Danielle Breton (Margot Kidder) is a beautiful young model, the kind of girl you meet only in your dreams. But this dream turns into a nightmare when young reporter Grace Collier (Jennifer Salt) witnesses a brutal murder in Danielle's apartment. Danielle has a secret: she lives half a life, and the other half is lived by her formerly-conjoined, murderous sister Dominique. One sister is lovely, gentle, and kind - the other is quite mad, and you never know which one you're holding in your arms. We're joined by author, director (1991's Guilty As Charged and 2001's Elvira's Haunted Hills, among others), and screenwriter Sam Irvin for a look at the 1972 psycho-thriller, Sisters, with Sam's treasured memories of working with director Brian De Palma on The Fury (1978), Home Movies (1979), and Dressed To Kill (1980) acting as a retrospective backdrop on the famed director. This 90+ minute special episode bypasses our usual shtick (no Joke Of The Week or Recently Seen) for a candid interview (we'll return to our regular format on the next episode), with fascinating insights into the wide world of Brian De Palma, our general thoughts on Sisters, and more.

This week, we're stepping into the stylish, seductive, and deeply divisive world of Dressed to Kill. Released at the height of Brian De Palma's fascination with voyeurism, identity, and cinematic sleight of hand, the film is both a love letter to classic thrillers and a provocation in its own right. Drawing heavily from the work of Alfred Hitchcock (that's putting it mildly) while pushing further into sex, violence, and dreamlike excess, Dressed to Kill quickly became one of the most controversial films of its era. We discuss how De Palma's visual style helps put a new spin on familiar material, dig into the film's elaborate set pieces, and of course, attempt to unpack its depiction of gender and identity. This week we discuss when KISS will put out the NEW SONG Gene Simmons recently said they recorded.
Episode 667. Ken Nardi is back! This episode he talks about his brand new remix of KISS ROCK AND ROLL OVER. WOW! This release is pretty amazing! From Ken, “Basic changes are that I added a bit of grit to the bass to make it closer to Gene’s live sound, removed some of the reverb from the vocals, compressed the guitars to enhance the distortion a little and added a few accents drum accents and cymbals to some songs to make them more dynamic and more like the way Peter played them live. All-in-all, it’s probably as close to a real remix as possible without access to the actual multitrack tapes. This album was a return to form after the more “experimental” DESTROYER album and represents KISS just after gaining super-star status. Some fans find certain arrangements to be a little “rushed” not unlive DRESSED TO KILL, which makes sense considering the pace and frequency the band were releasing new material at that time. I have used some “artistic freedom” to replace the fade-outs on almost every song with hard endings or extended fades to let everyone hear all of the improvised playing and singing that was hidden in those fades. All of these changes come at the end of the songs, so hopefully it will not take away from the main song arrangements. There are a few more easter eggs as well like Paul’s “Take Me” count-in from the demo, Gene’s backing vocals from the “Baby Driver” demo, Paul’s live backing vocals on “Hard Luck Woman”, a bit of Paul’s electric guitar blended in on “I Want You” along with the extended riff before the solo and more. The biggest changes are to the song “See You In Your Dreams”. Gene has always said this song didn’t really turn out how he had imagined it and even re-recorded it for his solo album less than 2 years later. For this version I have combined elements of both along with some added hand claps and percussion to give it more of a “gospel revival” feel which I think maybe gene was going for on his solo album. I have also incorporated the intro from his solo album version and used his solo album vocals to extend the 2nd verse and some other changes Gene made for that recording. If this doesn’t suit your taste, I have also included the original arrangement as a bonus track.” Three Sides of the Coin has moved to its own YouTube Channel, don't miss any future episodes click the link below and click SUBSCRIBE… so easy! We check our food labels. We filter our water. We obsess over skincare ingredients… but what about the clothes we wear every single day?In this episode—one of my all-time favorite conversations I've ever recorded and one that truly blew my mind—I sit down with Hannah Dunning (aka The Clean Clothing Chick), who's been deep in the research uncovering what's actually in our clothing. We're talking synthetic fabrics like polyester, chemical treatments, formaldehyde, lead, and forever chemicals—and asking a pretty big question: what are we actually putting directly against our skin for 12+ hours a day? KISS fans spend a lot of time trying to understand decisions made by members of the band. But in the past couple of months Vinnie Vincent has gone out of his way to confuse and anger some members of the KISS ARMY. This week we ask what is going on with Vinnie Vincent?

