The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into its fourth year. All the categories are quotables from Frank himself. In this episode, Frank's category was "Daphne Alamo." For this, he watched only one movie - the 1992 neo-noir Prey of the Chameleon, starring Alexandra Paul and Daphne Zuniga. The 2 Guys also discuss recent trailers, Stephen King, and the recent Harry Potter TV show castings.
Dairy: The Ultra-Processed Food Hiding In Plain Sight “Some dairy products clearly fall into the ultra-processed category—spray cheese, whipped toppings, artificially flavored coffee creamers, and ice creams packed with stabilizers and preservatives… But while it's easy to see these products as processed, what about dairy products deemed more “natural?” Learn more in today's episode written by Justin Long at Switch4Good.org #vegan #plantbased #plantbasedbriefing #UPFs #ultraprocessedfoods #dairy #ditchdairy #dairyfree =============== Original post: https://switch4good.org/dairy-the-ultra-processed-food-hiding-in-plain-sight/ Related Episodes: 175: [Part 2] Dining by Traffic Light: Green is for Go, Red is for Stop https://plantbasedbriefing.libsyn.com/175-part-2-dining-by-traffic-light-green-is-for-go-red-is-for-stop-by-dr-michael-greger-at-nutritionfactsorg 174: [Part 1] Dining by Traffic Light: Green is for Go, Red is for Stop https://plantbasedbriefing.libsyn.com/174-part-1-dining-by-traffic-light-green-is-for-go-red-is-for-stop-by-dr-michael-greger-at-nutritionfactsorg ================= Switch4Good is an evidence-based nonprofit dedicated to rattling accepted norms around dairy and health. “So, for people who might think, ‘You see, the vegan diet is too expensive'—no. You can get frozen fruits and vegetables too if you can't get the fresh ones. Absolutely, absolutely. This is true. And I'll do a tangent on your tangent. One of the things that I always recommend to people when I've done nutrition coaching in the past is, if they're price-sensitive, getting dried legumes and dried beans. They are some of the most nutrient-dense and cost-effective things you can buy.” -Alexandra Paul and Jason Wrobel How much cardiovascular exercise do you really need? This week, we discuss two films that feature characters being terorrised by vehicles. The first is Christine (1983), a supernatural horror film co-scored and directed by John Carpenter and starring Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Alexandra Paul, Robert Prosky and Harry Dean Stanton. Adapted from Stephen King's 1983 novel of the same name, the movie follows the changes in the lives of Arnie Cunningham, his friends, his family, and his teenage enemies after he buys a classic red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine, a car that seems to have a mind of its own and a jealous, possessive personality, which has a bad influence on Arnie. The second is Duel (1971), an action-thriller directed by Steven Spielberg. It centres on a travelling salesman David Mann (Dennis Weaver) driving his car through rural California to meet a client. However, he finds himself chased and terrorised by the mostly unseen driver of a semi-truck. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with Spielberg's direction being singled out for praise. It has since been recognised as an influential cult classic and one of the greatest films ever made for television. I thought, “You know, I need another adventure,” and I was worried it was going to ruin my career. But it turned out to actually be very good for my acting career. Because after you come off a series like Baywatch, everyone thinks you're just incompetent and dumb and I don't know, they just don't give you any credit for anything. And then you go do an Ironman. -Alexandra PaulIn today's encore episode, we dive deep into the life and mission of Alexandra Paul, beyond the accolades, discovering who actress Alexandra Paul is at her core and what drives her.Alexandra shares her incredible story of deciding in 6th grade to remain child-free by choice and how that decision has shaped her activism, including her TEDx talk on overpopulation—a topic she passionately believes needs more attention. We discuss her transformation to vegetarianism at 14, inspired by Diet for a Small Planet, and how a year between high school and college sparked her love for acting, leading to a career where she stood firm in her ethics, refusing to wear fur or use makeup tested on animals. She also opens up about her battle with an eating disorder during her teens and early 20s, her fears around restricting dairy, and the profound moment at 47 when she went vegan and her heart “cracked open,” seeing the injustices of the world more clearly. We touch on her direct action activism, where Alexandra literally takes a stand—physically—for her beliefs, having been arrested over 25 times. She discusses the privileges that allow her to engage in civil disobedience, her training in it, and some of the experiences that have stood out, including moments of fear and claustrophobia. This conversation is rich with reflections on activism, personal growth, and the ongoing journey of recovery from bulimia. Alexandra's story is not just about overcoming challenges—it's a powerful reminder of how our choices, big and small, can shape a better world. Dan Ackroyd's misguided take on the copaganda classic Dragnet was a huge disappointment when Dennis saw it in theaters back in 1987. Does his opinion hold up? Or is the film even worse than he remembers? Should he have talked Mary out of covering this at all? But at least we finally get to cover a Tom Hanks movie for the show, right? Starring Dan Ackroyd, Tom Hanks, Christopher Plummer, Dabney Coleman, Alexandra Paul, and Harry Morgan. Written by Dan Ackroyd, Alan Zweibel, and Tom Mankiewicz. Directed by Tom Mankiewicz.

