Hip-Hop is everywhere now, but that was not the case when Fred Lynch started a group that would become PID (Preachers in Disguise). He took Hip-Hop into a place where it was often not welcomed: The Church. And preached Jesus in a way that was pretty much unheard of: Through Hip-Hop music. By dedication and following a real sense of calling, Fred helped usher in a new sub genre of Hip-Hop, Christian Hip-Hop. Tonight we get to hear about his journey, the journey of King Solomon J, and Ace One the MC, and also discuss the current and future state of the Christian Hip-Hop movement and more. Let's get to it. Fred Williams traces his love for art back to his childhood, when he accompanied his parents on a visit to an artist's studio located on Hancock Point in Downeast Maine. From a longstanding Maine family, his parents met at the University of Maine in Orono, and bought their first piece of art from one of their professors. Fred says that connecting with artists is something that he treasures to this day, as he continues to surround himself with art at his home in Portland, Maine. The founder of the well-respected investment management firm, Old Port Advisors in Portland, Fred has been in the financial services business for four decades. He has supported non-profit organizations--many of them with an art focus--equally as long. Joining Radio Maine from his Munjoy Hill home, Fred shares his deep respect for and admiration of artists William Crosby, Joyce Grasso, Fred Lynch, Missy Asen and many more. In this episode of The TruthSeekah Podcast TruthSeekah is joined by Fred Lynch as he explains The Seeking Process: The Awakening of The Christian Mystic. Regardless of religion race or creed deep within the hearts and Minds of the Seeker is a similar Pursuit towards the goal. The Journey is merely a means to an end. We may come up with different terminologies and phrases but the essence of the seeker remains the same. In The Awakening process one must step away from exclusivity in order to step into Universal consciousness. The seeking process oftentimes leads people not to but through religion. Deification nor religious duties are the end goal either but the alchemical process that one undergoes through religion and out of dogma. Even the ancient Hebrew text states "Hear O Israel, The Lord is ONE. Exclusivity leads to hatred and placing ones own learn traditions upon a pedestal. One may find themselves always trying to prove that they're right so that deep down it justifies their belief when more people believe it. Just because the masses flock does not mean it's right but contrary. Whether Christian, Hindu, Muslim or Buddhist the pursuit is the same with all devotees. If it is ultimate truth you are seeking you will wind up in a similar place to those others seeking with pure intentions. You will recognize similarities from those in varying sects but yet may feel isolated within your own religious denomination. This is why it says in the New Testament that "Some of them went out from among us but were not of us" 1 John 2:19. The path of Enlightenment at times is a walk through the wilderness where we feel all alone and yet other times it is one of the most celebrated experiences with those who are on the same journey together. Episode 7: Fred Lynch of Rachel's Challenge My guest today is Fred Lynch, San Diego director of Rachel’s Challenge, an organization founded by the parents of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine school shooting. The organization visits hundreds of schools each year to drive its mission of, “Making schools safer, more connected places where bullying and violence are replaced with kindness and respect; and where learning and teaching are awakened to their fullest.” With so much current attention on school safety, I wanted to get a sense of what programs like Rachel’s Challenge do to shift the culture of schools. We cover a lot of ground here, and I love talking with Fred. Among other things, he talks about the work of developing kindness and compassion as skills to be practiced and honed, and about giving students ownership to determine how to establish cultures of kindness at their schools. We also talked about identifying students of influence, and how those aren't always the poster child, straight A students, but those across social groups that influence their peers. That’s a big part of getting buy-in by entire schools. We also address those who may feel that programs like Rachel’s Challenge are too touchy-feely and can't possible make schools safer. Spoiler alert: they do. Enjoy, and my all means check out Fred and Rachel's Challenge. Here are some links: Rachel's Challenge WebsiteRachel's Challenge San Diego Instagram

(Preachers In Disguise) and Preachas. In Part 2, Fred talks about how he learned the scriptures and demonstrates a fresh way created for memorizing the Word by paraphrasing it into rap verse. Fred provides background story for songs recorded on Frontline Records releases, The Chosen Ones and Born With A Gift. Listeners learn about some innovative recording techniques originated by P.I.D. and other pioneer artists, like a compilation of loops by various rappers on “Holy Roland Patches” and abstract structure on “Abstruction”. It was popular for artists to borrow or “bite” loops from other hip-hop artists. Fred reveals one time when they got busted in a magazine review for doing it. In closing, Fred talks about his desire to mentor and train young MCs and rappers to use “flow” as a discipleship medium. He gives listeners a taste of “The Script”, his scripture translation of I John into verse-by -verse rhyme. Fred also travels to public schools with the organization, Rachel’s Challenge, and speaks with students about a life of compassion and kindness. Listeners will enjoy getting to know this man with a big smile and even bigger heart.

In Part 1 Fred talks about losing talent competitions, getting signed to Graceland Records, winding up in a room with a dancing Jimmy Kempner at Frontline, and how he eventually found his flow as a rapper. – In Frontline Records Rewind Episode 66, host Les Carlsen gets together with Fred Lynch, founding member of P.I.D. (Preachers In Disguise) and Preachas. He takes listeners back to the beginnings of Holy Hip-Hop and kicks out some old school rhymes. Fred talks about the Bible nerd and street kid dynamic of group members and how it sometimes created hard lessons. Details are revealed about an early tour experience that includes a gun, swagger and being black-balled by white evangelicals. Though the group didn’t win a talent contest hosted by Graceland Records in 1987, label owner, Caesar Kalinowski, was impressed and signed the teenagers. Frontline Records purchased the albums Back To Back and Here We Are, originally released on Graceland. In this episode, Fred provides background story for selections on these albums. Fred states that rap is “the language of the coming of age”. Of course Hip-Hop artists don’t always see eye-to-eye on execution and say of some: “Dat ain’t rap!” But on this episode, listeners will definitely hear authentic rap from a pioneer artist who still flows!

In this Episode titled "What Lives Matter" the guys look for a way thru the very devisive issue of race in our culture. Our country seems so divided along racial lines and how do we as Christians strive for the unity that Christ commands for His people. Todd leads a yearly Civil Rights bus tour called "Returning to the Roots of Civil Rights" which has received high praise and partners with the PNC Foundation.
