The albums helped establish a cult following for the band but were commercial failures. Paul, aka “Star Child” joins Josh to discuss the decision to release an album that captured their live energy, which turned out to be a breakthrough for the band. 1985. Back To The Future would become the highest grossing film of the year, the Live Aid benefit would be hosted simultaneously in 2 different venues on 2 different continents, and the Coca-Cola Company would experience a catastrophic failure with “New Coke” by (once again) failing to put its namesake ingredient from the ORIGINAL “Original Formula” back in their legendary beverage. We are well aware that there are multiple listicles already out there featuring the “Top 20 Metal Albums of 1985” because 40 years is quite the chronological landmark. Nevertheless, we still felt compelled to construct our own list. It's not necessarily all thrash, but it's not all “gloves of shame” either. In short, it's a pretty substantial sampler of the albums that WE feel represent everything great about metal in1985. It's time to shake off those “cobwebs” and prepare for some “extraordinary news” as well as “a story of redemption and forgiveness” regarding a previous negative review we received. Learn about the earliest documented “fake news” regarding Elizabeth Bathory's alleged use of “skin conditioner” and get a sneak preview of the new album from “Dick Johnson & The Ball Brothers” when you JOIN US for the TOP 20 METAL ALBUMS OF 1985. On this week's bonus episode of Revolutions Per Movie (released for fun on Chris' birthday), we are joined by director Jeff Feuerzeig (The Devil And Daniel Johnston, AUTHOR: The JT LeRoy Story, Half Japanese: The Band That Would Be King) to discuss a very mysterious, litigious, and glorious documentary KISS IN CADILLAC, MICHIGAN 1975! We get to discuss Jeff's origin story with Kiss, his childhood insights into their albums, how a high school assistant football coach got Kiss, at the height of their KISS ALIVE exploding fame, to come to his town to celebrate Kiss and play a show in their gymnasium, being kids in 1975 trying to recreate their dangerous stage show, the complicated legal battles surrounding the rights to this incredible film, the mystery of who actually made the documentary, the power and mythology of Kiss on pre-teens in the 70s, Creem and Circus magazine, Jeff gives his deep cut must-see documentary list, our love for Paul Stanley stage banter, how Jeff accidentally discovered this documentary, Ace Frehley's laugh being the greatest thing ever recorded in human history (and how the other members of Kiss hated it), Jeff's rabbit hole search to find the film after it had been stripped off the internet, the controversial figure The Gooch and the Kiss Army's thoughts on him, the loophole in the Digital Millenium Copyright act, Kiss making their own version of the documentary with ESPN and how it pales in comparison, bootleg records, Springsteen Vs. The Grateful Dead, KISS=Keep It Simple Stupid, the Sex Pistols reunion tour, WFMU, a Ramones hologram tour, and more!So shout it out loud with us on this bonus episode of Revolutions Per Movie!!!And remember you can always celebrate my age by supporting the show over at Patreon.com/revolutionspermovie (you can even gift the show now!). We continue #ROBOtober with 1972's THE CREMATORS, a movie that doesn't include a single robot but that's okay because #ROBOtober is all about the weird movies made by New World Pictures. You wouldn't be to blame for punching holes in the second part of that last sentence but we will move on. Considered one of the cheapest movies made by New World Pictures, THE CREMATORS is a science-fiction, horror movie about a minivan-sized Cheeto ball that terrorizes a small lakeside town. The Cheeto ball feeds on human flesh but otherwise leaves everything else alone. It also get's its powers from little rocks. If you hold the rocks with your hands, they will leave an unremovable glitter stain not unlike Ace Frehley's outfit from the cover of KISS Alive 2. THE CREMATORS is more than the sum of it's parts. Hospital emergency rooms look like the living room of a house, laboratories look like the wood paneled basement of your Uncle Flint's house, and the audio.... the audio is almost impossible understand which is unfortunate since a lot of the dialogue takes place over ham radio. Speaking of which, looks like we at The New World Pictures Podcast will be gifting each other ham radios for the holidays. Thank you, CREMATORS For more podcasts on the Someone's Favorite Productions Podcast Network, head here: https://linktr.ee/someonesfavoriteproductions
This week we will discuss KISS from the years 1974-1975 The records they released and the ENDLESS TOUR they were on. Their 1st release KISS in 1974 was not a huge hit so Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley went back into the studio and put out Hotter than Hell and once again it was not a hit. So 3rd times a charm rightr? Nope Dressed to Kill sold ok but what it did have was Rock and roll all night! As a last chance effort KISS released KISS ALIVE which was a double live record featuring the band like they should be...LIVE! The rest is KISSTORY!!