Today we're revving up our Plymouth Fury's and talking about John Carpenter's 1983 take on Stephen King's novel, CHRISTINE— a fine little tale about a boy and his car. Of course, there's a little more to it than just that (we have two masters of horror coming together behind one possessed wheel and perhaps a wee bit too many homoerotic undertones!) so you better believe there's a lot to talk about here — tune in now and listen up as we slash up and bleed out our first vehicles, John and Stephen's work in general (and what we like and do not like about ‘em), and if this movie is just a little too gay for its muffler or if it's just us…

EP. 53 Alexandra PaulActress | Activist | Co-host of Switch4Good Podcast There are so many layers to Alexandra Paul and Margie hits all of them on this podcast. Firstly, her acting career. What was it like to star on the iconic TV series, “Baywatch” for five years, as well as her 100 movies and other TV shows? [Margie's wife is obsessed with Alexandra's Lifetime movies!] They discuss Alexandra's dedication as an athlete and how that helped her find the discipline she needed to be a working actress. Next, they explore Alexandra's journey into becoming a vegan, which also led to her role as an activist and being arrested countless times to protect animals and human rights. In her last effort, she was acquitted for rescuing a chicken from a slaughter truck. And lastly, they riff on how all this has led her to co-host her amazing podcast, Switch4Good, which encourages listeners to “Ditch Dairy. Feel Awesome. The Halloween holiday is upon so what better time than to kick in CARPENTER WEEK! Of course this refers to genre master John Carpenter who over the past 45 years has directed several of the most iconic action and/or horror genre films of the modern era including previous episode The Thing, Escape From New York, and of course...Halloween. ;) Many would cite the decade of the '80's as his PEAK era as he helmed a string of popular and/or influential movies loaded with thrills and/or chills....And this horror thriller certainly qualifies as it's the seemingly simple tale of a teenage boy and his car. Adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name released earlier this same year, "Christine" is in fact the NAME of said car which is a '58 Plymouth Fury recently restored by mild-mannered teenager Arnie played by Keith Gordon. Of course just as the car has undergone a transformation, so does Arnie as he becomes increasingly infatuated with this vintage automobile....an automobile which also starts to rack up an increasing body count as the story progresses. And the only two people standing in its way end up being Arnie's best friend and girlfriend played respectively by John Stockwell and Alexandra Paul respectively. Once again directed by Carpenter, it's time to hit the road to revisit this cult classic which is about to turn 40!Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

STEWART WADE From a young age, Stewart Wade knew he wanted to tell stories. He performed skits in the backyard for his captive parents and friends, and attempted his first novel at age ten. A bit later, Stewart tried his hand at poetry, short stories, and playwriting, ultimately getting a Master's degree in Theater, Film and Television from UCLA. After a few years in the Hollywood trenches, Stewart wrote and directed his first feature film, Coffee Date, starring Wilson Cruz, Jonathan Silverman, Sally Kirkland, Elaine Hendrix, Jason Stuart, and Debbie Gibson. The movie garnered numerous awards and received a limited theatrical release, ultimately playing in rotation for a year on MTV's LOGO channel. His next movie, Tru Loved, starred Najarra Townsend and Jake Abel, and featured Jasmine Guy, Alexandra Paul, Alec Mapa, Cynda Williams, Bruce Vilanch, Nichelle Nichols, Vernon Wells -- and Jane Lynch. It also won several awards before playing in rotation on Here!TV for many years. Next up, Stewart directed and co-produced Such Good People, a screwball comedy written by David Michael Barrett and starring Michael Urie, Randy Harrison, and James Urbaniak, with supporting roles by Scott Wolf, Ana Ortiz, Lance Bass, Alec Mapa, Tom Lenk, Drew Droege, and Rick Overton. At about this same time, Stewart created Coffee House Chronicles. This web series is an ongoing passion, as each episode is self-contained and can be produced when time and money allow. Most recently, Stewart has written and directed his first drama, Say Yes, and now the sequel, Baby Steps. Both star Patrick Zeller and Matt Pascua, and are available on Amazon Prime.Contact: Stewartnla@aol.comWeb: http://www.stewartwadefilms.wordpress.comPhoto: Copyright Wilkinson/2023Opening and closing music courtesy the very talented Zakhar Valaha via Pixabay. To contact Wilkinson- email him at BecomingWilkinson@gmail.com

If you consider California penal code sections 484207, A597, and 217, theft, kidnapping, cruelty to animals and attempted murder something to laugh about, then you agree that Dragnet is a 1987 crown jewel of comedy. Tom Hanks before TOM HANKS is always a celluloid treasure to behold.P.A.G.A.N. People Against Goodness And Normalcy. Now I'm not saying that I subscribe to this acronym, but I'm not saying I don't either. Dan Akroyd and Tom Hanks team up in this buddy cop comedy. The stacked cast also gifts us with Christopher Plummer's maniacal laugh, as well as Dabney Coleman and his sibilant lisp. As Joe Friday and Pep Streebek, they're hot on the trail of this cult. Securing information on said cult by introducing Emil Muzz's balls to a desk drawer, they end up at a P.A.G.A.N. ceremony saving the virgin Connie Swail (I was waiting for Akroyd to call her an ignorant slut most of this movie). Let's not forget the nail biting battle with an enormous drug laden snake that ensues during the daring rescue. Star Wars anyone? Don't want to give away the BIG climax! That's all you get here.Enid Borden 4-eva.

