Joe, Sonny and Leigh went to see Gene's band over the weekend and they give you the story good and bad.
So Peter Criss was honored in NY and our own Joey Cassata was asked to perform with him. He is here today to tell us what happened.
The boys revisit a regrettable return, quote Sling Blade when a coherent response can't be made, and use the scientific method to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of their own first episode, “Love Gun.” News items and digressions include long distance t-shirt delivery and self-deprecating reevaluation.
So much going on in KISSLAND right now. Lets get into all of it plus a great project from Joey!
It's a great time to be a KISS fan! So much is happening and we get to live through it! DTK turns 50 this week and an audio tour was released on KISSONLINE. GO CHECK IT OUT then listen to the show!!

This week Tom & Zeus open Shout It Out Loudcast's Season 7 by reviewing the 1977 legendary live album, KISS Alive II! KISS was perhaps at highest peak in 1977, commercially and musically. They decided to follow the same formula as they did previously. So after Alive, they released three more studio album and now they wanted to release their second live album, KISS Alive II! This live album would not have any songs from the previous live album, so KISS Alive II would not be an actual real concert. The new songs from Destroyer, Rock And Roll Over & Love Gun would only make up 3 sides, so the band decided to add 5 new tracks to complete the double album. The cover of KISS Alive II is known for the images of the band members, the inserts and perhaps the greatest gatefold in vinyl history. For many in the KISS Army this album was the album that solidified their KISS fandom. Fans are often split between Alive vs Alive II. This is SIOL's 10th live album review. The guy's breakdown the album, the tracks and of course Paul Stanley's stage banter as well. They list their top 5 favorite live tracks and rank the cover and the album against the 7 live albums by KISS that were previously reviewed. They also rank the 5 new tracks as well. This episode is filled with rankings, bold claims and analysis done SIOL style. So alright Love Gun! Eddie Kramer er nafn sem allir KISS aðdáendur þekkja, og reyndar mun fleiri til enda á hann alveg ótrúlegan feril að baki. Burt séð frá störfum hans með Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix og þeirri staðreynd að hann var sá sem hljóðritaði Woodstock hátíðina árið 1969 þá gerði þessi maður meira en margur fyrir okkar menn í KISS. Hann tók upp fyrstu demoin í Electric Lady Studios, hann tók upp ALIVE!, ALIVE II, ALIVE III, Rock And Roll Over og Love Gun með okkar mönnum og fleiru til með Ace (s.s Ace solo album 1978). Hér er Eddie "Fokking" Kramer í einkaviðtali við KISS ARMY ICELAND PODCAST. Ótrúlega skemmtilegt viðtal við þennan áhrifamann af blaðsíðu eitt í rokksögu heimsins. Það snerti okkur afar djúpt að fá að tala við þennan mæta og merka mann, njótið vel. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
https://www.youtube.com/live/ivlpTQwoaw8?si=GkuN_JaP1fla7nza During an appearance on AXS TV's Vinyl Obsession podcast, MÖTLEY CRÜE's guitarist John 5 shared his love for VAN HALEN's iconic 1978 debut album and KISS's Love Gun. Speaking about Van Halen, he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I bought this just because the cover said 'Gene Simmons,' and he worked on the record. I remember putting it on, and this album gave me the biggest shock because of the sound. I was already playing guitar, and it was like seeing a regular car but then seeing a race car. Eddie's guitar playing really freaked me out. And with Dave's [Lee Roth] vocals, Mikey's [Anthony] harmonies and bass playing, and Alex's [Van Halen] drumming, it was just incredible. Without these four guys, it wouldn't have been the same." On what made Eddie Van Halen's playing so unique, John 5 elaborated: "I remember using Eddie's rig and realizing it's all in the hands. His attack and the way he played were what made him sound like Eddie. You can hit all the notes, but players like Eddie or Yngwie Malmsteen have a unique swing or attack that's impossible to replicate. That's what made Van Halen so special."