This week Tom & Zeus review the 1975 KISS Dressed To Kill Tour. This is SIOL's 8th KISS tour reviewed. This was KISS' 4th tour and followed the Hotter Than Hell tour. It began as the Dressed To Kill album was released on March 19, 1975. The tour in support of KISS' third album featured new KISS classics, like C'mon And Love Me, She and of course, Rock And Roll All Nite. The band had still not broken through commercially, but was starting to take off live with its raw energy. KISS began as openers and eventually moved to headliners with opening acts like Rush. The stage was still in its infancy compared to what was to come in a few years. The costumes began similar to Hotter Than Hell and then morphed into what we see on the Alive tour and album cover. The setlist consisted of what would eventually become the ultimate classic live album, KISS Alive! As usual, the guys breakdown the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. They then rank the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour against the previous 7 tours reviewed so far. So take a stroll down back to a time when KISS was hungry to take over and then stay for the rant at the end of the episode... Interview by Kris PetersAustralian blues/rock outfit Beasts Of Bourbon have been a mainstay of the Aussie music scene for over 40 years, blending a blues-infused swagger with sleazy rock and tonnes of attitude to create a musical aura that is as much about the musicians who make up the band as it is the music itself.Originally formed with James Baker on drums (ex-Hoodoo Gurus, The Scientists), Spencer P. Jones on guitar (The Johnnys), Tex Perkins on vocals (Dum Dums), Kim Salmon on guitar and Boris Sujdovic on bass guitar (both ex-The Scientists), the Beasts Of Bourbon went through several line-up changes over the years, with Tex Perkins and Jones being the only regular contributors. After disbanding in 1985 following their debut album The Axeman's Jazz it seemed the music of Beasts Of Bourbon would be lost into the channels of Australian history but they reformed just two years later and released a second album Sour Mash the following year.Several albums followed, culminating in 2007s Little Animals before Beasts Of Bourbon disbanded once more, seemingly for good.2013 saw a couple of select 30th anniversary shows before another slide into the unknown until 2019 when the band re-emerged under the shortened name of Beasts. After a new album Still Here came out in 2019 Beasts went back into slumber, resurfacing last year for 40th anniversary celebrations, with the response being so overwhelmingly positive that the band are on the cusp of undertaking a six-date nation tour with the intention of taking their music and legacy even further than the two shows last year allowed.HEAVY caught up with guitarist Kim Salmon to find out more."It has been a while, really, since we've done any touring in earnest with this band," he nodded. "It was just before the pandemic, so probably four years. We did a couple of shows last year with our original drummer James Baker, and we recorded that and we were so excited about that recording that we thought we'd take it out on the road. We're going to actually release some of this stuff. This is a beauty."We mention that HEAVY is a big fan of live albums, to which Salmon replied, "me too. There's been some good ones over the years. There's also been some less than good ones, but this one I think is… we were gonna call it… Tex and I were talking about it (laughs) and throwing titles around, and we thought how about The Best Live Album Ever Recorded or The Best Live Album Ever, but I had this thing… like there's Slade Alive and Kiss Alive, so I thought why not Beasts Alive? So we're putting that out through a French label called Beast Records. But that won't be out until September, I think. We've got a five track 12" that will only be available at the gig and that's some tracks taken from that recording."In the full interview, Kim talks more about the tour and what to expect, if he still enjoys touring after so much time on the road, the enduring success of Beasts and why, the rocky road to success, changing the band name from Beasts Of Bourbon to Beasts and why, their debut album The Axeman's Jazz and his thought of it 40 years later, future plans and more.