Let's hurt a little. Special thanks to Til Death Do Us Blart for the inspiration to create this annual show within a show. Thanks to Lance Romance for the intro and outro music used for this show. On Friday, March 17th, after nearly six hours of deliberation, and facing up to six months in jail if convicted, Alexandra Paul and co-defendant Alicia Santurio were acquitted by a California jury of the alleged crime of taking two sick, slaughter-bound chickens from a Foster Farms truck in Livingston, California. Prosecutors called it stealing, but Alexandra and Alicia called it a rescue. From accused to acquittal, in this very special episode, we get to hear the story from Alexandra herself, including all the riveting behind-the-scenes details of what led these two courageous activists to set out to expose the cruelty of poultry slaughter, and demonstrate why they had the right to rescue these two sentient beings in the first place. “So I'll tell you what open rescue is and then I'll explain what happened that day. Open rescue is when animal investigators go into places where there has been claims of abuse or suspicions of abuse, like factory farms, and we document what we see. And if there is an animal who is sick and needs immediate medical care, for whom we have a sanctuary because it's very hard to find placement for animals, then we will take that animal out of that facility with us. And we do not hide our faces. In fact, the video of myself and Alicia rescuing Ethan and Jax was publicized within the hour on the internet with our names. And the reason we do this is because we believe that what we're doing is legal.” - Alexandra Paul What we discuss in this episode: Alexandra's detailed account of jury selection What the right to rescue is and why it's so important How and why Alexandra and Alicia were acquitted Why Alexandra and Alicia rescued chickens Ethan and Jax The inhumane acts taking place in chicken slaughterhouses Why the trial took nine days The last-minute trick the prosecutor pulled during closing statements Resources: The entire trial on video here: https://www.youtube.com/c/DirectActionEverywhere Direct Action Everywhere links: directactioneverywhere.com https://www.facebook.com/directactioneverywhere https://twitter.com/dxeverywhere https://www.instagram.com/directactioneverywhere/ Alexandra's website and social media links: Alexandra Paul Alexandra Paul (@alexandra_actress) • Instagram photos and videos https://twitter.com/alexandra_paul https://www.facebook.com/AlexandraPaulOfficial/ Dairy-Free Swaps Guide: Easy Anti-Inflammatory Meals, Recipes, and Tips https://switch4good.org/dairy-free-swaps-guide SUPPORT SWITCH4GOOD https://switch4good.org/support-us/ ★☆★ JOIN OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/groups/podcastchat ★☆★ SWITCH4GOOD WEBSITE ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/ ★☆★ ONLINE STORE ★☆★ https://shop.switch4good.org/shop/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM ★☆★ https://www.instagram.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ LIKE US ON FACEBOOK ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON TWITTER ★☆★ https://mobile.twitter.com/Switch4GoodNFT ★☆★ DOWNLOAD THE ABILLION APP ★☆★ https://app.abillion.com/users/switch4good

This week, we present a bonus episode from our friends at Switch4Good. If you're not familiar with the work of Switch4Good, they are an evidence-based nonprofit, advocating passionately for a dairy-free world. For too long, society has accepted the distortion and misinformation Big Dairy feeds us. So Switch4Good exists to set the record straight, for the sake of human health, food justice, and the future of our planet. They work with health experts, athletes, social justice warriors, enlightened policy-makers, and progressive corporations to promote ethical lifestyles and widespread behavioral change related to how we eat. The Switch4Good podcast is hosted by Olympic medalist, Dotsie Bausch and former Baywatch actress, Alexandra Paul. I believe so much in the work they're doing that I wanted to share one of their podcast episodes with you today, especially as it relates to athletic performance. Ryan Duff is a medical student and a recreational ultra-endurance runner, but more impressive than his academic and athletic achievements is his story of overcoming an eating disorder. Dotsie and Alexandra talk with Ryan about his struggle from anorexia to binge eating, and how he's overcome those hurdles by shifting to a plant-based diet. They discuss the underlying causes of eating disorders, coping mechanisms, and the holistic impact of a whole-goof plant-based diet on your physical and mental health. As he says in the interview, “I don't run to eat. I eat and run.” Episode Resources Download the Free Plant-Based Playbook from Switch4Good: https://switch4good.org/plant-based-playbook/ Join Team PLANTSTRONG and run with Rip! https://plantstrongfoods.com/pages/team-plantstrong Original Episode show notes - https://switch4good.org/from-binge-eater-to-an-ultra-runner-with-ryan-duff/ Ryan Duff Instagram - @unleashtheduff