Shifty's biggest guitar hero joins the podcast to run down his unique lead picking on the 1977 Love Gun hit. Ace Frehley is the reason Chris Shiflett picked up a guitar in the first place, so it's only natural that Shifty invites his original tone teacher onto the pod to recap one his iconic solos. Frehley, saddled with a classic black-and-cream triple-humbucker Les Paul, shares that “Shock Me” was the first KISS track on which he took lead vocal duty. The first time he sang it live, he remembers, was in front of 18,000 screaming fans at Madison Square Garden. As Frehley explains, that was quite a step up from how he recorded the vocals in the studio for Love Gun: lying flat on the floor on his back, racked with stage fright. Frehley recalls that he ripped most of his solos through a dimed Marshall stack, and always on the bridge pickup. Turns out, he never went for pedals or boards because he'd trip over them onstage. “Wearing those boots?” he snorts. “Forget about it. It's like a minefield!” His signature sauce, he says, is in the way he picks the strings: He holds his picks loose, but plucks in such a way that his thumb often hits the string at the same time, producing a sound just shy of a pinched squeal, but more spunky than a regular strike. Frehley drops tons of golden bits of KISS history: the engineering behind his famous “smoke bomb” effect, the time he woke up in Paris with his eyes swollen shut from makeup, how he accidentally roadied for Hendrix, the shared genealogy between his technique and Eddie Van Halen's, and which KISS member smelled the worst after shows. This week Tom & Zeus review the 1979 polarizing KISS album, "Dynasty." This was KISS' 7th studio album and the 21st KISS studio album reviewed by SIOL. Dynasty was the first studio album since Love Gun in 1977. This was the longest time between studio albums for KISS. It was the last studio to feature all original members until Psycho Circus in 1998. The album was produced by Vini Poncia, who Peter Criss demanded and had previously produced Peter's 1978 solo album. The band was definitely changing. Super KISS had been formed. The band wore flashier outfits with capes and became more comic book-like. They experimented with more pop and yes, even disco, with their huge international smash, "I Was Made For Lovin' You, written with this new upcoming songwriter, Desmond Child. Producer Vini Poncia was instrumental in this new sound, however the band did write some of their best songs, like the brilliant, "Sure Know Something." Yes brilliant! However, this departure in sound and style alienated a lot of the KISS Army. The album also featured all four members sing at least on song, just as they did on Love Gun. However, this album featured Ace Frehley on three songs, by far his most. Gene Simmons only sang on only two. The album also featured ghost player, Anton Fig on drums. Peter Criss only played drums on his song, "Dirty Livin'." The album cover was the iconic photo of the four faces of the band. The inside photo of the band in black also became legendary. As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always, they then compare the album and album cover and rank it against the previous studio albums reviewed. So tune in to another must listen to SIOL album review. SUMMARY:You wanted the best, you got the best! Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Paul Stanley of KISS joins Songcraft to talk about his long and diverse career through the lens of his role as a songwriter.PART ONE:Paul and Scott talk about musicians who adopt personas, how KISS seems to have the best timing of any musical group of all time, and their respective frightening memories of the band. Then they spend the rest of the time pinching themselves that Paul freakin' Stanley is on Songcraft. PART TWO:Our in-depth conversation with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Paul StanleyABOUT PAUL STANLEY:Paul Stanley is best known for his vocals, guitar, and outlandish stage performances that have helped define KISS. Combining elements of shock rock and glam to set a new standard for theatrical arena rock, Stanley's Starchild persona, alongside fellow band co-founder Gene Simmons's Demon character, has become one of the most iconic figures in music history. One of the best-selling bands of all time, KISS has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, and has earned more Gold-certified albums than any other band in the US. Fourteen of their albums have been certified Platinum, three of which have earned multi-Platinum status. Stanley has written or co-written many of the band's best-known songs, including “Strutter,” “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Shout it Out Loud,” “Detroit Rock City,” “God of Thunder,” “Hard Luck Woman,” “Love Gun,” “I Was Made for Lovin' You,” “Lick it Up,” “Heaven's on Fire,” “Crazy, Crazy Nights,” “Forever,” and many others. In addition to his work with the band, Stanley released a self-titled debut album in 1978, and another solo album in 2006 called Live to Win. More recently, he released the album Now and Then, a collection of R&B classics alongside vintage-style originals under the name Paul Stanley's Soul Station. Defying categorization, he has written a hit song with Michael Bolton, duetted with Sarah Brightman, and even starred in a production of Phantom of the Opera. Paul's songs have been covered by a diverse list of artists, including Cher, Nirvana, The Replacements, Green Day, Ronnie Spector, Bonnie Tyler, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Garth Brooks. As a member of KISS, Paul was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. This fall, the band wraps the final leg of their End of the Road tour, culminating in a pair of shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, the city where KISS first formed in 1972.