This week Tom & Zeus review the 1975 legendary live album, KISS Alive! Considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest live album ever, KISS Alive! perhaps saved KISS' career. The album came after the first three studio albums failed to ignite any real interest in KISS. The band wanted to something that captured the band's explosive live concerts. From the incredible album cover, back cover and gatefold to the famous opening by J.R. Smalling, to the incredible performances by the band, to the infamous Paul Stanley stage banter, KISS Alive! has it all. This is SIOL's 8th live album review. The guy's breakdown the album, the tracks and of course Paul Stanley's stage banter as well. They list their top 5 favorite tracks and rank the cover and the album against the 7 live albums by KISS that were previously reviewed. #elvispresley #kiss #70smusic *Billy Stanley | Elvis Presley on KISS!In 1975 Elvis Presley's Stepbrother was on a date listening to KISS Alive in Graceland, Elvis walked through the door and the rest is KISSTORY.Billy Stanley is a New York Times bestselling author and the stepbrother of Elvis Presley. As one of the singer's trusted confidants.Billy Stanley, has written a new book, The Faith of Elvis: A Story Only A Brother Can Tell. The new book shares the previously untold story of the iconic singer's Christian faith, its influence on his music, films, and relationships, as well as on his family. As the book explains, when seven-year-old Stanley and his two younger brothers moved to Graceland in 1960, Elvis welcomed them, embracing his new roles as big brother, spiritual mentor, protector, and playmate. On their first night together, Elvis introduced his brothers to bedtime prayers as he thanked God for his new siblings.During Stanley and his brothers' teenage years, Elvis shared his experiences of filming movies (including stories about the leading ladies who acted beside him), offered dating advice, and even doled out gentle discipline after two of the brothers once used a blue light to pull over cars in hopes of picking up women.Stanley also recalls helping as part of Elvis' road crew for several years, bringing Elvis' Bible along, and witnessing his growing number of adoring fans. Elvis loved his fans in return, which is why he was drawn to Gospel music—it allowed him to share God's abundant love. ➜ Find Billy Stanley's Books:1:“The Faith of Elvis: A Story Only A Brother Can Tell”2: “Elvis My Brother”On Amazon ********************************************************************************************************************************************* The New Website ➜ https://www.adikalive.com/Merchandise ➜https://adika-live.creator-spring.comThe Ultimate VIP ALL ACCESS BACKSTAGE PASSFull episodes can be seen in Patreon! Fyrsta „læf“ plata okkar manna, KISS ALIVE! bjargaði ferli þeirra. Önnur „læf“ platan, ALIVE II, festi þá í sessi sem stórstjörnur á heimsvísu og sú þriðja sannaði að þeir gætu náð árangri og gert gott mót án tveggja upprunalegra meðlima og án frægu andlitsmálningar sinnar. Svo hvað gæti KISS mögulega gert til að gera fjórðu „læf“ plötuna sína, ALIVE IV, öðruvísi? Jú, þeir tóku seinni lestina og frömdu plötuna ásamt sinfóníuhljómsveitinni The Melbourne Symphony í Ástralíu þann 28.febrúar 2003, fyrir sléttum 20 árum síðan. Í þessum þætti kíkjum við nánar á þessa plötu og dæmum hana. Ekki eru allir á eitt sáttir við lagavalið en ljóst má vera að okkar menn voru í hörku spilaformi. Það var þarna sem Tommy vinur okkar Thayer var kynntur umheiminum sem The Spaceman. En hvernig skilaði hann sínu í þessari eldskírn sinni? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In this episode Bill talks with Richie Hume of the band Weapons of Anew. We talk about the musical gateway drug that is the KISS ALIVE album, the support and love for the arts in the community he grew up in Connecticut, what led him down to Florida, following his calling for music instead of a regular 9-5, the music scene in Tampa, how he came to join Weapons of Anew, what him and Lun'iah bring to the table, and Logan Mader of Machineheads contributions to the band. We also had this conversation while he was inside a hurricane ready shelter during Hurricane Ian which added to our conversation, as well as making of the video for their single BREAK THE TIES, and when their forthcoming album The Art of War should be seeing a full release, plus so much more. “We've got a little surprise for you tonight…” We've been talking about doing this for so long now that many of you (ourselves included) had almost given up thinking it was ever going to happen, like it was just another instance of the usual psilly nonsense that manifests deep within the Bunkerpoon Studios whilst surfing relaxer fueled waves of madness. Well, the aforementioned “psilly nonsense” has finally manifested into a multi-dimensional, multi-tentacled reality! Now, just so we're perfectly clear and we're all on the same page here, we are absolutely NOT talking about “Knights in Satan's Service” or “Kids in Satan's Service” or ANYTHING having any affiliation with “Satan's Service” in any way, shape, or form!!! And we're definitely NOT talking about “Keeping it Super Simple” either. But actually, in all reality, we definitely kinda are… And we definitely kinda did… A lot. (“Yeah, yeah…”) It's time to strap in for “a hard day at the office” and put on your finest “cheetah skin boots” to go with your “gloves of shame” to ensure you're outfitted with the proper ensemble to do “The Paul Dance” before Mr. Unicorn gnaws through another mic cable again. FRIDAY HR 4 Angel on the 1s & 2s New music! What does having representation mean in Hollywood? Kiss Alive tribute band in studio
