to a “scarcity” model of a socialist economy. Goods and services will be scarce. Choice will dwindle. Distribution will slow. The end result will be dependence on government distribution.