Episode 47: KISS Marvel Comics Super Special #1The episode is at the heart of RBTE. Comic books! That is how this whole podcast was started. The three of us were doing a round table guest spot on another podcast, we did not know each other well at the time, but in the Zoom call screen Rob saw Nikko in a KISS t-shirt... and the rest is KISStory. In 1977 right on the heel of KISS' 6th studio album Love Gun, KISS teamed up with Stan Lee and the folks at Marvel comics to release on June 21st The Marvel Comics Super Special Vol 1 KISS! The glorious 64-page comic was dripping with the bands very one blood... as we were told by the font cover! There was also Spider-Man, Captain Americ and more! The worlds were about to collide, comics and music! Nick, Nikko and Rob take a look at this very hard to find comic, and one that is sought after by comic book collectors and KISS fans alike! It's 1977, we have Star Wars, comic books and KISS... this is what dreams are made of and what made many people fans of KISS!!Links:SHOW HOSThttps://right-between-the-eyes-podcast.simplecast.com/TWITTER@RBTEpodcasthttps://twitter.com/RBTEpodcast@NCarusoJrhttps://twitter.com/NCarusoJr@NikkoCarusohttps://twitter.com/NikkoCaruso@Vigilante1939 @DrummerRob10https://twitter.com/DrummerRob10FACEBOOKwww.facebook.com/RightBetweenTheEyesPodcastINSTAGRAMhttps://www.instagram.com/rightbetweentheeyespodcast/MERCHANDISEhttps://virtualmerchbooths.com/rbtepodcast/We love it loud... Seth and Marc crack open another song from the Knights In Satan's Service; and this time, it's Love Gun! Seems simple enough: a song about the singers dick. But are there more sinister things at play? We think so.

The celebration of rock and roll in all its glory! Made up and ready to serve HOT with Flames and shit! Seriously, this is a celebration of machismo, loud music, youth, sex and rock and roll. Kiss may not have wanted to expand the boundaries of music, but they loved having a good time, and it reflected in this album. From Shout it out Loud to Detroit Rock City, rock anthems were plentiful, but they didn't dominate it altogether, with Beth slowing things down at just the right time. We'll give you a synopsis of the songs and people who contributed beyond the band, including the choirs, orchestras and individual contributors involved. We also poke fun at Gene's womanizing, Ace's high pitched laugh, and Sean William Scott's explanation of Love Gun to his little in the movie Role Models. Enjoy!!Support the show
This week we talk about a KISS Anniversary Tour! What albums they should or shouldn't do that for. Plus we see a side of Joe we really never do when talking about the KISS 2020 GOODBYE promotion.
Put your mouth where my money is and listen to the showdown hoedown. Destroyer, 1976. Epic. Classic. Double Platinum. VERSUS Love Gun 1977. Epic. Classic. Single Platinum. Song for song. Hit for hit. Which is truly the better record? Come see. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mametalcast/message
This week we continue the series of picking all the songs for KISS members solo live records! This week it's PAUL STANLEY'S turn. Plus we talk about the crazyness of the SAM LOOMIS SAGA that does not seem to be ending any time soon.
If you had the opportunity to pick the setlist for a ACE FREHLEY LIVE record what songs would you pick?
So this week we have questions...Do you think it was out of line for Ace to take a shot at Paul for the backing track stuff and why would Ace and Peter be canceling shows?
This week we talk 3 big stories! Paul caught lip syncing, Peter cancels shows and does Paul and Gene really want to share the stage with Ace and Peter 1 more time?
This week we talk KISS KRUISE 10.5 and 11 and Are KISS EXPOS going to be the way the KISS ARMY celebrates the band once they are gone? Plus PETER CRISS is doing a COMEBACK SHOW in NY?
We have a LIVE DISCUSSION about all the KISS LEAD GUITAR PLAYERS! And we want you to get in on the conversation! PLUS HUGE NEWS coming out of the Creatures Fest camp involving VINNIE, ACE and BRUCE! Tune in to hear what we think about all of this and there is even more tonight!
