Episode 1 — TheReboot: New Format, New Energy, Same Idiots (Mostly) This week marks theofficial reboot of the podcast. After years of winging it, rambling, moaning, and generally hoping for the best, we've decided it's time for a fresh start. The old format has been canned, the slate wiped clean, and we're kicking off anew, more intentional and professional version of the show — without losing thebanter that got us here in the first place. In this first episodeof the new era we talk openly about why we're changing things up:– We've outgrown the“hit record and hope” approach– We want betterconversations, better structure, and better value for listeners– We want to grow theaudience beyond just knife-makers and workshop nerds– And frankly… we werebored of listening to ourselves moan every week Then we get into thegood stuff. Segment: Laser Talk — LP5, XTool &BWM We little dive intothe LaserPecker 5, the XTool machines, the BWM fibre lasers, and thedifferences between diode and fibre setups. What each is good for, what'smarketing nonsense, and what's actually worth your money if you're a maker, small business, or YouTuber. Segment: “What's the Worst Tool You'veEver Bought?” A new possiblerecurring segment where each of us confesses the most useless, disappointing,or rage-inducing tool we've ever spent money on. Some of these are shockers. One of us clearly still isn't over it. What This Reboot Means We explain our goalfor the new series:– More structured, more thoughtful episodes– Actual workshopstalk that's useful– Current affairs, business, content creation, and craft– Less ranting for thesake of it– A show sponsorswon't run away from– And somethinglisteners can actually take value from each week It's still us. Stillthe same humour. Still the same chaos in places. Just… grown up a bit.(But not too much —don't worry, we kept Onur on a short leash this episode.) The Federal Liberal Party is continuing to face accusations from opponents that it has capitulated to junior coalition partner the Nationals in announcing the dropping of its policy of net zero emissions by 2050.
Consumers across Ireland and the EU are benefiting from a new energy label on smartphones and tablets, that rates devices on energy efficiency, durability, and repairability. This initiative is part of the new Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations introduced in June 2025, which will empower consumers to make choices that go beyond the price tag. Research shows that consumers consistently rank longevity and reliability of appliances and electronic goods among their top decision factors, alongside price, brand, and warranty. However, until recently, consumers had to rely on their own research to evaluate these factors for smartphones and tablets. The new EU-wide label provides clear, comparable information on how products perform in areas that matter most: Energy efficiency: rated from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) Battery life and endurance: how long your device lasts between charges and over its lifetime Durability: including resistance to drops and protection from dust or water Repairability class: showing how easily devices can be fixed and spare parts accessed The label is now mandatory in-store and online, providing an easy-to-understand guide to help consumers make their purchasing decisions. "These new labels give consumers a clear comparison on key factors when buying a new smart device. Choosing a phone or tablet with better energy efficiency and durability isn't just about fewer charges or a tougher screen. It's about getting more value and creating less waste. Devices that last longer and are easier to repair help consumers save money and are more sustainable", Tim Stokes, Market Surveillance Programme Manager at the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, explained. "Empowering consumers with better information through the new energy label can significantly influence energy use, especially given the vast number of devices in circulation. By choosing longer-lasting, repairable products, individuals help reduce waste, conserve resources, and lower lifecycle energy consumption. When millions make these informed choices, small actions will create major impact. This behavioural shift to more sustainable consumption model supports both national and EU-wide efforts toward a circular economy, where products last longer, cost less over time, and have a reduced environmental footprint", Stokes added. With the new energy label, consumers are better equipped than ever to choose smartphones and tablets that last longer, perform better, and support a more sustainable future. https://enlighteninglife.com/toxic-family-new-energy-community/ For 15 years I have been talking about how we are creating space for our energetic family and we have been seeing examples of that happening. Whether it has fully happened for you yet, is just a matter of time. Like a slowly approaching tide, the truth that we have been trying our best to avoid is here. For decades and lifetimes we have been working hard to bring our karma group to the light. These are the people you can ‘family' in this lifetime. And for decades and lifetimes they have resisted our efforts, often in devastating ways. But we are at an energetic crossroads and it is time to make a decision that will change our lives from this moment forward. The karma ties that bind us to the people we call our family, the biological ties that we assume to also imply emotional commitment, are unraveling and with it, the dawning realization that we can no longer bring light to people who prefer to be in the dark. The illusion of family that we have held for so long through our sole efforts is crumbling beneath the weight of the darkness we thought we had to endure to fulfill this mission. In its place we will form energetic families, our 5D communities, people who are aligned with us energetically, who truly ‘love, honor, and respect' us. People who can appreciate us and who value who we are, our light, and our efforts. On an emotional level this can be difficult. On an energetic level, though, it is something whose time has come.If you have been frustrated, saddened, and even traumatized by people who do not value you, who dismiss, betray, abandon, and reject you, a change is coming. It means that you will have to abandon some dreams and goals while simultaneously welcoming others. It is not a time to grieve – you have done your best to achieve the impossible. Instead, celebrate your release from the commitments that have bound you to lifetimes of sacrifice while enjoying the change that will come from having relationships that are easy, fun, fulfilling, and joyful.read the rest of the article on the blog at enlighteninglife.com Created, narrated, and produced by Jennifer Hoffman.Artwork by Jennifer Hoffman.Copyright (C) 2004-2025 by Jennifer Hoffman, all US and international rights reserved.Visit enlighteninglife.com for more information. Please note our policies regarding copyright infringement, content misuse, and theft of intellectual property. The Government has released a new energy plan. The 'Wood Energy Strategy and Action Plan' aims to fire up the bioenergy sector. Industrial policy, supply chain security, and economic competitiveness are central to how we think about clean energy deployment. As the Trump administration pulls back federal support for the clean energy transition, there are more and more calls for pragmatism and realism. The shifting conversation around clean energy is visible in other ways, too. During last month's Climate Week in New York, there was more focus on a broader set of energy policy goals that included not only decarbonization but also energy security, energy affordability, and energy for economic development. So what does effective energy policy look like in this new era and under new pressures? How should we balance climate ambitions with energy security and economic competitiveness? And what does all of this mean for domestic leadership and investments in things like manufacturing and modernizing the electricity grid? This week, Jason Bordoff speaks with Sarah Ladislaw about the risks and opportunities they both see in this evolution towards building a better energy system. Sarah is managing director of the US Program at Rocky Mountain Institute, where she leads work on federal, state, and local energy policy, and runs the New Energy Industrial Strategy Center. Previously, she worked in the Biden White House, leading climate and energy efforts within the National Security Council. Before that, she was senior vice president at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Credits: Hosted by Jason Bordoff and Bill Loveless.