Welcome back to Shoot the Hostage! We are three episodes deep into Dan's Identity season, and things are getting… well, icky. This week, we're tackling Brian De Palma's 1980 classic/controversy magnet, Dressed to Kill. Retroactively functioning as a best of De Palma, this film features many of the hallmarks you would expect from the director – voyeurism, shower scenes, and enough split diopter shots to make you feel like your eyeballs are watching separate movies. Join us as we unpack this 80s slasher-adjacent thriller. We discuss why Nancy Allen deserved better than a Razzy nomination, and how Angie Dickinson proves that being nearly 50 is the new 21. We also dive into the character identities and why the twist is about as subtle as a brick to the face. Plus, we explore why watching movies on Tubi means being interrupted by Danica Patrick trying to sell us car insurance. What to expect from this episode: Why Brian De Palma is basically a giant pervert with a very expensive camera. Dan's “bonfire of opinions” regarding the 10-minute dialogue-free art gallery scene. A breakdown of why a binary calculator that only holds 20 numbers is the worst invention ever. Sarah's internal struggle between Michael Caine being a “Tory” and being a “Great.” A dive into 80s slasher tropes and why this is basically Psycho with more pubic hair. The mystery of whose leg is on the movie poster. A completely unsolicited but necessary tangent about Andrew MacCarthy and the movie Mannequin. Our attempts to sensitively navigate this films “Wild West” approach to transgender representation. Why Nancy Allen kicking a bloke in the balls is the peak of her filmography. So much happened to KISS between the years 1979 and 1981. Dynasty in 79, Unmasked in 80 and Music from the Elder and Killers in 81. Then there is lineup changes. Peter Criss is out Eric Carr is in. Ace Frehley is getting ready to leave. You could right a paper on the music changes, and even the way the band looked went through a huge change. This could be the most controversial era for the band. Fans started to think the band left the KISS ARMY behind. Let's look at this era and talk about the music the look and the attitude of the era.

BoooOOOOOooo! Welcome to pcmc Halloween 2025! Spooky season is the most precious time of year for the pcmc brood, and we come to you all month long with our scare-tacular Halloween specials. Today we kick things off with the HIGHLY PROBLEMATIC film Dressed to Kill from 1980. It's Brian De Palma's homage to Alfred Hitchcock. The film is suspenseful, sexy, and brilliantly made. Sadly, it's also completely wrong-minded about the experience and life of transgendered people. If you've liked pcmc's previous episodes on slasher movies, this will fit right in with those conversations. Come back next week for more spooky fun! find us everywhere @PCMCpod
On the two hundred and seventy-sixth episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST, the crew are obsessed with high heels and phallic razors.Christian and Jericho continue their Auteurography series on the films of Brian De Palma with reviews of the lo-fi farce HOME MOVIES and sleazy grindhouse thriller DRESSED TO KILL (both from 1980). But first, Darren Aronofsky's CAUGHT STEALING and repertory screenings of JAWS (1975) and CITIZEN KANE (1941) get the Recently Watched treatment. They also discuss autobiographical context, duality, puritanism, misogyny, and trans representation.Subscribe to Jericho's Substack: symbioticreviews.substack.comKeep in touch with us on Instagram and email us anytime at: TheThirdActPodcast@gmail.com
Send us a textTrying it on...A trip to Liberty, preparing for the role of Mother of the Bride. This was a nice chance to use a Shams track, called Dressed To Kill.
1975 was a pivotal year for KISS: It was the year they finally broke through to the masses and the year they released their signature song and the album that put them on the map.We take a look at the events of 50 years ago, starting with the release of Dressed To Kill, as well as the subsequent tour that would give birth to the album that broke the band in a big way, Alive!Bakko (Cobras and Fire podcast) helped me delve into this massive year, arguably the most important one in the band's history. We had fun doing so, as we always do!
This week we talked about Gene Simmons and how we think the world will view him in 50 years. With special guest from WCW WRESTLING The "DEMON" Dale Torborg in attendance as well to talk about the 26 year anniversary him playing the DEMON and a ton more!!
Are You Fighting the Right Enemy? Christians hear a dark, condemning thought and may think, “Wow… that must be me. I must be messed up.” But no—that thought didn't come from you. It came at you. There's a real enemy. He's already been disarmed, but he's still out there running his mouth—lying, accusing, distracting. He can't touch your security in Christ, so he goes after your mindset, trying to steal your peace and hijack your joy. The good news? You've got every reason to ignore that nonsense. This message will help you recognize the battle for what it is—and stop owning thoughts that were never yours in the first place. Click now to watch, and let truth overwhelm the noise! Discussion Questions: Read John 10:10. What does Jesus mean by “abundant life,” and how is it different from what the thief offers? Read 2 Corinthians 11:14. How does the enemy disguise himself as an “angel of light”? Can you think of examples in the world today? Read 2 Corinthians 10:3–5. What does it mean to take “every thought captive to the obedience of Christ”? Read Ephesians 6:10–11. What is the “armor of God,” and how do we put it on? Read Romans 8:37–39. How are conquering and God's love connected in this passage? Read Colossians 2:15. React to this: The enemy has already been disarmed through the cross. Read 1 John 4:4. How does it encourage you to know that “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world”? Read Philippians 4:8–9. What role does setting your mind play in spiritual warfare?
This episode was fun. Mike is both loved and despised in the KISS community. We wanted to have him on for a chance to see him in a different light. Did it work?
This week we get into a couple of interviews from Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley as well as what are our TOP 5 most neglected KISS records??
Well the Vegas event has a new name and some of the guests have been announced. Plus Joe took his son to meet Gene in Knoxville and it's a great story!
So the anniversary for ASYLUM has come and gone and the merch and album is out. Let's find out if the KISS ARMY is happy with what they got???
