Love is Blind stars Sara and Ben have a difference of values rather than a difference of heart --- what does it say, if anything, about the state of our country. Should we only be in relationships with ppl who share our political beliefs? Or are values something separate? In hour three, Tobin & Leroy get into a heated discussion about the value of NFL running backs. With Saquon Barkley helping the Eagles get to the Super Bowl and the great seasons that Derrick Henry had for the Ravens, Josh Jacobs had for the Packers can this be a resurgence for RBs or is it a situation if you don't have a 1 of 1 RB like Saquon and Derrick Henry you have no shot?

Our inside lives matter to God Hey family, we'll start this new year with a look at how important it is to examine our inside lives. We might work very hard to make sure others see a confident, capable person on the outside... but if we don't examine deep inside ourselves, we might get tripped up by unacknowledged anger, fear, or other emotions. Psalm 139 talks about how God knows us completely, all the way through, and how He is much more concerned what's going on with our hearts than what we show on the outside. Please join us at 10 a.m. on Sunday, 360 Schermerhorn St., and bring a friend to start the new year right. IgNite Kidz children's church for ages 5-12 starts at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin

Nobody is all good, nobody is all bad. I've met awful people who I mostly agree with on political issues, and I have met great people, who I disagree with on most issues. And I know this might come off as pretentious or holier-than-thou, but I always try to have hope for people to surprise me. Otherwise, what the hell am I doing with all this writing and talking? I want to think that a great text with sufficiently convincing facts will sway even people who started off disagreeing with it all. Maybe this makes me a naive small -l liberal to a certain extent. But I have to say that I wasn't surprised with the reactions to the 7th of October massacre in Israel. I've followed the postcolonial left for too long to be surprised that they celebrated. I've witnessed the imported antisemitism many muslims carry with them here first-hand. I wasn't surprised by the complete lack of show of empathy for the victims of the massacre. The outpour of empathy was for Gaza, not for the hostages taken there or the murder victims at the Nova music festival, and this was even before Israel had responded. Why? Why this evil, right in our midst? That's what today's guest has written a book about. Brendan O'Neill is the chief political writer at Spiked, where he also was the editor from 2007 until 2021, and his latest book is called After the pogrom – 7 october, Israel and the crisis of civilization (Abe books 2024). He's hard to label, but has called himself a marxist libertarian, which is quite hard to make sense of really. But disregarding labels, Brendan always makes sense in my view, and is one of the people I've often turned to when the world seems to be going mad. In the polls, convicted felon Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are essentially tied. Jill Stein, Cornel West, and RFK, Jr. are third-party candidates, supported by far-right dark money groups aiming to "Ralph Nader" the election in Trump's favor. Meanwhile, mainstream media—especially the New York Times—continues to normalize MAGA fascism. Amidst growing election anxiety, it might be difficult to hear the pleas from the Uncommitted movement and their Democratic allies, who are advocating for a permanent ceasefire and hostage deal to end the war in Gaza. To help us understand the Uncommitted movement and its significance in this election, this week's guest is Palestinian-American and Georgia state representative Ruwa Romman. She was on a short list of Palestinian-Americans who submitted a two-minute speech for the DNC, which was ultimately rejected, despite the invitation to Democratic leadership to collaborate on the text. Though not an Uncommitted delegate herself, Rep. Romman will explain how to bridge our differences and move forward with a unified front. Holding our elected officials accountable isn't just a civic duty—it's essential for enacting real change and enforcing laws effectively, especially those to hold war criminals like Netanyahu and Hamas accountable. Despite the challenges ahead, there's a glimmer of hope. This week's bonus show, exclusive to our Patreon supporters at the Truth-teller ($5/month) level and higher, delves into how Trump broke the law (yet again!) to come to power in the 2016 election by accepting an illegal campaign donation from Egypt's dictatorship. This week's sermon, Our Lives Matter: Reintroducing Ourselves to Ourselves, shared Rev. Dr. Pamela Lightsey's book Our Lives Matter. In writing the book, Dr. Lightsey had to address the fact that her understanding of herself had shifted, and she had to come to terms with who she had become. We need to take the time to reintroduce ourselves to ourselves so that we can understand who God has led us to become, and to know how this new self can answer God's call on our lives. We explored scripture from 1st Kings 19: 9b-18.