Í þessum síðasta þætti KISS ARMY ICELAND PODCAST (the touring band) sem er númer 75 í röðinni tökum við fyrir KISS ALIVE! síðan 1975. Platan sem breytti öllu fyrir Gene, Paul, Ace og Peter. Þátturinn sem tekinn var upp ALIVE með gesti í sal laugardagskvöldið 8.október 2022 er með örlítið breyttu sniði í þetta skiptið þar sem við fengum til okkar gesti í settið ásamt óvæntu atriði. Við þökkum öllum sem komu kærlega fyrir ánægjulega kvöldstund, og við þökkum ykkur öllum fyrir hlustunina. Þetta hlaðvarp hefur gefið okkur mikið og við munum sakna þess að hittast ekki á vikulegum fundum okkar og negla saman þátt. Við þökkum einnig fyrir fjölda áskoranna sem okkur barst þar sem okkur var réttilega bent á að okkar menn hafa nú sjálfir hætt við að hætta. Við setjum allt í nefnd og leggjumst nú undir feld, það er ekkert víst að þetta sé aaaalveg attbú. En hvað sem gerist er vikulegum þáttum lokið að sinni, the tour is over. Hosted on Acast. Kenny was raised in a house where music played all the time, and it was his mom's Hendrix and Santana records that etched their way into his psyche...he had to know how to make those sounds. By age 9 he had started guitar lessons, and by 12, had begun to unravel the mysteries of real rock guitar playing on his own, courtesy of Ace Frehely on the first Kiss Alive album. Ace was playing the Jimmy Page licks...but he played them slowly and methodically enough for a kid to digest and be able to repeat them, albeit clumsily at first. Over time, the pentatonic scale layout of the neck revealed itself, and he was off to the races, never looking back. By Kenny's senior year in high school, he had joined a newly minted band called Prophet with a bunch of Jersey guys several years his senior. They busted their asses learning progressive rock covers by Kansas, Yes, Rush, Genesis, Pink Floyd....as well as hard rock like Scorpions, Van Halen, Sabbath and AC/DC. By 1982, Prophet was one of the kings of the NJ club band circuit, playing 5 nights per week to packed houses all over the tri state area. In 1985, Prophet would release the first of their 3 albums; the self-titled "Prophet" (1985), followed by "Cycle Of The Moon" (1988), and "Recycled" (1991). All records met with critical acclaim, yet Prophet would never rise above cult following status...a following which still remains today. A few original music projects followed in the early 90's, but he was growing weary of the music business and all of it's fickle whims. He lost his passion for creating and trying to forge ahead, and channeled those passions elsewhere. In 2013, Kenny found himself at an all-time low, having gone through quite a few years of real trauma in his personal life. He had finally shed all his baggage, and was slowly regaining himself and learning to stand again...gradually finding his footing. It was during this period that he stumbled on to an album that would set the course for a whole new musical re-birth for him..."The Whippoorwill" by Blackberry Smoke. Just happened to click on it by chance one day while looking for an album to play while at work. A year later, he was still listening to the whole record every day. A few months after that, song ideas that he thought were worth capturing started to appear for the first time in years. And on July 4th, 2016, Kenny released "Reckless Abandon", his very first 100% solo record. And THAT...is where this awesome journey started for the second time...and he'll never look back again. KISS - Alive! In this episode, we are joined by guest co-host Paul LaPlaca to review an album that was a pivoting point for a group whose records did not sell much until they did a live album, which this was. Our tracks of the week are "Page One" from October Thorns, "157 Riverside Ave. (live)" from REO Speedwagon and "Poor Mohammed" by Procol Harum." We close with Lee's song "Slipping On Fish." Take care, everybody! #KISS #KISSALIVE #ClassicRock

What comes on the screen changes his life. 1977's classic KISS concert The Summit live in Huston! Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss & Paul Stanley put on one of the classic shows of all time. This would be bootlegged for years and years before KISS themselves put it out in this three volume box set that came out in October of 2006. So lets go back in time to at least 2006 and pretend along with Nikko that it's 1977 and we are seeing one of the great KISS concerts for the first time!Links: Twitter @RBTEpodcast https://twitter.com/RBTEpodcast @NCarusoJr https://twitter.com/NCarusoJr @NikkoCaruso https://twitter.com/NikkoCaruso @DrummerRob10 https://twitter.com/DrummerRob10 www.facebook.com/RightBetweenTheEyesPodcast https://www.instagram.com/rightbetweentheeyespodcast/ email: rightbetweentheeyespodcast@gmail.com
Released in 1976, KISS Alive! changed the fortunes of KISS and transitioned them from a strong opening act to an international headliner. This success forced the band to come up with the goods in the studio and they were up to the task with Destroyer, Rock & Roll Over and Love Gun. These records gave us songs that would strengthen KISS's hold on the public and allow them to tour for decades. Alive II captures the best songs from the catalog with the band at the height of their powers before success and excess changed the band forever. It's overlooked vs. Alive! but stands on it's own and the test of time.