Gretchen Whitmer. Tim Walz. Gavin Newsom. Andrew Cuomo. These governors came to the national attention because of their response to Covid. And their response says everything about their leadership styles. Whitmer and Wolz lockdowns were complete and total. The state constitutions were suspended. Those who ignored their decrees were arrested. This was all done, we were told, to save lives. What happened was exactly the opposite. The lockdowns were supposed to save the lives of the elderly virus most affected. We knew that then, and we know that now. Children were locked out of school, fell behind academically, and were crushed emotionally. Businesses were devastated. All this to protect grandma. And yet in their great wisdom, Wolz and Whitmer ordered that infected elderly people to be herded into the same long-term care buildings as healthy seniors. They cited "data and science" that did not exist. It does now. A recent study showed that such facilities had 73% percent higher death rate. Minnesota suffered ~ 8,000 nursing home deaths, 52% of the state's total -- the worst in the nation...except Michigan. We don't know the true total here in the Wolverine State because the Whitmer administration never bothered to count, and never bothered to verify. She claims ~ 7,000 such deaths But Michigan has nearly doubled the population of Minnesota. The true deaths are probably nearer to 14000 by my estimate. Much worse than Cuomo's New York. We need and deserve an investigation, but our attorney general promises we will never get one. Politics played with the lives of people. This election is as much about the past as it is the future. We need leaders who understand their roles in a democratic republic. John Fortenberry is a devoted father with first-hand experience in family court disputes, specifically regarding father's rights and custody issues. Enduring the trials of the legal system since around 2011, John has become an advocate for fathers sharing struggles similar to his own. He voices his journey through platforms like the Father's Lives Matter network, aiming to spotlight the predicaments fathers face in family courts. In this riveting episode of "The Father's Truth," host Alan Donovan welcomes John Fortenberry, a passionate advocate for father's rights. The show peels back the veil on the family court system and the challenges encountered by fathers nationwide. John and Alan delve deep into a first-person narrative recounting John's trials and tribulations as a father entangled in a relentless legal battle for custody of his daughter. Beginning with John's personal recount of his interactions with law enforcement and the legal system, the episode uncovers the psychological impacts of custody disputes. John candidly shares his experiences — from being accused of domestic violence to grueling supervised visitations. The discussion highlights the perplexities of court documentation and law enforcement's role in compounding familial tensions. John stresses the importance of self-care and emotional control for fathers in similar predicaments, advocating nonviolence and emotional steadiness to navigate the journey. Father's rights and the impact of family court systems are central, often affecting personal well-being and the father-child relationship. John Fortenberry's personal story showcases the complexities and challenges faced by fathers during custody battles. Strategies for maintaining composure and the necessity to focus on positive habits during court disputes are emphasized. The importance of documenting interactions and communications with ex-partners and law enforcement is underlined. The episode sheds light on systemic issues within the legal framework that often leave fathers feeling marginalized and disempowered. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefatherstruth/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefatherstruth/support

This is a special weekend where we talk about and honour the caregivers in our midst. The only thing worse than losing someone you love suddenly is losing them slowly. Oftentimes, there are no miracles – just surgery, chemo, or the loss of memory, mobility, speech and even hair. Until the person you once knew doesn't even look familiar anymore. That's why the Church is essential in such a circumstance. If you're a caregiver, here are two words – JESUS REMEMBERS!

On today's episode I discuss the past week after the judge presiding over my lawsuit allowed it to move forward. I begin by talking about Marcos Breton's column about me in yesterday's Sacramento Bee. I discuss the impact of social media on stories like this and what a sad indictment it is for our country! I quote Zuby, a British rapper and podcaster who uses simple common sense to put into perspective All Lives Matter! I talk about how in 2023 there seems to still be debate over ALM and in particular my tweet from May 31, 2020. More than three years later and unfortunately there are still those stuck on this! Sad!
